A novel Schiff base ligand (DBC) synthesized from 4-chlorobenzoic acid, along with its Cu (II) and Co (II) complexes, was prepared and characterized using FT-IR, 1H and 13C-NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, as well as magnetic and conductivity measurements. Based on this, a tetrahedral structure of [M(DBC)Cl2] was proposed for the complexes. Antioxidant activity of the compounds was assessed and compared to ascorbic acid, revealing that the copper complex exhibited superior antioxidant properties compared to the cobalt complex and the ligand. Furthermore, the antibiofilm potential of the copper and cobalt complexes was assessed against five clinically relevant bacterial species (P.aeruginosa, E.coli, K.pneumoniae, S.aureus and S.typhi) using var

The purpose of this paper is to study a new concept, (up to our knowledge), named a semi-extending modules, as generalization of extending modules, where an Rmodule M is called semi-extending if every sub module of M is a semi-essential in a direct summand of M. Various properties of semi-extending module are considered. Moreover, we investigate the relationships between semi-extending modules and other related concepts, such as CLS-modules and FI- extending modules.
The main objective of this work is to introduce and investigate fixed point (F. p) theorems for maps that satisfy contractive conditions in weak partial metric spaces (W.P.M.S), and give some new generalization of the fixed point theorems of Mathews and Heckmann. Our results extend, and unify a multitude of (F. p) theorems and generalize some results in (W.P.M.S). An example is given as an illustration of our results.
In this study, the photodegradation of Congo red dye (CR) in aqueous solution was investigated using Au-Pd/TiO2 as photocatalyst. The concentration of dye, dosage of photocatalyst, amount of H2O2, pH of the medium and temperature were examined to find the optimum values of these parameters. It has been found that 28 ppm was the best dye concentration. The optimum amount of photocatalyst was 0.09 g/75 mL of dye solution when the degradation percent was ~ 96 % after irradiation time of 12 hours, while the best amount of hydrogen peroxide was 7μl/75 mL of dye solution at degradation percent ~97 % after irradiation time of 10 hours, whereas pH 5 was the best value to carry out the reaction at the highest degradation percent. At the same time, tumors are heterogeneous and current evidence suggests that a subpopulation of tumor cells, called tumor initiating or cancer stem cells, are responsible for metastatic dissemination, tumor relapse and possibly drug resistance. Classical apoptotic drugs are less effective against this critical subpopulation. In the course of generating a library of open-chain epothilones, we discovered a new class of small molecule anticancer agents that has no effect on tubulin but instead kills selected cancer cell lines by harnessing reactive oxygen
Objective: To assess prospectively functional outcome of interlocked intramedullary nailing fixation in management of closed tibia shaft fractures. Methodology: This prospective study included 134 patients with closed shaft tibia fractures with age 18-60 years and isolated closed fracture of shaft of tibia. The fractures were fixed by interlocking intramedullary nail. At follow-up after 12 months postoperatively, the functional outcome was assessed radiographically for the sign of union and clinically according to Klemm-Borner criteria. Results: The mean age was 38.55 years. Out of 134 patients, 55.2% were male. The cause was road traffic accident in 44.8%, majority of the fracture occur in the mid-shaft (41.8%), and oblique fracture was th

Both traditional CNFs and modified CNFs/CNTs were synthesized via electrospinning followed by thermal treatment (stabilization at 275°C and carbonization at 1000°C in N2 gas atmosphere). FE-SEM analysis showed a reduction in average fiber diameter after the addition of MWCNTs. Post-carbonization, the composite CNFs/CNTs exhibited a smaller diameter reduction (−13.54%) compared to pure CNFs (−25.05%), indicating enhanced structural stability. FTIR spectroscopy con

Tomato crops are susceptible to multiple illnesses that can diminish yields. The early diagnosis of diseases in tomato leaves substantially enhances tomato production and allows farmers to address these challenges more efficiently. Conventional techniques dependent on visual assessments are laborious, time-consuming, and susceptible to human mistakes. Machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques have emerged as potent instruments for automating and enhancing the precision of illness diagnosis to tackle these difficulties. Therefore, in this paper, we investigated the ambient seismic noise at four seismic stations in central Iraq, namely Karbala (KAR2), Kut (KUT1), Diyala (DYL1), and Baghdad (BGD1) over a period of one year, by analysing the seismic noise using power spectral density (PSD) and probability density function (PDF) techniques and then comparing the analysis results with Peterson's models. Our results indicate that most of the stations are within the acceptable noise levels according to Peterson's model. However, the Karbala (KAR2) station consistently exceeds the New High Noise Model (NHNM) standards over the long periods range. A new station was in
