Methotrexate (MTX), a folic acid antagonist is widely used for the treatment of a variety of tumors. In the present study, the possible protective effect of aqueous green tea extract (AGTE) in methotrexate-induced haematotoxicity was investigated.Four main groups of white Albino rats were used: control group, (MTX) group, following a single dose of MTX (20 mg/kg, i.p.) saline was administered for 5 days. (AGTE) group, was treated with 1.25% concentration of AGTE only for 12 days and the (MTX+AGTE) group, in thism group rats received different concentrations of AGTE (0.625, 1.25 and 2.5%), as their sole source of drinking water, 7days before and 5 days after MTX treatment. MTX induced significant decreases in RBC, Hb, Hct, WBC and pl

Recent advances in polymeric implants
...Show More Authors

Implantable drug delivery systems, such as drug pumps and polymeric drug depots, have emerged as means of providing predetermined drug release profiles at the desired site of action. While initial implants aimed at providing an enduring drug supply, developments in polymer chemistry and pharmaceutical technology and the growing need for refined drug delivery patterns have prompted the design of sophisticated drug delivery implants such as on-demand drug-eluting implants and personalized 3D printed implants. The types of cargo loaded into these implants range from small drug molecules to hormones and even therapeutic cells. This review will shed light upon recent advances in materials and composites used for polymeric implant fabrication, hi

Nanocrystal Technology as a Tool for Improving Dissolution of Poorly Soluble Drugs
...Show More Authors

Many approaches have been developed over time to counter the bioavailability limitations of poorly soluble drugs. With advances in nanotechnology in recent decades, this issue has been approached through the formulation of drugs as nanocrystals. Nanocrystals consist of pure drug(s) and a minimum of surface active agent(s) required for stabilization. They are carrier-free submicron colloidal drug delivery systems with a mean particle size typically in the range of 200 - 500 nm. By reducing particle size to nanoscale, the surface area available for dissolution is increased, and thus bioavailability is enhanced. Drug nanocrystals constitute a versatile formulation approach to enhance the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of poorly

The aim of this study is to evaluate the seasonal variations of Mosul dam lake by measuring the temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) during the period from July 2018 to April 2019. Twenty two sites were selected within the studied lake. The obtained results were integrated with the geographical information system (GIS) using spatial images to create maps utilizing Arc map software. These maps were used to demonstrate the concentrations of the investigated parameters during the study period. The results show that all parameters were within the accepted levels, indicating the good status of the lake.

window's center which finally produces an image. Two types of image samples were
used to test the propused method. Sobel type of edge detection then was applied and

Frequency and temperature dependence of AC-conductivity (AC) and power loss (W) for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) were studied (in the frequency range 1KHz-1MHz and in the temperature range 20-100°C). It has been found that the AC-conductivity increases with increasing frequency and temperature for both samples. The value of the exponent is less than 1 for both samples as determined experimentally. The power loss which is in the form of heat, is increased for both samples with increasing frequency and temperature. The IR spectra shows the presence of C-Cl and C=O bond, which are the main sources for power loss.

Ultrasound Images Registration Based on Optimal Feature Descriptor Using Speeded Up Robust Feature

Image registration plays a significant role in the medical image processing field. This paper proposes a development on the accuracy and performance of the Speeded-Up Robust Surf (SURF) algorithm to create Extended Field of View (EFoV) Ultrasound (US) images through applying different matching measures. These measures include Euclidean distance, cityblock distance, variation, and correlation in the matching stage that was built in the SURF algorithm. The US image registration (fusion) was implemented depending on the control points obtained from the used matching measures. The matched points with higher frequency algorithm were proposed in this work to perform and enhance the EFoV for the US images, since the maximum accurate matching po

Computer network technologies have grown rapidly in the last few decades. With the increased use of networked computers for critical applications, computer intrusions have been increased and became a significant threat to these systems and, thus Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) have become essential addition to security infrastructure of most organizations. This paper presents the design and implementation of a Network Node Intrusion Detection System (NNIDS) that support IPv4 protocol. It detects a variety of attacks which are directed to the resources of filing system.
