Synthesis and Characterization of [N-(4-Methoxybenzoyl amino)-thioxomethyl ]Methionine acid (MbM) and It's Complexes with Some Divalent Transition Metals Ions (Mn , Co , Ni , Cu , Zn , Cd and Hg)
...Show More Authors

In this work , the ligand [N-(4-Methoxybenzoyl amino)-thioxomethyl] Methionine acid  has been synthesized by the reaction of 4- Methoxybenzoyl isothiocyanate with methionine acid . The metal complexes were prepared through the reaction of metals chlorides of Co(II) , Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) in ethanol as solvent . The ligand (MbM) and its metal complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis (CHNS), IR, 1H-13CNMR and UV- Vis spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity, melting points and atomic absorption. The metal-ligand ratio was determined by mole ratio method. The suggested structures for the Co(II), Ni(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II) complexes are tetrahedral geometry and  the Cu(II) complex

FLI1 Expression in Breast Cancer Cell Lines and Primary Breast Carcinomas is Correlated with ER, PR and HER2
...Show More Authors

FLI1 is a member of ETS family of transcription factors that regulate a variety of normal biologic activities including cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. The expression of FLI1 and its correlation with well-known breast cancer prognostic markers (ER, PR and HER2) was determined in primary breast tumors as well as four breast cancer lines including: MCF-7, T47D, MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-468 using RT-qPCR with either 18S rRNA or ACTB (β-actin) for normalization of data. FLI1 mRNA level was decreased in the breast cancer cell lines under study compared to the normal breast tissue; however, Jurkat cells, which were used as a positive control, showed overexpression compared to the normal breast. Regarding primary breast carcinoma

Oxidative desulfurization (ODS) has attracted interest in the academic and industrial fields to meet new, stringent environmental legislation and produce environmentally friendly fuel.  In this work, catalytic oxidative desulfurization of dibenzothiophene (DBT) compounds in diesel fuel is studied using a co-magnetic active oxide over an activated carbon (Fe2O3 + MnO2/AC) catalyst. DBT oxidation reactions are conducted in new oscillatory and non-oscillatory baffled reactors (OBR and NOBR). New central baffles for handling catalyst particles as a fixed bed in the OBR are developed for the first time. ODS process is examined using hydrogen peroxide as oxidant under dif

The Impact of Applying Biomimetic Mechanism in Achieving the Sustainability of Architectural Design: A Review
...Show More Authors

Biomimicry is a newly emerging science that relies on inspiration and innovation to solve human problems by studying the systems, forms, and relationships found in nature. This research examines more than 50 studies, each addressing the concept of biomimicry in a specific field. Despite the novelty of this concept, it still requires detailed and extensive studies to achieve comprehensive sustainability in architectural designs. This research aims to build a comprehensive theoretical framework for sustainable biomimicry mechanisms in architecture. Accordingly, the concept of biomimicry in architectural design will be addressed on two levels. The first includes the concept within the field of architecture: the exterior str

Removal of Ni and Cd cations from wastewater using photocatalytic reactions: Review paper

A clean environment and human health depend on removing heavy metal ions from wastewater. Ecosystems and public health are seriously threatened by heavy metal ions, such as nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), vanadium (V), chromium (Cr), and copper (Cu). For example, because of its toxic effects, cadmium is only permitted at 0.005 mg/L in drinking water, while lead has a maximum permissible concentration of 0.015 mg/L. Heavy metal ions have been extracted from various wastewater types using methods such as adsorption, membrane filtration, chemical addition, electrochemical treatment, and photocatalysis. Nevertheless, conventional techniques frequently encounter obstacles like exorbitant operating expenses and restricted effectiven

Over the past decade, sustainable bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) have attracted significant scientific attention. However, challenges related to synthesis efficiency and environmental impact remain major concerns. In this study, we present the green synthesis of bimetallic selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) using pomegranate peel extract (PPE) as a natural, eco-friendly reducing and stabilizing agent. The synthesized nanoparticles were thoroughly characterized using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, confirming their successful formation, uniform morphology, and homogeneou

This work is concerned with the design and performance evaluation of a shell and double concentric tubes heat exchanger using Solid Works and ANSY (Computational Fluid Dynamics).

Computational fluid dynamics technique which is a computer-based analysis is used to simulate the heat exchanger involving fluid flow, heat transfer. CFD resolve the entire heat exchanger in discrete elements to find: (1) the temperature gradients, (2) pressure distribution, and (3) velocity vectors.  The RNG k-ε model of turbulence is used to determining the accurate results from CFD.

The heat exchanger design for this work consisted of a shell and eight double concentric tubes. The number of inlets are three and that of o

Kindergarten architecture plays an important role in shaping children’s perception and learning. However, many designs still fail to systematically translate educational theories into tangible spatial solutions. This gap highlights the research problem addressed in the present study as the absence of integrated architectural indicators that connect children’s perceptual development, learning styles and philosophical ideas with the design of kindergartens. The aim of the paper is to develop a consistent set of design indicators which could lead to the creation of a captivating learning environment by the architects as well as the educators. In the methodological approach, the study determines six types of learning sty

Wind energy is one of the most common and natural resources that play a huge role in energy sector, and due to the increasing demand to improve the efficiency of wind turbines and the development of the energy field, improvements have been made to design a suitable wind turbine and obtain the most energy efficiency possible from wind. In this paper, a horizontal wind turbine blade operating under low wind speed was designed using the (BEM) theory, where the design of the turbine rotor blade is a difficult task due to the calculations involved in the design process. To understand the behavior of the turbine blade, the QBlade program was used to design and simulate the turbine rotor blade during working conditions. The design variables suc

The impact of population density in sustainable housing - An applied study in the city of Baghdad (Mahalla 817), Al-Bayaa as a model

Population density represents an important indicator for determining the growth of the size of urban areas. Population density has a direct impact on the quality of life, and its excessive rise may lead to the deterioration of basic service facilities. The problem of the research is that the increase in the total population densities of the residential neighborhood may reflect negatively on the nature of the services provided to the residents in these shops, and thus the failure to achieve sustainability in the residential locality. The research assumes that the increase in population densities negatively affects the achievement of sustainability in the residential neighborhood.
