This study was aimed to synthesize a new molecularly imprinted polymer using a functional monomer of styrene(STY) and allyl chloride(ALC) and N, N-methylene bis-acrylamide (MBAA) as a cross-linker for the selective extraction of cocaine from urine samples. Cocaine is used as a template to create a monolithic solid-phase micro extraction (SPME) fiber. All of these analytical procedures were utilized to extract, preconcentrate, and selectively determine Cocaine and its derivatives (SPME) with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Samples taken from a suspected cocaine addict who was given to the medico-legal directorate as a donation (Baghdad, Iraq). The analytes were monitored using UV-Vis , (GC MS), FTIR and Scanning

The present study was confined to a taxonomical and systematical revision of all so far, recorded diatoms from study was Tigris River within Baghdad district. There is a lot of confusion in the naming and nomenclature of this and other groups of algae in Iraq and even in the whole middle east. Since various systematic categories have been used and applied for the identification of diatoms and another algal taxon. More than half of all so far, known diatoms (a total of 345 taxa) have been renamed by the most recent internationally accepted system of classification. In the current study, Bacillariophyta in Tigris involves 27 species of Coscinodiscophyceae, 48 species of Fragilariophyceae whereas, all other 267 species were found wi

This study was conducted to elucidate the effect of lowering sunflower cake degradability or seeds on puberty, testicular and blood measurements of Awassi lambs. Thirty Awassi lambs with an average body weight of 25.93 ± 0.42 kg and 3- 4 months old. Lambs were divided into three groups (10 lambs in each group) the first group was fed a diet contained 11% of sunflower cake (T1), the second group was fed a diet contained 11% of low degradable sunflower cake (T2), while the third group fed a diet that contained 11% of low degradable sunflower seeds (T3). The results indicated that reduce sunflower seeds degradability in (T3) led to a significant increase (p≤ 0.05) in the length of right and left testes (8.35 and

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in dogs is a complex, multifactorial disease that is characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and insulin resistance. Current therapeutic options are often limited by side effects and variable efficacy, highlighting the need for more effective and safer treatments. This study assessed the therapeutic potential of ginger ethanolic extract (GEE), GEE-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (GEE-CNPs), and chitosan nanoparticles (CNPs) against T2DM in dogs. Twenty adult local breed mongrel dogs of both sexes, aged 7 to 13 months, with an average body weight of 10.4±0.76 kg, were included. Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 as Biomarker for Malignant Mammary Tumors in Dogs
...Show More Authors

Canine mammary tumors (CMTs) are frequently occurring types of tumor in female dogs. Matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP-9) plays a role in dismantling the extracellular matrix during normal bodily functions and diseases, including cancer. The goal of this research was to evaluate the serum levels of MMP-9 as a potential diagnostic indicator for CMTs using the ELISA method. We collected tissue samples from mammary glands and blood specimens from 50 dogs suspected of having CMTs and 30 healthy control dogs. Histological examination was used to diagnose the mammary tumors, with findings indicating that 88% of the cases were malignant CMT and 12% were benign. According to ELISA results, there was a statistically conside

Analysis of the Role of Agricultural Investment Policies and Agricultural Lending in Developing Commodity Production of Rice Crops

This study investigates the impact of agricultural investment policy—represented by agricultural loans and investment allocations—on rice crop production in Iraq over the period 2003–2023, employing the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. Using time-series econometric analysis, the study confirms a short-term positive and statistically significant effect of financial support on rice output, while revealing statistically insignificant long-term effects. The presence of a cointegration relationship suggests long-term equilibrium between agricultural policy variables and rice production. However, the absence of causality in the Yamamoto-Toda test implies that structural and institutional inefficiencies may dilute the long-ter

Predicting gold prices is crucial for policymakers, investors, and financial planners, especially in commodity-dependent economies like Iraq. This study examines the forecasting performance of Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and Seasonal ARIMA (SARIMA) models using daily gold price data in Iraq from (April 30, 2015, to April 30, 2025). After preprocessing and testing for stationary, both models were estimated using Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) and further refined with modern machine learning post-processing, Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) method demonstrated greater stability and interpretability compared to the machine learning-based approach. However, the application of Gradient Boosted Trees (GBDT) to the

The efficacy of intraductally delivered poly(ethylene glycol)‐doxorubicin (PEG‐DOX) nanocarriers, composed of one or more DOX conjugated to various PEG polymers, was investigated in an orthotopic ductal carcinoma in situ‐like rat model. In vitro cytotoxicity was evaluated against 13762 Mat B III cells using MTT assay. The orthotopic model was developed by inoculating cancer cells into mammary ducts of female Fischer 344 retired breeder rats. The ductal retention and in vivo antitumour efficacy of two of the six nanocarriers (5 kDa PEG‐DOX and 40 kDa PEG‐(DOX)4) were investigated based o</p> ... Show More

Toxoplasmosis is regarded as one of the most important global life-threatening diseases in immune-compromised people. The intracellular protozoon Toxoplasma gondii is the causative pathogen of toxoplasmosis. Aim of this study is to investigate the possible association between T. gondii infection and breast cancer (BC) in Iraqi women, also to assess the effect of T. gondiion interleukin 10 (IL-10) of the immune response. By ELISA method, blood samples from 81 women with breast cancer and 60 apparently healthy women have been examined for presence of anti-toxoplasmaantibodies, also the levels of serum IL-10 were estimated in these subjects. Results showed that women with BC had the highest prevalence rate of toxoplasmosis. The anti- T.gondii

In this novel, Nathaniel Hawthorn presents a picture of the Puritans which shows an important part of American history. The Scarlet Letter outlines the American's brief moment of theocracy and extreme social order. Hawthorn is one of the first American writers to explore the hidden motivations of his characters. The Puritans wanted to establish an ideal community in America that can act as a model of influence for what they saw as a corrupted civil and religious order in England. This sense of mission is the core of their religious and social identity. That is why they required a strict moral regulation. The research tackles th
