USE OF PALEOMAGNETIC EVIDENCES FOR SOME TECTONIC IMPLICATIONS OF AQRA LIMESTONE OUTCROPSNORTHEASTERN IRAQ
...Show More Authors

Maastrichtian Aqra limestone Formation at Maukaba and Zardabe localities were sampled for paleomagnetic investigations. 80 oriented limestone drill cores were collected from these localities, which are situated at the northeast part of Iraq. Following stepwise thermal demagnetization procedures, two main magnetic components were determined; a low-temperature component at (20-200)ºC that is regarded as overprint secondary unstable magnetic component with magnetic direction around the present Earth’s field; and medium - high temperature component at (250-600)ºC which is carried by high coercivity magnetic grains. It shows stable magnetic component. IRM reveals that the remanent magnetization in the Aqra limestone Formation is of a depo

Predicting future climate regionally and by space images and landscape studies indicate that the major influences is the increasing of carbon dioxide which attain to more than 350 ppm. The evidences accordingly refer to the increase in the earth temperature which attains to approximately 4 C◦ and 7.2 F◦ causes rapid inversion and changing the climate, so the surface air temperature is 22 C◦ in 1999 will be accordingly more than 26 C◦ in 2090.

Object Tracking and matching in a Video Stream based on SURF and Wavelet Transform
...Show More Authors

In computer vision, visual object tracking is a significant task for monitoring
applications. Tracking of object type is a matching trouble. In object tracking, one
main difficulty is to select features and build models which are convenient for
distinguishing and tracing the target. The suggested system for continuous features
descriptor and matching in video has three steps. Firstly, apply wavelet transform on
image using Haar filter. Secondly interest points were detected from wavelet image
using features from accelerated segment test (FAST) corner detection. Thirdly those
points were descripted using Speeded Up Robust Features (SURF). The algorithm
of Speeded Up Robust Features (SURF) has been employed and impl

Genetic Algorithm based Clustering for Intrusion Detection
...Show More Authors

Clustering algorithms have recently gained attention in the related literature since
they can help current intrusion detection systems in several aspects. This paper
proposes genetic algorithm (GA) based clustering, serving to distinguish patterns
incoming from network traffic packets into normal and attack. Two GA based
clustering models for solving intrusion detection problem are introduced. The first
model coined as handles numeric features of the network packet, whereas
the second one coined as concerns all features of the network packet.
Moreover, a new mutation operator directed for binary and symbolic features is
proposed. The basic concept of proposed mutation operator depends on the most
frequent value

The aim of this project is to study the efficacy of nicotine (as nicotine sulfate)
extracted from tobacco by- products of the Iraqi Tobacco and Cigarettes Industry
against cabbage aphid Brevicoryne brassicae (L.). On the basis of LC50 values,
laboratory data have indicated a positive correlation between these values and
progress of insect life cycle . The LC50 values for the fourth nymphal instar were 4.9
more than first instar; while it was for apterae 6.5 times more than the first instar for
nicotine sulfate. The alatae were more susceptible to insecticide than apterae, where
LC50 values for apterae were 1.03 times more than that for alatae LC90 for nicotine

Neonatal diarrhea of calves is a major cause of economic loss in rearing young
calves. Buxtonella sulcata may be a potential cause of diarrhea in these animals
.This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of B. sulcata infection and its role in
diarrhea in neonatal and young calves. A total of 250 fecal samples were collected
from calves (110 male and 140 female, ages ranged 1-30 day, among which 98 had
diarrhea). Two laboratory tests were used to detect B. sulcata cysts and trophozoites
in fecal samples which are direct wet film method and ether-formalin sedimentation
method. The overall rate of infection was 43.2%. There is a significant difference in
the rate and intensity of infection betwee

Solving Nonlinear Boundary Value Problem Arising of Natural Convection Porous Fin By Using the Haar Wavelet Collocation Method and Temimi and Ansari Method
...Show More Authors

In this article, the boundary value problem of convection propagation through the permeable fin in a natural convection environment is solved by the Haar wavelet collocation method (HWCM). We also compare the solutions with the application of a semi-analytical method , namely the Temimi and Ansari (TAM), that is characterized by accuracy and efficiency. The proposed method is also characterized by simplicity and efficiency. The possibility of applying the proposed method to many types of  linear or nonlinear ordinary and partial differential equations.

A total of nine swab samples were collected from inflamed teeth and gingiva of human’soral cavity from a dentist clinic in Baghdad. All specimens were cultured in Mitis Salivarius agar medium and the isolated bacterial pure colonies werethen identified by using VITEK2. Three samples were diagnosed and identified as Staphylococcus lentus. One of the three isolates which showed a distinctive heavy growth on the media was selected for further analysis in this study. Paper disk diffusion method was used to detect the antibacterial activityof three of mouthwash solutions (Zak, Colgate and Listerine). The results showed that “Colgate” was the most active solution with antibacterial activity compared with the other two soluti

A total of 551 water samples (drinking and raw water) were collected In this study, Aeromonas.hydrophila, were detected by biochemical tests and PCR (16s rRNA gene). The results of identification showed that A.hydrophila had recovery rate 63 isolates (49.21%). The results revealed that all A.hydrophila isolates were PCR positive or the 16S rRNA gene and the results of sequencing showed that two isolates of A.hydrophila(local isolates) had percentage similarities 100% with A. hydrophila ATCC 7966 in GenBank database .All strains had a minimal Inhibitory Concentration(MIC) distribution pattern for lead cetate rranged (900-1200 μg/ml), and mercury chloride ranged (40-80 μg /ml).

After the software revolution in the last decades, the field of information technology had a tremendous evolution that made many organizations reach the best benefits from this evolution in technologies. The banking sector evolved their old system from ordinary system to the online system. The term E-banking appears to cover almost all bank operations such as money transactions, account management, instant reports, instant notifications. E-banking offers several advantages to clients, but this opens many challenges and motivates unauthorized parties to focus on creating methods and exploiting weaknesses to attack and steal critical information that belongs to the banking system or clients. Iraqi banks recently adopted E-banking se

Boosting the Network Performance using Two Security Measure Scenarios for Service Provider Network

Network security is defined as a set of policies and actions taken by a network administrator in order to prevent unauthorized access, penetrated the defenses and infiltrated the network from unnecessary intervention. The network security also involves granting access to data using a pre-defined policy. A network firewall, on the other hand, is a network appliance that controls incoming and outgoing traffic by examining the traffic flowing through the network. This security measure establishes a secure wall [firewall] between a trusted internal network and the outside world were a security threat in shape of a hacker or a virus might have existed

Placement Inverse Source Problem under Partition Hyperbolic Equation
...Show More Authors

In this article, the inverse source problem is determined by the partition hyperbolic equation under the left end flux tension of the string, where the extra measurement is considered. The approximate solution is obtained in the form of splitting and applying the finite difference method (FDM). Moreover, this problem is ill-posed, dealing with instability of force after adding noise to the additional condition. To stabilize the solution, the regularization matrix is considered. Consequently, it is proved by error estimates between the regularized solution and the exact solution. The numerical results show that the method is efficient and stable.
