    A survey of fish species in the Iraqi marine waters was carried out for the period from November 2014 to March 2018. The list included 214 species representing 75 families.

     The family Carangidae dominated the marine fishes in Iraq, which was represented by 24 species, followed by Haemulidae with 11 species, and then Serranidae and Sparidae with nine species for each, while 34 families contained a single species only.

A total of 20 healthy adult male guinea pigs were used in this study to investigate the anatomical, histological and morphometrical characteristics of the kidneys, ureter and urinary bladder. The gross anatomical study showed that the right kidney had a bean shape with reddish pink color whereas the left kidney had a heart shape. The renal cortex appeared darker than medulla with reddish brown color, while the medulla was pale in color. The leaf miners Pegoinya terbrans (Rondani) and P. bicolor (Wiedemann) (Diptera; Anthomyiidae) were newly recorded in Iraq. Host plants of these leaf miners and P. cunicularia (Rondani) were identified: P. bicolor was found to be monophagous, whereas P. terbrans and P. cunicularia were oligophagous . It was found that Cirsixim syriaca and Silybum marianum were more susceptible to P. terbrans than the other ones.
