This study was include the investigation of the antibacterial activity of ethanolic extract for (12) type of Iraqi plant leaves (Allium porrum L, Apium graveolens Mill., Cassia angustifollia Vahl., Lawsonia inermis L., Lepidium sativum L., Malva sylvestris L., Monthapiperita L., Ocimmum bassillicum L., Pettroselinum crispum Mill., Raphanus sativus L., Sponacia oleraceal. and Trigonella foenum L.). In different concentrations (20, 40, 60, 80, 100) mg/ml against Salmonella typhimurium in vitro using agar well diffusion method. All ethanolic extract of leaves showed a high activity against this bacterium except of Cassia angustifollia Vahl. as compared with the other extracts. The aim of the study was to make knowledge on the histopathological changes in some internal organs ( liver, kidney and spleen) of albino mice after treatment with therapeutic dose(16mg/kg BW/day) of pentoxifylline (PTX). Thirty albino mice which are approximately at same age (8week) and body weight were, randomly divided into three equal groups, group 1:Received tape water along the period of experiment and considered as a control group, Group 2:Treated with Pentoxifylline ( 16 mg /kgBW/day)for 30 days Group 3:Treated with Pentoxifylline ( 16 mg/kgBW/days)for 60 day. Calculations of the Quadrupole Moments for Some Nitrogen Isotopes in p and psd Shell Model Spaces Using Different Effective Charges
...Show More Authors

The electric quadrupole moments for some nitrogen isotopes (12,14,15,16,18N) are
studied by shell model calculations with the proton-neutron formalism. Theoretical
calculations performed using the different set of effective charges due to the core
polarization effect. The effective charges in the p-shell nuclei are found to be
slightly different from those in the sd-shell nuclei. Most of the results we have
obtained are underestimated with the measured data for the isotopes considered in
this work.

The analgesic activity of Mentha piperita (MP) leaves extract
...Show More Authors

In the present work, the antinociceptive action was assayed in several experiment models in mice, Hot plate, writhing and formalin test. The alcoholic extract of MP leaves at a dose of 150mg/kg B.W and 300 mg/kgB.W showed antinociceptive effects in different methods, where the dose of 300 mg/kg B.W showed significant reduction of the nociception by acetic acid. In the formalin test, the extract (300mg/kg B.W) also significantly reduced painful stimulus in both phases of the test. Treatment with extract (300mg/kg B.W) when given orally produced significant increase of the reaction time in hot plate test. These results showed that the leaves extract of MP contain active analgesic principles acting both centrally and peripherally.

The study was conducted on 35 Cross breed cows. Three–Six years old suffering from dystocia in various regions of Baghdad province during 1996-2004. The incidence of dystocia was 29.16% (35 /120) from total calving cows. The result showed that the dystocia due to fetal and the dam were 85.71%(30/35) and 14.28%(5/35) respectively. The anterior presentation percentage from fetal dystocia cases was 93.3%(28/30) while the percentage of posterior presentation was 6.6% (2/30) from these cases. Cows delivered male and female calves were formed 77.14% (27/35) and 28.57% (10/35). The calves mortality percentage in both sex was 62.85% (22 / 35). The conclusion suggested that high incidence of dystocia due to fetus was in cows calving male calves

Effect of Organic and Non Organic Acids on the Blend PES/PS/PVDF Polymer Membranes Efficiency for Microbial Fuel Cell

In this work proton exchange membranes were prepared by a modified microwave casting solution technique, using the polymers blend (polyethersulfone (PES), polystyrene (PS), polyvinylidenefluride (PVDF)). Modified casting method was used to overcome the poor compatibility between hydrophilic, (PES, PS) and hydrophobic PVDF, by cooling the substrate during the film casting process to (4.5-5.5oC). Membranes were chemically modified by three reaction types to study the differences between their effects on the required properties for microbial fuel cell application. These methods use blend organic sulfonic acid precasting process and sulfonation by sulfuric acid post-casting process (APS), blending organic

For a finite group G, the intersection graph   of G is the graph whose vertex set is the set of all proper non-trivial subgroups of G, where two distinct vertices are adjacent if their intersection is a non-trivial subgroup of G. In this article, we investigate the detour index, eccentric connectivity, and total eccentricity polynomials of the intersection graph  of subgroups of the dihedral group  for distinct primes . We also find the mean distance of the graph  .

In this paper, we establish the conditions of the occurrence of the local bifurcations, such as saddle node, transcritical and pitchfork, of all equilibrium points of an eco-epidemiological model consisting of a prey-predator model with SI (susceptible-infected) epidemic diseases in prey population only and a refuge-stage structure in the predators. It is observed that there is a transcritical bifurcation near the axial and free predator equilibrium points, near disease-free equilibrium point is a saddle-node bifurcation and near positive (coexistence) equilibrium point is a saddle-node bifurcation, a transcritical bifurcation and a pitchfork bifurcation. Further investigations for Hopf bifurcation near coexistence equilibrium point are

SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF SOME BARBITURIC ACID DERIVATIVES VIA SCHIFF΄ S BASES
...Show More Authors

The present work includes the synthesis of different Schiff bases by the reaction of aniline with benzaldehyde and its derivatives. These Schiff bases reacted with phenoxy acid chloride to yield acetanilide derivatives. The synthesis of barbituric acid derivatives has been performed by the reaction of phenoxyacetanilide derivatives with guanidine carbonate and diethyl malonate (DEM) derivatives. Elemental analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy were used to characterize the prepared compounds.
The antibacterial activity of the products were studied in vitro using disc diffusion method against two pathogenic strains of bacteria (Pseudomonas aeuroginosa and Staphylococcus aureus) and showed high activity against both types.

THE MASS TRANSFER IN UNSTABLE COMPACT BINARY STARS

The 2001 outburst of WZ Sagittae has shown the most compelling evidence yet for an enhancement of the mass transfer rate from the donor star during a dwarf nova outburst in the form of hot-spot brightening. It has been shown that even in this extreme case, the brightening can be attributed to tidal heating near the interaction point of an accretion stream with the expanding edge of an eccentric accretion disc, with no need at all for an increase in the mass transfer rate. Furthermore, it has been confirmed previous suggestions that an increase in mass transfer rate through the stream damps any eccentricity in an accretion disc and suppresses the appearance of super-humps, in contradiction to observations. Tidal heating is expected to be

Also the value of characteristic age for these stars is determined by depending on the (Ostriker and Gunn) model. The relation between luminosity and the characteristic age for a sample of MSPs stars are illustrated depending on pulse periods for these stars. The results indicate that the spin down torque must decay with the characteristic age for a sample stars which adopted. Also the results for these stars at distance 1.5 kpc from the galactic disk illustrated that the decay must due to the main energy loss mec
