FACE IDENTIFICATION USING BACK-PROPAGATION ADAPTIVE MULTIWAVENET
...Show More Authors

Face Identification is an important research topic in the field of computer vision and pattern recognition and has become a very active research area in recent decades. Recently multiwavelet-based neural networks (multiwavenets) have been used for function approximation and recognition, but to our best knowledge it has not been used for face Identification. This paper presents a novel approach for the Identification of human faces using Back-Propagation Adaptive Multiwavenet. The proposed multiwavenet has a structure similar to a multilayer perceptron (MLP) neural network with three layers, but the activation function of hidden layer is replaced with multiscaling functions. In experiments performed on the ORL face database it achieved a

Background and Objective: Public demand for procedures to rejuvenate photodamaged facial skin have stimulated the use of fractional CO2 laser as a precise and predictable treatment modality. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of fractional CO2 laser system for reducing periorbital rhytids.

Materials and Methods: twenty seven subjects with mild periocular wrinkles, and photoaged skin of the face were prospectively treated two to three times (according to clinical response) in the periorbital area with a fractional CO2 laser device equipped with a scanning hand piece. Improvements in eyelid wrinkles was evaluated clinically and photographically. Subjects also scored satisfaction and

Optimization of heavy metals chlorides resistance by Staphylococcus aureus andits ability to remove them

Three Staphylococcus aureus isolates were selected after screening on nutrient agar
media amended with 100μg/ml of five heavy metals chlorides (i.e: Aluminum Al+2, Iron
Fe+2, Lead Pb+2, Mercury Hg+2 and Zinc Zn+2) from those isolates one S. aureus (S3) isolate
was selected depending on its resistance to all heavy metals chloride. Minimum inhibitory
concentration (MIC) for this isolate was 1000μg/ml for all tested metals chlorides except
Hg+2 (300μg/ml). Growth of S. aureus (S3) was not affected in presence of pbCl2 and AlCl2
for 72hrs; however, it was affected by ZnCl2 and FeCl2 during incubation period while
mercury causes no bacterial growth. In response to various temperatures bacterial isolate

Dust storm in Erbil city as a result of climatic change in Kurdistan Region Iraq
...Show More Authors

Dust storm in Iraq is a climatic phenomenon. Dust storm data from 1992 to 2009 and data of main climatic parameters rainfall (1942 to 2010) and air temperature (1992 to 2009) of Erbil Meteorological Station were analysed. Results show an increase of the number of suspended and rising dust as well as dust storms with time. An average of the above mentioned period of all types of dust storms is individually compared with the last five years. Again, there is a noticeable increasing of the number of storms. From the results it can be seen that the months May, June, July and August have the most frequent dust conditions while months January, February, November and December the least. The annual precipitation trend line for water years has a s

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt (Na2EDTA) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution were used as extractants.  Soil washing is one of the most suitable in-situ/ ex-situ remediation method in removing heavy metals. Soil was artificially contaminated with 500 mg/kg (Pb , Cd and Ni ).  A set of batch experiments were carried out at different conditions of  extractant concentration , contact time, pH and agitation speed. The results  showed  that the  maximum removal efficiencies  of (Cd, Pb  and Ni ) were (97, 88 and 24 )&nbs

The negative effect of irradiation was continued to the subsequent developmental stages, and on adult emergence and longevity. The dose of 10 Gy reduced significantly the fecundity and hatchability at all mating types, and there was no potential to induce complete sterility in the emerged adults. Prepupal larvae were less radiosensitive than the eggs. Adult emergence at 10 and 20 Gy was 88 and 56% respectively. The fecundity was reduced significantly in two

Background: Urinary tract infections are one of the most common bacterial illnesses among the public and in hospital settings. A prevalent nosocomial disease is catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI). The risk of infection increases with urinary catheterization, making it easier for Escherichia coli to colonize the urinary system. Uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) specifically adapts to survive in challenging urinary tract conditions. Treating CAUTI accurately and effectively can be difficult. An important health concern nowadays is drug-resistant bacteria.

Boosting catalytic performance in ZSM-5 (50) catalyst cracking: microwave and Taguchi method with nitrogen activation

Microwave power has a more significant effect on cracking with less energy consumption. The microwave power and the catalysis increase the racking rate and the conversion at lower temperatures.  Accordingly, the generated hot spots in the catalyst offer a suitable condition for cracking (high rate and low temperature). The microwave technique was used to conduct the cracking of heavy naphtha. A set of experiments was done with microwave power (750–1250 W), preheating temperatures (150–250 ˚C), and space velocities (2–6 l/hr) with and without nitrogen injection. The nitrogen injection enhanced the conversion for all situations. The best result has a conversion of 47.37% with nitrogen injection at microwave power of 1250 W, a flow
