This study aims to document and describe the speech sounds and sound inventory that are present in Sorani which is dialect of Kurdish and compare the results with their English counterparts.  The research concentrates on the voicing system and the quality of Sorani sounds which are measured by using the voice onset time (VOT) of the stop consonants, and the first three formants of the vowel sounds; the closure duration of voiceless stop consonants in medial position is measured as well.

Ten native speakers of the Sorani dialect (5 males and 5 females) participated in this experiment. All speakers are between 20 and 50 years of age, were born in Sulaimanyiah, migrated to the US, and remain in the US at the time of recording.

Translating culture-specific proverbs (CSPs) is a challenging task since they often occur in a peculiar context. Further, CSPs are intended to imply meanings that extend far beyond the literal meaning of such a kind of proverbs. As far as English and Arabic are concerned, translators often encounter problems in translating CSPs due to cultural differences between the source language(SL) and the target language (TL) as well as what seems to be the lack of equivalence for some CSPs.

In this work, diamond-like carbon (DLC) thin films were prepared from Cyclohexane. Thin films were deposited on quartz substrate by atmospheric pressure Argon plasma jet system. The plasma jet system was applying high voltage sinusoidal waves of frequency 28 kHz and potential difference of 7.5kV peak to peak across the electrodes. The effect of annealing at 400, 500 and 600 °C under vacuum for two hours on optical properties and structural properties of the DLC thin films were investigated. This effect was clarified by X-ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR, UV-Visible absorption, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Raman Spectroscopy. The adsorption isotherms can be well described using the Freundlich and Temkin equations.  Out of 120 isolates from different clinical cases, only 75 were found and confirmed that they belong to the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. The result revealed that the LasB virulent gene was present in 63 isolates with 63% percentage. The gel electrophoresis showed that the molecular weight of LasB gene was 300 bp. DNA sequences of LasB gene was done, and the results showed the presence of some gene mutations like substitution, addition and deletion with 97% identity with the Refseq gene. From the other side, the results of identities of translated nucleotides sequence with the original sequence of amino acids revealed that there are no effects of gene mutations on translation of the product protein.

This research provides information on the heat transfer in the cavity by natural convection which has a partially open side with a ratio (A = 1, 0.75, 0.5, 0.25) to the surroundings for cooling. It is filled with porous media (glass beads) and saturated with air. The bottom wall was heated with a constant heat flux (q = 1500, 3000, 4500, 6000) W/m² while the top and other walls of the cavity were well insulated. Most of the structures subjected to load tests had successfully passed it, although some of them had failed in cube and core tests. It is believed that membrane action may be the most important factor that made them do so. In the present study, an attempt is made to study the effect of membrane action on load test results. In this study, two space (3-D) model frames, nine panels (3×3), [consisted of rafts, columns, beams and slabs] were prepared for load test. The results show the positive role of the membrane action especially with camber beams and slabs in successful passing of the load test. The study area included the rivers of the Al Atshan, Al Sabeel and Euphrates, which are surveyed with a length of 21, 5 and 20 km respectively. The Euphrates , the Atshan and Al Sabeel rivers were simulated by using HEC-RAS 5.0.3 software to study the real condition within the city of Assamawa. A Schiff base ligand 1,2-[Bis-(1-phenyl-2-hydroxy-2-phenyl)-amino] benzene [H2L] and its complexes with (Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II)) ions are reported. The ligand was prepared by condensation reaction of ortho-phenylenediamine in methanol under reflux with benzoin to give the mentioned ligand. Then the complexes were synthesized by adding corresponding metal salts to the solution of the ligand in methanol under reflux with 1:1 metal to ligand ratio. On the basis of molar conductance I.R., U.V-Vis, HPLC, chloride content and atomic absorption the complexes may be formulated as K2[M(L)Cl2][MII = Cu, Zn, Cd and Hg]. The data of these measurements suggest a tetrahedral geometry to complexes Cu, Zn, Cd and Hg.
 

    In this paper, we present new algorithm for the solution of the second order nonlinear three-point boundary value problem with suitable multi boundary conditions. The algorithm is based on the semi-analytic technique and the solutions which are calculated in the form of a rapid convergent series. It is observed that the method gives more realistic series solution that converges very rapidly in physical problems. Illustrative examples are provided to demonstrate the efficiency and simplicity of the proposed method in solving this type of three point boundary value problems.

     The change in the optical properties for samples of pure PVA and PVA /K2CrO4composite have been studied .The samples were prepared with different percentage (1,3,5,and 7)%wt of K2CrO4 by casting method technique .In this work ,we are study the absorption ,reflectance spectra ,absorption  coefficient, energy gap ,extinction coefficient ,and transmittance spectra as a function of wavelength range (200-800)nm ,Also  real and imaginary part of dielectric constant have been studied in the range of wave length .The results exhibit the optical properties change by the increase of K2CrO4 concentration, and the values of energy gap for indirect transitions decrease by the increase of the concentration of  K2CrO4
