The susceptibility of the primary chick embryo chorioallontoic membrane cells to infectious bronchitis virus was evaluated after twenty consecutive passages in chick embryo chorioallontoic membrane cells. Virus replication was monitored by cytopathic observation, indirect immunoperoxidase, and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). At 72 hours post-infection in third passage, the cytopathic effect was characterized by rounding up of cells, monolayer detachment, intracytoplasmic brownish colouration was readily observed by immunoperoxidase from 24hours p.i in third passage, and at all times the extracted viral RNA from IBV-infected monolayers was demonstrated by RT-PCR. Tissue culture ineffective dose50 (TCID50) was use

This study was planned to determine the prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of Salmonella spp. One hundred bovine with different age and both sexes at slaughterhouse were examined. Four hundred samples were collected from different internal organ (bile, Liver, spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes). Diagnostic study depended upon the morphological and cultural properties of the isolates on some selective media like Brilliant green, XLD, SS agar which used in addition to different biochemical tests, API-20E )Enterobacteriaceae Identification Kit.). Isolates were serotyped at the Central Public Health Laboratories (National Center of Salmonellae in Baghdad, Iraq). Eleven isolates consisting of Salmonella anatum (9.09%), S.newport (27.2

To identify the fungi associated with water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes [Mart.] Solms), an aquatic weed, which presents in Tigris river from Baghdad south ward. Five regions from middle and south of Iraq (Al-Noumanya, Saeid Bin-Jubier, Al-Azizia, Al-Reyfay and Al-Hay) were selected for this study. Twelve fungal species were isolated. Alternaria alternata, Acremonium sp and Cladsporium herbarum, were the most frequently species (91.66 % ,50 % and 25 %) respectively. The fungi Alternaria alternata, Acremonium sp. and Phoma eupyrena were more aggressive to water hyacinth as (91.66%,83,33%, and 75%) in pathogenicity test.

Experimental Study of the Performance of Compound Parabolic Concentrating Solar Collector

The design, construction and investigation of experimental study of two compound parabolic concentrators (CPCs) with tubular absorber have been presented. The performance of CPCs have been evaluated by using outdoor experimental measurements including the instantaneous thermal efficiency. The two CPCs are tested instantly by holding them on a common structure. Many tests are conducted in the present work by truncating one of them in three different levels. For each truncation the acceptance half angle (θc) was changed. Geometrically, the acceptance half angle for standard CPC is (26o). For the truncation levels for the other CPC 1, 2 and 3 the acceptance half angle were 20o, 26o and 5

The Role of Gender and Culture in Dealing with the Arab Woman's Issues Embodied in Caricatures: A Cognitive Linguistic Analysis

Gender and culture are among the factors that influence the process of understanding and interpreting different types of communication, especially images. The current study, which is a part of a master’s thesis, aims at investigating the role of gender and culture in interpreting and understanding the caricatures that deal with women’s issues in Arab societies. To this end, the researchers adopted Barthes’ (1957) concepts of denotation and connotation in his theory of mythologies in addition to Langacker’s (1987) theory of (Domains). The research concludes that the female subjects have better cognitive abilities in investing the signs within the selected caricatures. The other factor the study reached to is that the respondents

Different parameters of double pipe helical coil were investigation experimentally. Four coils were used; three with a curvature ratio (0.037, 0.031, and 0.028) and 11mm diameter of the inner tube while the fourth with 0.033 curvature ratio and 13 mm diameter of the inner tube. The hot water flow in the inner tube whereas the cold water flows in the annulus. The inlet temperatures of hot and cold water are 50 0C and 18 0C respectively. The inner mass flow rate ranges from 0.0167 to 0.0583 kg/s. The results show the Nusselt number increase with increase curvature ratio. Drought stress is a major threat on most of the agricultural crops grown in the East Mediterranean Region in the consequence of predicted global climate change (1). Therefore, improving essential cereal crops such as barley is extremely important for this region to increase yield production due to its economic interest and adaptability to dry environments (29). This two-year experiment was carried out in Kalar technical institute, in Garmian region, Iraq during the seasons of 2016-17 and 2017-18. Canopy temperature depression (CTd) and leaf senescence traits (Onset of leaf senescence (SENonset) and End of leaf senescence (SENend)) were evaluated under irrigated and rain-fed conditions for five hybrid genotypes of barley. WATERSHED PRIORITIZATION ACROSS ERBIL PROVINCE FOR SOIL EROSION MANAGEMENT VIA MORPHOMETRIC ANALYSIS

Soil erosion is one of the foremost factors giving rise to watershed deterioration due to improper and unwise utilization of natural resources without proper vision, particularly in developing countries like Iraq. Since it is not possible to implement rehabilitation programs over all areas at a time, prioritization plays a major role in identification of the areas which are in need of immediate actions. Accordingly, the current study was conducted to perform morphometric analysis as the basis for prioritization. To achieve the above objective, 30 watersheds of different scales were delineated within Erbil governorate and standard procedures were followed to carry out morphometric analysis. MULTIVARIATE MODELS FOR PREDICTING RAINFALL EROSIVITY FROM ANNUAL RAINFALL AND GEOGRAPHICAL COORDINATES IN A REGION WITH A NON- UNIFORM PLUVIAL REGIME

Soil erosion by water is a major land degradation problem because it threatens the farmer’s livelihood and ecosystem's integrity. Rainfall erosivity is one of the major controlling factors inducing this process. One obstacle of estimating the R-factor is the lack of detailed rainfall intensity data worldwide. To overcome the problem of data scarceness for individual analysis of storm events for developing the country with a non-uniform pluvial regime like the upper part of Iraq, multivariate models were derived for estimating annual rainfall erosivity. They were based on annual rainfall data and geographical coordinates of a group of meteorological stations distributed over the study area. A host of statistical indices were sel
