Specimens of the hedgehog Hemiechinus auritus Gmelin. which were trapped in two places on the Eastern shores of the Tigris River, some 50 and 60 Km, south of Baghdad. central Iraq. were searched for ectoparasites. They revealed the following parasites: One species of Anoplura: polyplex spinulosa (Burm.), family Hoplople uridae, two species of fleas: Synostrnus pallidus (Tasch.) and Ctenocephalides felis (Bouche), family pulicidae, One mite species: Ornithonyssus bacoti (Hirst), family Macronyssidae and two tick species: Rhipicephalus leporis and R. turanicum family Ixodidae. All these ectoparasite species are new records on this hedgehog in Iraq.

In an experiment designed to study the pathogenicity of two isolates of F. gigantica, one of sheep and the other of buffalo origin, twenty-one, 3- months old goats were divided into 3 equal groups. The first received 5 metacercariae per kg body weight of the sheep strain and the second group has given the same dose of buffalo strain, while the third group was left as control.

The main pathological findings were characterized as: fibrinous. perihepatitis, haemorrhagic tracts, haematomas, focal necrosis, hydroperitoneum and in the chronic phase by fibrosis and the typical pipe-stem liver. The study's goals were to separate and identify endophytic fungi from Aloe vera leaves by looking at their morphology and molecules, as well as to find the chemical compounds in the leaf extract by using HPLC, GC, and GC-Mass instruments.
