Evaluation of Some Biochemical Parameters and Hormones In Patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Iraq

The effect of myeloid leukemia,  especially cute myeloid leukemia (AML), has been widely noticed on the parameters of liver and kidney functions and the levels of certain hormones. This study aimed to evaluate a number of biochemical parameters of liver and kidney functions and hormones in Iraqi subjects with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia. Eighty newly diagnosed AML adult patients (40 males and 40 females) and forty healthy individuals (20 males and 20 females) with an age range of 16-75 years were involved in this study during their attendance at the Hematology Department of Baghdad Teaching Hospital/ Medical city in Baghdad province from March 2019 to February 2020. Blood samples were collected from all subjects for the determination of serum levels of the parameters of liver function parameters., kidney function , lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and Erythropoietin (EPO). The results showed that the serum levels of liver function parameters (alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) had highly significant increases (p< 0.01)  in AML patients (85.87±2.49 , 53.93±1.76, 150.87±7.04 U/L, respectively) as compared  to the control (30.58 ±2.04, 22.89 ±0.97, 75.51 ±2.12 U/L, respectively ). Also, the level of kidney function parameters (blood urea, creatinine and uric acid) showed highly significant increases (p< 0.01) in AML patients (58.82 ±1.49, 1.831 ±0.05, 8.34 ±0.15 mg/dl, respectively) as compared to the control (31.10 ±1.03, 0.850 ±0.02, 4.81 ±0.14 mg/dl, respectively). In addition, the level of LDH showed a highly significant increase (p< 0.01) in the patients with AML (657.72 ±80.76 U/L) as compared to the control (166.05 ±6.15 U/L). Moreover, the level of EPO showed a highly significant increase (p<0.01) in the patients with AML (11763.80 ±329.46 pg/ml ) as compared  to the control (316.94 ±34.42 pg/ml).

Reinterpretation of the two-dimensional seismic reflection of the Afaq structure region, central Iraq

This study deals with interpretation of stratigraphic and structural of Afaq structure area central Iraq in Qadisiyah province, about 25 km north of Diwaniyah, by using 2D seismic data. Synthetic traces are prepared by using available data of the well (WK-1)using a petrol software program to define and picking the reflectors on the seismic section. Structure interpretation includes picking a top of Zubair Formation (Late Cretaceous), while stratigraphic interpretation includes two reflectors Yamama and Gotnia Formation (Upper-Late Jurassic). Structure interpretation of Zubair Formation shows that the area a several minors and a short extend of faults, the fault system extends (NE-SW) direction. The structural interpretation of time and d

Study of Histological Structure of Kidney in Snake Eryx gaculus gaculus

The purpose of this study was to examine the histological structure of the kidney in snake Eryx gaculus gaculus. In present study, the snakes were collected from the city of Baghdad and transferred to the laboratory where their kidneys were dissected out. The samples were then processed to be prepared for histological examination microscopial observations showed that there is no border between the cortex and medulla regions of kidney. The kidney consists of nephrons which are composed of glomerulus surrounded by Bowman’s capsule; the other segments are proximal tubule, distal tubule and connecting tubule. The epithelial tissue lining of these segments simple cuboidal tissue.

Phytochemical screening and Free radicals scavenging activity of leaves of Echinops polyceras Boiss. grown in Syria

Free radicals are reactive compounds, their excessive production is considered to be an important cause of oxidative damage in biomolecules causing degenerative diseases. Polyphenols are one of the most important groups of secondary metabolites of plants, which have an antioxidant activity depending on their properties as hydrogen donors. Echinops polyceras Boiss. (Asteraceae) is one of Echinops genus species that spread in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine. Phytochemicals found in this species leaves have been extracted with gradient polarity solvents, and primary screening of the secondary metabolites was established. The phenolic compounds and flavonoids contents were determined. The free radicals scavenging activity was evaluated for all

The Federal Board of Supreme Audit and Role in the Assessment of Tax Performance: An Applied Research in The General Commission of Taxes

The success of any institution must be based on means to protect its resources and assets from the waste, loss, misuse and the availability of accurate and reliable data by accounting reports to increase its operational efficiency, namely, that the internal control system is considered as a safety valve for top management in any economic unit. The problem is represented by the need for an efficient system, so to ensure its success, there must exist external parties which monitor and evaluate the performance because of its importance by following clear criteria. So, the research problem came to address performance evaluation indicators which are set by the Federal Board of Supreme Audit (FBSA) and identify the extent of its contribution t

The dialectic of the intercourse and the female's lack of consent elements in the crime of rape in Bahraini law: A comparative study

The crime of rape is based on three pillars, the objective pillar which is the act of intercourse, the victim’s lack of consent pillar, and the subjective pillar, which is in the form of criminal intent, and since rape is an intentional crime, there is stability in the legal trend on its content, which is the knowledge of the perpetrator and his willingness to sexually assault the victim without consent.

However, there are many controversial issues regarding the act of sexual assault and the lack of the victim’s consent which are studied in this article.  As the difference in the definition of sexual intercourse leads to the exclusion of many acts from the concept of the crime of rape, such as the difference in what is m

ON ERROR DISTRIBUTION WITH SINGLE INDEX MODEL

In this paper, the error distribution function is estimated for the single index model by the empirical distribution function and the kernel distribution function. Refined minimum average variance estimation (RMAVE) method is used for estimating single index model. We use simulation experiments to compare the two estimation methods for error distribution function with different sample sizes, the results show that the kernel distribution function is better than the empirical distribution function.

Efficacy of Some Formulations of the Insecticide Chlorpyrifos against Microcerotermies diversus Silv. On Citrus Tree Orchards

The eflicacy  of six formula from chloropyrifos against tem1ite

Microterotermes - diversus on citrus tree orchards has been

tested years .

Data!rom field trials confirmed that Dursbau 4TC, chlorpyrifos -

500 EC and Talaban 40,8 TC at rate 100 mL L protected citrus trees for two years.  While ch1orfate. 40.8 TC, Dormate 40,8TC, Yamasban

40,8 TC protected  them for 16,16 and 12 months respectively at the same concentration.

But the rate of 5m1/ L of Dursban, chropyfros 500 EC , Chlorfat,

Tafabun yamashan and Dormate protected the trees tor 24,16,4,4,2

and 4 months  , respectively .
