The biomarker significance of three chemokines (CXCL8, CXCL10 and CXCL16) was evaluated in sera of 45 breast cancer (BC) and 28 benign breast lesion (BBL) patients, as well as 20 control women. Clinical stage and tumor expression of estrogen (ER), progesterone (PgR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) receptors were considered in this evaluation. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the use of ionizing radiation in decontaminating the
total microbial burden of Capsicum peppers (Capsium annuum), Caraway (Carum carvi), and Clove
(Dianthus caryphyllus). The spices were irradiated in polyethylene bags with 5KGy and 10KGy of
gamma radiation from Co-60 irradiator. Total number of bacteria and molds survived per gram of
spices after irradiation were calculated. Results showed that 5KGy gamma radiation reduced the total
number of bacteria by 95-98% and the number of molds and yeast by 62.8-98.2%, while 10KGy
reduced the total number of bacteria by 95.5-99.9% and the number of the molds and yeast by 67-

A spectrophotometric determination of azithromycin was optimized using the simplex model. The approach has been proven to be accurate and sensitive. The analyte has been reacted with bromothymol blue (BTB) to form a colored ion pair which has been extracted in chloroform in a buffer medium of pH=4 of potassium phthalate. The extracted colored product was assayed at 415 nm and exhibited a linear quantification range over (1 - 20) g/ml. The excipients did not exhibit any interferences with the proposed approach for assaying azithromycin in pharmaceutical formulations.

This study assessed the advantage of using earthworms in combination with punch waste and nutrients in remediating drill cuttings contaminated with hydrocarbons. Analyses were performed on day 0, 7, 14, 21, and 28 of the experiment. Two hydrocarbon concentrations were used (20000 mg/kg and 40000 mg/kg) for three groups of earthworms number which were five, ten and twenty earthworms. After 28 days, the total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) concentration (20000 mg/kg) was reduced to 13200 mg/kg, 9800 mg/kg, and 6300 mg/kg in treatments with five, ten and twenty earthworms respectively.
