Effect of SiO2 particles on the biodegradability of starch/PVA blends
...Show More Authors

The present work aimed to study the SiO2μPs, and NPs effect on the biodegradability of St/PVA blends. The samples were prepared by casting method as PVA, St/PVA blends with different concentrations (30, 40, 50, and 60 %). FTIR test was carried out for the samples preparation. The results proved some changes which might be related to changing in crystallinity of St/PVA matrix as well as physical incorporation of SiO2 μPs, and NPs addition. The enzymatic test and water uptake results proved that increase in weight loss with increases of starch ratio. The lowest weight loss was PVA; the highest weight loss is 60% St/PVA whereas the lowest weight loss is 30%St/PVA for blends involved. SiO2μPs (753.7 nm), and NPs (263.1 nm) were added at d

The aim of this experiment was to study the effect of replacing treated and untreated rice impurities with urea, with or without acetic acid on the digestibility and performance of Awassi lambs. Twenty-four Awassi male lambs, aged 3-4 months with an initial weight 25.08 ± 0.64kg were divided into six treatments in a 2×3 factorial experiment/ Completely Randomized Design. Experiment period was 56 days, 14/3/2022 to 9/5/2022, preceded by 10 days as an adaptation period. Individual feeding was conducted. All animals fed on three levels of rice impurities treated with urea (0, 50,100%) without acetic acid (T1, T2, T3) and with 1% acetic acid (T4, T5, T6) respectively. The results showed a highly increase (P<0.01) of dry matter a

FAULT TREE ANALYSIS AS A MODERN TECHNIQUE FOR INVESTIGATING CAUSES OF SOME CONSTRUCTION PROJECT PROBLEMS
...Show More Authors

Construction projects contain many problems that can occur during the execution. Each problem results from many causes. Fault tree analysis (FTA) technique is a graphical model for analyzing causes of a problem (or undesired event) using logic gates to describe combinations of individual faults that can create an undesired event. Each level of the tree lists the lower level events that are necessary to cause the event shown in the level above it. The assessment process of a problem with FTA technique can be divided into two types: qualitative and quantitative assessment. As a case study to apply FTA technique in construction field, the researcher studied a building in Baghdad that had punching shear problem to analyze the causes lead to

Stability Issues of Welded Pipe Containing Pulsatile Flows

This paper deals with the dynamics and stability behavior of a welded pipe containing flowing
fluid having a small harmonic component superposed. The equation of motion was derived to
represent the motion of a welded pipe conveying a pulsatile flow using a tensioned Euler- Bernoulli
beam theory. The finite element analysis was used to simulate the harmonic motion of a welded pipe
conveying fluid. It was shown that welded pipes with clamped-clamped and clamped-pinned supports
are subject to a multitude of parametric instabilities in all their modes. Stability maps are presented for
parametric instabilities of welded pipe with clamped-clamped and clamped-pinned ends. It is found
that the extent of the instability regio

BATTER PILES UNDER INCLINED COMPRESSIVE LOADS
...Show More Authors

The behaviour of batter piles under inclined compressive loads is of considerable importance, yet, not enough information is available in literature on the subject. The tests canied out in this paper were performed on a single inclined pile under various load inclinations in sand. The results indicate that the highest ultimate compressive load for vertical pile occurs at (30) load inclination. At small load inclinations, a positive batter pile has greater ultimate compressive load than that of a negative batter pile. The trend changes at higher Ioad inclinations. The slip surface analysis is recognised to be too complicated to have a definite
solution.

Such expansion with the absence of bi-lateral agreement between the three riparian countries of Tigris and Euphrates Rivers; Turkey, Syria and Iraq, is expected to lead to a substantially reduction of water inflow to the territories of Iraq. Accordingly, this study consists of two parts: first part is aiming to study the changes of the water inflow to the territory of Iraq, at Turkey and Syria borders, from 1953 to 2009; the results indicated that the annual mean inflow in Tigris River was decreased from 677 m3/sec to 526 m3/sec, after operating Turkey reserv

The Effect of Adding High-Density Polyethylene Polymer on the Engineering Characteristics for Sandy Soil

The loose sand is subject to large settlement when it is exposed to high stresses. This settlement is due to the nature of the high drainage of sand, which displays foundations and constructions to a large danger. The densification of loose sandy soils is required to provide sufficient bearing capacity for the structures. Thus soil stabilization is used to avoid failure in the facilities. Traditional methods of stabilized sandy soil such as fly ash, bituminous, and cement often require an extended curing period. The use of polymers to stabilize sandy soils is more extensive nowadays because it does not require a long curing time in addition to being chemically stable. In this study, the effect of adding different percent

Reverse osmosis technique was used for the treatment of industrial waste water. Feed water containing the above mentioned ions was fed to the RO unit at feed flow rates (0.4 and 0.8 lit/min) and different operating pressure (2-4bar) .It is concluded that increasing operating pressure and feed flow rate improved the separation by a decrease in the concentration of ions in the product. The behavior of the bond between the reinforcing bar and the surrounding concrete is significant to evaluate the cracking control in serviceability limit state and load capacity in the ultimate limit state. In this investigation, the bond stresses between reinforcing bar and reactive powder concrete (RPC) was considered to compare it with that of normal strength concrete (NSC).
