Nano -Quartz Extraction from Acidic Activated Iraqi Bentonite
...Show More Authors

The purpose of this study is the activation of natural Iraqi bentonite that has been obtained from Wadi Bashira region, in the Western Desert of Iraq, to obtain the Nano particle sized then Nano-Quartz was extracted. This method included bentonite nano particles preparation by purification with HCl solution, calcination, the planetary ball mill to get bentonite in nanometer size and centrifugation to obtain the Nano-quartz. Results of quartz purification process were characterized by Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), particle size analyzer (PSA) and the X-rays diffraction (XRD). All tests have shown almost a clear decline in the proportion of the high-calcium in crude Iraqi bentonite in conjunction with an increase in high rates of silica in Quartz phase.

The effect of heat treatment on the optical properties of organic semiconductor (NiPc/C60) thin films
...Show More Authors

Thin films of the blended solution of (NiPc/C60) on glass substrates were prepared by spin-coated method for three different ratios (100/1, 100/10 and 100/100). The effects of annealing temperature and C60 concentration on the optical properties of the samples were studied using the UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy and FTIR spectra. The optical absorption spectrum consists of two main bands, Q and B band, with maxima at about (602-632) nm and (700-730) nm for Q1 and Q2 respectively, and (340-375) nm for B band. The optical energy gap were determined from optical absorption spectra, The variation of optical energy gap with annealing temperature was nonsystematic and this may be due to the improvement in crystal structure for thin films. Optical Properties of Mixed ZnO: Fe2O3 Grown via Pulsed laser deposition
...Show More Authors

In this study, mixing of  zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles with iron oxide(Fe2O3) at      (0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 1)%wt., are deposited on glass substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique for study characterization ZnO:Fe2O3 as solar cell electrode. The profound effect of mixed film on the structural and optical of ZnO: Fe2O3 thin films was observed. Meanwhile, the films have polycrystalline Hexagonal structures for ZnO, Rhombohedra and cubic structure for Fe2O3, and as indicated by the X-ray diffraction patterns of the films. The mean crystallite size of ZnO increase with increasing mixed ratio. The direct energy

Electronic Structure and Optical Properties of Gaas1-Xpx: A First-Principles Study
...Show More Authors

In this work, the effects of x-value on electrical and optical properties was studied for the two dimensional (2D)GaAs1-xPxstructure by applying the density functional theory. We found that the gallium arsenide(GaAs) and gallium phosphide(GaP) monolayers are bound to each other, while the charge transfer between these two materialsleads to tuning the band gap value between 1.5 eV for GaAs to 2.24 eV for GaP. The density of state, band structure, and optical properties are investigated in this paper.

Experimental Study the Effect of Tool Design on the Mechanical Properties of Bobbin Friction Stir Welded 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy
...Show More Authors

Bobbin friction stir welding (BFSW) is a variant of the conventional friction stir welding (CFSW); it can weld the upper and lower surface of the work-piece in the same pass. This technique involves the bonding of materials without melting. In this work, the influence of tool design on the mechanical properties of welding joints of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy with 6.25 mm thickness produced by FSW bobbin tools was investigated and the best bobbin tool design was determined. Five different probe shapes (threaded straight cylindrical, straight cylindrical with 3 flat surfaces, straight cylindrical with 4 flat surfaces, threaded straight cylindrical with 3 flat surface and threaded straight cylindrical with 4 flat surfaces) with various dimensio

Study of Micellar Behavior of a Tween 80 Surfactant in Aqueous Media Containing Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride
...Show More Authors

The surface properties of mixtures of a nonionic surfactant Tween 80 (Tw 80) and a cationic drug, diphenhydramine HCl (DPH) have been investigated. This was done by calculating the surface excess concentration (Γmax), minimum molecular area (Amin), surface pressure at the CMC (ᴨcmc), Gibbs Free Energy of adsorption (ΔG°ads), Gibbs free energy of micellization (ΔG°m), the standard enthalpy of micellization (ΔH°m), and the standard entropy of micellization (ΔS°m). The calculation was performed using the surface tension in the temperature range of 293-323 K with the variation of surfactant concentration to determine the crit

EVALUATION OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF HIGH PERFORMANCE SELF-CONSOLIDATED CONCRETE ENHANCED BY DISCRETE STEEL AND POLYPROPYLENE FIBERS
...Show More Authors

High performance self-consolidating concrete HP-SCC is one of the most complex types of concrete which have the capacity to consolidated under its own weight, have excellent homogeneity and high durability. This study aims to focus on the possibility of using industrial by-products like Silica fumes SF in the preparation of HP-SCC enhanced with discrete steel fibers (DSF) and monofilament polypropylene fibers (PPF). From experimental results, it was found that using DSF with volume fraction of 0.50 %; a highly improvements were gained in the mechanical properties of HP-SCC. The compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength and elastic modulus improved about 65.7 %, 70.5 %, 41.7 % and 80.3 % at 28 days age, respectively

...Show More Authors

DFT (3-21G, 6-31G and 6-311G/ B3LYP) and Semi-empirical PM3 methods were applied for calculating the vibration frequencies and absorption intensities for normal coordinates (3N-6) of the Tri-rings layer (6,0) Zigzag single wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) at their equilibrium geometries which was found to have D6h symmetry point group with C-C bond alternation in all tube rings.as well as mono ring layer. Assignments of the modes of vibration were done depending on the pictures of their modes applying by Gaussian 03 program. The whole relations for the vibration modes were also done including (CH stretching, CC stretching, deformation in plane of the molecule (δCH, δring and δCCC), deformation out of plane of the molecule (CH and

...Show More Authors

The structural properties of ternary chalcopyrite AgAlSe2 compound alloys and thin films that prepared by the thermal evaporation method at room temperature on glass substrate with a deposition rate (5±0.1) nm s-1 for different values of thickness (250,500 and 750±20) nm, have been studied, using X-ray diffraction technology. As well as, the optical properties of the prepared films have been investigated. The structural investigated shows that the alloy has polycrystalline structure of tetragonal type with preferential orientation (112), while the films have amorphous structure. Optical measurement shows that AgAlSe2 films have high absorption in the range of wavelength (350-700 nm). The optical energy gap for allowed direct

Dielectric behavior and AC electrical conductivity analysis of PMMA films
...Show More Authors

PMMA films of different thickness (0.006, 0.0105, 0.0206, 0.0385 and 0.056cm) were synthesized by casting process. The temperature and frequency dependence of dielectric constant and AC electrical conductivity measurements at various frequencies (10kHz-10MHz) and temperatures (293-373K) were carried out. Few anomalies in dielectric studies were observed near 313 and 373 K respectively. These points were related to glass transitions temperature. The variation of activation energy and conduction behavior was studied .From the AC conduction studies, it is confirmed that the mechanism responsible for the conduction process is hopping of carriers. The variations of the dielectric constant and loss as function of frequency at different tempera
