I study chemistry teaching methods because this field is close to the student, as it takes into account his differences, inclinations, desires and needs, and not just the transmission and memorization of information, in terms of the use of similes and symbols, and the use of diverse teaching methods, breaking the routine of memorization and indoctrination. The student finds enjoyment in the lesson as it takes into account the psychological aspect, and I find enjoyment in this aspect and consider it one of the important educational fields.Through my modest experience in this field, my supervision of implementers in schools, and taking into account the teachers’ opinions.

The present research aims to identify thecorrelation between cognitive motivation andthe trend towards the teaching profession among students of the Department of Chemistry in theFaculty of Education for Pure Sciences - Ibn al-Haytham, as well as to identify the differences in the relationship according to the variable type (male, female). The measures of cognitive motivation and the trend towards the teaching profession were applied, using pearson's correlation coefficient,t-testfor one sample, andthe t-test of two separate samples.
