هدف البحث الى التعرف على الإجازات العلمية التي منحها علماء الموصل لطلبة العلم في القرنين السادس والسابع الهجريين، فقد تميزت مدينة  الموصل بوجود العديد من العلماء والشيوخ الذين برعوا في مجالات عدة ، ومنهم منّ منح الإجازات العلمية لطلبة العلم الذين كانوا يشدون الرحال الى مدينة الموصل من أجل طلب العلم أو سماع شيخ من الشيوخ للحصول على الإجازة العلمية، لاسيما في مجال العلوم الدينية ومنها القراءات ،والحديث و

   ظهر في مدينة مرو خلال القرن الخامس الهجري بعض العلماء المراوزة ممن كانت لهم اهتمامات موجهة نحو العلوم العقلية،  ومما تجدر الاشارة اليه، انه من خلال البحث بين التراجم والمصادر والمصنفات المختلفة لم تسعفنا الا بعدد ضئيل منهم، يمكن القول وهو واضح وبصورة جليّة لاي قارىء انه لا يوازي الاهتمام بالعلوم الدينية المهمة البارزة على المسرح الفكري لمدينة مرو، وخاصة علمي الحديث والفقه ، إذ يعدّان اوسع العلوم

للشعب العربي ولع عميق و ميل شديد إلى الأسفار و الإنتقال من بلد إلى آخر ، لا تثنيهم عن ذلك صحارى واسعة و لابحار شاسعة أو مشاق عنيفة . و قد توارثوا هذا الميل منذ زمن قديم فأوغلوا في قارة آسيا و أفريقيا و أوربا وغيرها . و شقت سفنهم الخليج العربي و المحيط الهندي و البحر المتوسط و بحار اخرى . و لعل هذا الميل إلى الأسفار و الولع بالاغتراب قد عبًر عن نفسه بصورة أدبية في قصص السندباد و بصورة فعلية برحلة إبن جبير و رحلة إبن
