Three-dimensional seismic reflection study was conducted for the Eastern
Baghdad oil field which is located in the middle part of Iraq within Al-Madaaen
province that belong to Baghdad governarate, South of Diyala River , this field
includes two southern parts (S1 and S2), the study area was about 781.905 km 2 for
the upper Cretaceous age, synthetic seismogram was generated from data of EB-5
and EB-1 wells. Saadi reflector was picked and identified to determine the Hartha
Formation. The seismic sections and time slice maps confirmed that the upper
Cretaceous age was affected by faults and the indicators of faults ended within
Hartha Formation and continue to the deeper formations with increasing intensity.

In this research, a comprehensive case study was conducted to a dust storm that occurred on 20 March 2016 from many perspectives: synoptic, satellite imagery, dust concentration analysis, visibility reduction, and aerosol optical depth. The study shows that the dust storm initiated inside Syria and moved eastward with the movement of the front. This study was done to find the effect of Tigris-Therthar channel on the water quality of Tigris River to face the climate change which causes decreasing in water resources, in addition to decreasing in its quality. Nine stations were chosen located on Tigris River, Tigris-Therthar channel, Groundwater, and Therthar lake. The results indicated that the TDS increased in summer season, and the effect of Tigris-Therthar cannel was limited, also the effect of groundwater was limited, but there was an indication refers of possibility of increasing these effects on the quality of water. The study recommends observing the Tigris River through a programme to identify any change in water in future.

In this study, radon concentrations were measured in dwellings at specified locations in Baghdad city using ionization chamber radon monitor (ALPHA GUARD PQ2000 PRO). The measurements were carried out at different locations of these dwellings (living rooms, bed rooms, bath rooms, and kitchens). The results of the survey showed that the overall minimum, maximum average and mean average radon concentrations in dwellings were 5.77±0.73 Bq/m3, 23.27±13.57 Bq/m3, and 10.67±4.14 Bq/m3 respectively. This study aims to assess the suitability of the sediments present in Tigris River, Tikrit city, northern Iraq for concrete production and road building purposes. Representative samples were collected from three selected stations at the study area using the channel modeling method. According to the grain size analysis, the sediments were classified as a type of poorly graded gravels (GP) depending on the unified soil classification system. The true specific gravity of the soil ranged between 2.28 and 2.568. The chemical analysis of the study samples revealed that gypsum content ranged between 0.82 and 1.69 %. Total Electron Content measurements derived from Athens station ionograms (ITEC),
located near Iraq, during the ascending phase of solar cycle 24 (July 2009- April 2010),
according to availability of data, are compared with the latest version of the International
Reference Ionosphere model, IRI-2012 (IRI TEC), using two options (NeQuick, IRI01-
Corr) for topside electron density.
The results obtained from both (ITEC and IRI TEC) techniques were similar, where
correlation coefficients between them are very high. Generally, the IRI predictions
overestimate the ITEC values.

This study aims to assess the concentrations of some Poly Aromatic
Hydrocarbons in water, in order to monitor effectively and provide possible
recommendations to improve the water quality in the aquatic ecosystem of Tigris
River near Al-Dora refinery. Distribution and concentration of the sixteen polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were studied in surface water. Solid-phase extraction

studied in thirteen sediment samples from Al-Hammar Marsh.

The study includes 23 isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from wound
infections .The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) to each of Levofloxacin
and Ceftazidime for these isolates were determined. The results showed 11(47.8%)
isolates sensitive to both antibiotics, 5(21.7%) isolates resistant to each one of the
antibiotics and 7(30.5%) isolates appeared resistance to one of them and sensitive to

β -galactosidase enzyme was extracted from the new born sheep brain by nine
solutions, It was found that the0.2 M sodium acetate and 0.2M NaCl give a highest
specific activity of crude enzyme. This enzyme was concentrated by four methods,
includes: concentration by ammonium sulfate (20-60%); old acetone; ethanol (30%-
60%) and by ultra filtration. It was found that the cold acetone was the better. The
purification folds were about 124.78 times and yield about 77.39%. The molecular
weight of this enzyme about 185.942 Kilo Dalton.

Effects of Trebon (Etofenprox) and its residues in Gambusia affinis were investigated .The fish were exposed to various doses of the insecticide during aperiod of 96 hours. The LC50 was 0.027 mg / l . Residues of Trebon in tissues of fishes weighting 0.35 g exposed to high concentration of the insecticide in water which killed 100% of the fish was 0.02696 mg/g fish as analysed by the UV-visible spectrophotometer.

Pollen of Phlomis spp. grown wildly in Iraq has been investigated for the first
time, as a part of comparative study for the species of this genus.
Description of these pollen were important in diagnosis of this spp., the study
showed that pollen were isopolar and a single pollen is tricolpate, with reticulate
surface, and spherical -subspherical, in polar view, and almost ellipsoid to shortly
ellipsoid in equatorial view, but it was spherical in P. oliveri Bth.;
The longest axis of the pollen is ٤٨ um, thus all the species included in present study
were of medium size. Pollen of P.oliveri was the smallest in size, while pollen of
P.rigida Labill was the biggest.
