Abstract Purpose of research: The purpose of the article is to conduct a comparative analysis of the concept and types of puns in the Russian and Arabic languages. The main focus is on identifying similarities and differences in the definition of a pun, as well as analyzing its various types in both languages. The purpose of the study is to understand how puns are used to achieve comic or semantic effect in different cultural contexts. Methods: The study includes an analysis of literature providing information about puns in Russian and Arabic. For comparative analysis, methods were used to compare concepts, definitions and types of puns in both languages. The phonetic, semantic and syntactic aspects of the pun are considered, and cultural features are also taken into account. Results: The study revealed similarities and differences in the understanding of puns in Russian and Arabic. Various types of puns are analyzed and the peculiarities of their use in both languages are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the phonetic, semantic and syntactic aspects of this stylistic figure. Conclusion: The conclusion summarizes the results of the study. The main conclusions from the comparative analysis of puns in Russian and Arabic are highlighted, and key differences and similarities are highlighted. The importance of cultural characteristics for the perception and use of puns in each of the linguistic communities is emphasized. The present research aims to measure concentration of lead Pb214 in soil using remote sensing and GIS, associated radiological hazards in Baghdad, Iraq. Concentration of specific radioactivity of radioactive elements was measured and analyzed naturally and artificially in 48 soil samples for separate sites from Baghdad, Iraq using crystalline spectroscopy to detect germanium. The paper exposes a discourse taxonomy of language clichéd units in English and Russian, and presents some definitions of what is a cliché as being a semioticform of perceiving language and discourse. Also, it deals with language clichés as being units of structure reflecting a scheme of stereotypical situations of dialogue, whether among individuals of one culture, or in relation to cross-cultural communication. The paper proposes a taxonomy of units in language clichés in English and Russian by tackling clichés of daily use, such as professional, cultural, artistic, and scientific clichés.
