Over the course of two centuries, Portugal emerged as one of the most powerful European empires, with colonies stretching from Asia and Africa to Brazil. A significant factor in this expansion was the role of winds, which carried one of Cabral’s ships westward, landing unexpectedly on unknown shores—the Brazilian coasts. These territories later became some of Portugal’s richest and most important colonies. Therefore, the study begins in the 16th century and concludes at the end of the 17th century. The study was divided into four sections. The first section addressed Portugal's discovery 0022 of Brazil and its naming before it gained economic importance. The second section discussed the Portuguese occupation of Brazil in 1530 and its administrative division. The third section addressed the economic effects of Portuguese colonialism in Brazil and the economic interests and development of the Portuguese economy that resulted from the occupation. The fourth section addressed the cultural and social effects that resulted from this occupation, including the formation of a new society based on marital relationships, the emergence of a new element in Brazilian society from the native-born, and the cultural impact of missionary missions on society, which created the spread of schools and universities and the construction of new cities. The study relied primarily on the documentary book "EARLY BRAZIL: A Documentary Collection to 1700," an important book that informed the study in most of its sections, particularly the second section on the importance of the division of Brazil after its discovery, the third section on the economic repercussions, and the fourth section on the social effects. The study also relied on the book "The Portuguese Overseas as Expansion (1415-1825)," which informed the second and third sections on administrative divisions and how to manage provinces, as well as the beginnings of economic exploitation of timber, dyes, and sugar cultivation. The study also relied on websites and other foreign and Arabic books.
Some new norms need to be adapted due to COVID-19 pandemic period where people need to wear masks, wash their hands frequently, maintain social distancing, and avoid going out unless necessary. Therefore, educational institutions were closed to minimize the spread of COVID-19. As a result of this, online education was adapted to substitute face-to-face learning. A specific, sensitive and new simple method was used for the determination of methyldopa in pure and pharmaceutical formulations by using continuous flow injection analysis. This method is based on formation of ion pair compound between methyldopa and potassium hexacyanoferrate in acidic medium to obtain a yellow precipitate complex using long distance chasing photometer (NAG-ADF-300-2). There is a correlation between the occurrence of anxiety and the production of inflammatory mediators, and red ginger rhizome is a well-known herbal product with a high content of phenolic and flavonoid compounds that can be used as anti-inflammatories and antioxidants. The aim of study to evaluate the effect of red ginger as antianxiety in mice (Mus musculus) BALB/c strain by measuring levels of TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-10. Anxiety model mice were carried out by giving treatment with the Forced Swimming Test (FST) for 7 days then assessed by carrying out the Elevated Plus Maze for Mice (EPM) test for one day. This study uses an environmentally friendly and low-cost synthesis method to manufacture zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) by using zinc sulfate. Eucalyptus leaf extract is an effective chelating and capping agent for synthesizing ZnO NPs. The structure, morphology, thermal behavior, chemical composition, and optical properties of ZnO nanoparticles were studied utilizing FT-IR, FE-SEM, EDAX, AFM, and Zeta potential analysis. The FE-SEM pictures confirmed that the ZnO NPs with a size range of (22-37) nm were crystalline and spherical. Two methods were used to prepare ZnO NPs. This study expands the state of the art in studies that assess torsional retrofit of reinforced concrete (RC) multi-cell box girders with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips. The torsional behavior of non-damaged and pre-damaged RC multi-cell box girder specimens externally retrofitted by CFRP strips was investigated through a series of laboratory experiments. It was found that retrofitting the pre-damaged specimens with CFRP strips increased the ultimate torsional capacity by more than 50% as compared to the un-damaged specimens subjected to equivalent retrofitting.
