Determination of the level of adipokines (obestatin, vaspin, tumor necrosis factor-? and interleukin-6)in hypo-and hyperthyroid patients from Educational Baghdad Hospital in Baghdad City was investigated. Fifty patients with hypothyroidism and Fifty patients with hyperthyroidism were selected. A control group of thirty euthyroid persons was included. Blood was collected by vein puncture and serum was separated and stored at –20C. Adipokines (obestatin, vaspin, tumor necrosis factor-? and interleukin-6) were estimated using ELISA method. The findings show a significant (p<0.05) increase in obestatin level in hypothyroid patients, while there is no significant difference in hyperthyroid patientsas compared with the euthyroid subjects.

The aim of this study was to determine the antimicrobial effect of alcoholic leaves extract of Salvia officinalis on Multidrug resistant (MDR) P. aeruginosa. Using the well diffusion test, the alcoholic leaves extract at 100mg/ml and 200 mg /ml was shown to possess antimicrobial activity against the tested microorganism. The research was conducted to study the effect of adding different concentrations of AgNo3 Nanoparticles (0,0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0) mg/ l in the production of some secondary metabolic compounds(Quercetin, Luetolin and Apigenin) of plant Dodonaea viscosa L. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of secondary metabolites were estimated by using( HPLC ). The explants from leaves were culture on MS media supplemented with 2mg/l of 2,4-D, 0.5mg/l of NAA and 0.5 mg/l of BA for callus induction. Adding AgNo3 Nanoparticles (2 mg/l) cause in significant increase of Quercetin and Luetolin production, while adding AgNo3 Nanoparticles (0.5mg/l) led to significant increase of Apigenin in callus extract.

The work included study of external morphology of white cabbage butterfly Pieris rapae (Linnaeus, 1758). The study included the external morphological characters of different body regions in addition to the male and female genitalia. The studied morphological characters were supported by photos and illustrations. Specimens of the work were collected from north and middle of Iraq and dates and sites of collection were fixed.

Trials were carried out in the middle of Iraq ( 3 different sites ) during 2009 to detecation and determined the seasonal occurrence of Agriotes lineatus L. Three YATOR funnel traps were used in each of these sites which baited with the specific pheromone of A. lineatus from the first of March to the end of October in the College of Agriculture - Abu- Ghraib / Provenance of Baghdad and AL-Nile / Provenance of Babylon , while in AL-Radhwania was used through May- June. Pheromone dispenser were changed every 6 weeks in each of these traps . Males of A. lineatus were found in all of the three sites , and the total number capture were 208 , 897 and 57 male / 3 traps / season in College of Agriculture , AL-Nile and AL-Radhwania respectiv
