Communicative Competence of University Students
...Show More Authors

Abstract

The current research aims to identify the communicative competence of university students, to identify the levels of communicative competence among university students and which of these levels are more common, and to identify the significance of differences in communicative competence among university students according to the variables of gender and specialization. The study population consisted of (782) male and female students, as the statistical analysis sample was limited to (400) male and female students to extract the psychometric properties of the current research tool. The study sample included (382) male and female students at the University of Baghdad who were chosen by the stratified random method from the scientific and humanity colleges. To achieve the objectives of the current study, the researcher developed a communicative competence test according to (Hymes, 1972) theory.  A stands for the high level of communicative competence given (3) degrees, b represents the medium level of communicative competence and is given (2) degrees, and c represents the low level of communicative competence and is given (1) degree. The results showed that university students have communicative competence. The moderate level (b) of communicative competence is the dominant and the most common level. There are no statistically significant differences between males and females. There are no statistically significant differences according to the specialization variable (scientific, human). Finally, there is no interaction between gender and the specialization of the study sample.

CHECKLIST OF DARKLING BEETLES (COLEOPTERA, TENEBRIONIDAE) IN IRAQ
...Show More Authors

In the current review, an updated list of dark beetle species (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae) recorded in Iraq was given. The current paper is based on previous studies in the literature and contains all dark beetles referred to in Iraq, except for the species within the Pimelinae subfamily. The investigation of this review showed the presence of 89 species belonging to 34 genera within five subfamilies. This work included mentioning the basionyms and synonyms for genera and species with their global distribution, as well as, correcting the scientific names that were mentioned in the previous checklists.

Contamination Effect of Arsenic Trioxide on White Rat
...Show More Authors

Widely present in the environment, arsenic trioxide has been identified as a genotoxic substance that poses a serious risk to public health. The genotoxic potential of arsenic at low allowable dosage levels is assessed in this study. Four groups of twelve adult rats each were created from the 48 total. Animals in Group I were used as controls Chromosome abnormalities found in bone marrow cells were used to assess the mutagenic potential of arsenic. Hematological parameters were also assessed. At 60 and 90 days, the percentage of microsomal degranulation in the hepatic fraction increased and the amounts of RNA and proteins considerably reduced (P < 0.01) in all three dosages given. was employed in order to assess hematological par

Applications Of Strong-Lensing For Some Gravitational Lenses
...Show More Authors

In our work present, the application of strong-Lensing observations for some gravitational lenses have been adopted to study the geometry of the universe and to explain the physics and the size of the quasars. The first procedure was to study the geometrical of the Lensing system to determine the relation between the redshift of the gravitational observations with its distances. The second procedure was to compare between the angular diameter distances "DA" calculated from the Euclidean case with that from the Freedman models, then evaluating the diameter of the system lens. The results concluded that the phenomena are restricted to the ratio of distance between lens and source with the diameter of the lens noticing.

Synthesis and Environmental Application of BiOI/BiOCl Composites
...Show More Authors

This work illustrates an enhanced visible light photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange dye (M.O.) by employing BiOI / BiOCl composites prepared under room temperature and without any organic precursors. Various experimental parameters have been studied, namely; composition of the composite, irradiation time and cell material. Composition D which implied 75% BiOI and 25% BiOCl has shown the highest bleaching of M.O. dye. This confirms the optimum photo-sensitization phenomenon for this composition in comparison to others. In the optimum photo-sensitized composite the electron of the conduction band reveals better reducing power and the hole of the valence band exhibits more oxidative power than those of pure BiOI electron and hole. Analysis of a harvested discrete-time biological models
...Show More Authors

This work aims to analyze a three-dimensional discrete-time biological system, a prey-predator model with a constant harvesting amount. The stage structure lies in the predator species. This analysis is done by finding all possible equilibria and investigating their stability. In order to get an optimal harvesting strategy, we suppose that harvesting is to be a non-constant rate. Finally, numerical simulations are given to confirm the outcome of mathematical analysis.

THE USE OF AMBIGUOUS IRONY IN ANDALUSIAN POETRY
...Show More Authors

Among the findings of the research are:
1. This type of ambiguity is old in use and was adopted by the Arab poets as a
reaction against hyperbole and as a tendency towards compression of expression that
results in an. amusing suspension through the use of irony. The Andalusian poets
tended to employ this form because it involves interaction and interrogation,
2. Furthermore, it indicates the poet’s insight, talent and skill and it is, therefore,
regarded as a form. Of verse discourse that appeals to the reader, in contrast to
hyperbole.
3. Its presence in Andalusian poetry is evident n eulogy and descriptive poetry and it
held a place of prominence as a poetic form in achieving these purposes.

Scaling of High‐Performance Organic Permeable Base Transistors
...Show More Authors

Organic permeable‐base transistors (OPBTs) show potential for high‐speed, flexible electronics. Scaling laws of OPBTs are discussed and it is shown that OPBT performance can be increased by reducing their effective device area. Comparing the performance of optimized OPBTs with state‐of‐the‐art organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs), it is shown that OPBTs have a higher potential for an increased transit frequency. Not only do OPBTs reach higher transconductance values without the need for sophisticated structuring techniques, but they are also less sensitive to parasitic contact resistances. With the help of a 2D numerical model, the reduced contact resistances of OPBTs are explained by a homogeneous injection of current acros
