Synthesis ,Characterization and Study of Liquid Crystalline Behavior of New Bent Core Mesogenes Derived From Isophthalic Acid
...Show More Authors

Two series of bent core mesogen containing 1,2,4-traizole ring [X]a-e and [XI]a-e were synthesized by many steps starting from esterification of isophthalic acid with methanol to yield diester compound [I] which was converted to their acid hydrazide [II] and the acid hydrazide reacted with ammonium thiocyanate or phenyl isothiocyanate to yield compounds [III] and [IV] , respectively . Then cyclization by 4% NaOH to yielded 1,2,4 traizole-3- thiol compounds [V] and [VI], respectively, afterword adding hydrazine hydrate to yield compounds [VII] and [VIII] .These compounds condensated with different substituted aldehyde to give new Schiff bases[X]a-e and [XI]a-e,respectively. The synthesized compounds were characterized by melting points , FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy (some of them). The liquid crystalline properties were studied by hot stage polarizing microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry DSC for compound [X]b . The compounds [X]b , [X]c and [X]d showed mesomorphism properties while the other compounds did not show any mesomorphic behavior.

Replication and attenuation of foot and mouth disease virus in chick embryo
...Show More Authors

This study includes replication and attenuation of foot and mouth disease virus type O which isolated from infected calves. Many passages for the virus in chick-Embryo were established as a substitute method to the tissue culture which is highly caustic in contrast to the chick embryo. The virus passed ten consequent passages which lead to the reduce of the titer of the virus from 106.53 TCID50/ 0.1 ml in cattle testis tissue culture to 103 TCID50/ 0.1 ml. the pathogenecity of attenuated FMD virus were also studied in both chick-embryo and guinea pigs. Using agar gel diffusion test precipitation antibodies was detected in guinea pig serum after 14 and 21 days post exposure to the attenuated virus. The inoculated guine

Odontogenic Cysts and Tumors of Maxilla and Maxillary Sinus (A Clinicopathological Analysis)
...Show More Authors

Background: Knowledge about the prevalence and distribution of pathologies in a particular location is important when a differential diagnosis is being formulated. The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence and the clinicopathological features of odontogenic cysts and tumors affecting the maxilla and to discuss the unusual presentation of those lesions within maxillary sinus.

Materials and Methods: A multicenter retrospective analysis was performed on pathology archives of patients who were diagnosed with maxillary odontogenic cysts and tumors from 2010 to 2020. Data were collected with respect to age, gender and location.

Result: A total of 384 cases was identified, 320 (83.3%) cases were diagnosed as odontogenic

Wave speed and reflections proximal to aneurism and stenosis of flexible tubes
...Show More Authors

Arterial aneurism and stenosis are disorders that lead to circulation malfunction. Stenosis often leads to hypoxia of the organ depending on the affected artery, whilst aneurism can lead to dissection with known lethal consequences. On both cases, the pulse wave produced by the contracting heart is reflected at these discontinuities, and estimating the size of these reflected waves using wave intensity analysis (WIA) is the main aim of this work. We also aim to measure wave speed, or pulse wave velocity (PWV) as more commonly known within the discontinuities. We manufactured 4 stenosis and 4 aneurism silicon sections, connected one at a time to a mother tube, and tested in vitro. Pressure and flow were measured proximal to the discontinuity

The relationship between obesity and plasma level of factor V and fibrinogen
...Show More Authors

Background:  Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it has an adverse effect on health. . It measured by BMI (body mass index), obesity is considered when the BMI is ≥ 30 kg/m2. It increases the risk of coronary heart disease, Diabetes Mellitus and Cancer. Chronic inflammation and impaired fibrinolysis in obesity may induce thrombosis.

Aim of study: assess the effect of BMI (body mass index) on plasma level of Factor V and fibrinogen in obese and normal weight subjects.

Methods: This study was started on December 2015 and completed on June 2016, and included 51 obese attended alyarmouk Teaching Hospital. As well 2

Insignificant Effects of Coloring and Labeling on Memory Span and Serial Recall
...Show More Authors

Human perception involves many cognitive processes, such as memory, attention, and critical thinking. An important cognitive process is memory, which is usually connected with the storing and retrieval of information. Different colors and labeling have diverse physiological effects on humans. Our investigation aimed to determine if a change in color or labeling would have a significant effect on memory span and serial recall. However, our results do not support that coloring and labeling have significant impacts on a subject’s memory.

Detection and interpretation of clouds types using visible and infrared satellite images
...Show More Authors

One of the most Interesting natural phenomena is clouds that have a very strong effect on the climate, weather and the earth's energy balance. Also clouds consider the key regulator for the average temperature of the plant. In this research monitoring and studying the cloud cover to know the clouds types and whether they are rainy or not rainy using visible and infrared satellite images. In order to interpret and know the types of the clouds visually without using any techniques, by comparing between the brightness and the shape of clouds in the same area for both the visible and infrared satellite images, where the differences in the contrasts of visible image are the albedo differences, while in the infrared images is the temperature d

This study was performed at Nuclear Radiation Hospital in Baghdad for the period from
January 2011 to May 2011. 44 Blood samples were collected from patients suffered lung and
bladder cancer and 24 samples as healthy control individuals.
Routine liver functions tests were studied by measuring S.GPT, S.GOT and Kidney
function was evaluated by estimation of blood urea and creatinine in serum samples of
individuals studied.
It was observed that the incidence of lung and bladder cancer was higher in males than
females patients ( male 81.82 %, 72.73%, female18 .18%, 27.27% respectively).
Insignificant difference was noted among age of lung and bladder cancer patients
compared with control group. The results
