Interleukin-35 in Iraqi's Menopausal Women with Osteoporosis
...Show More Authors

Osteoporosis is related to the loss of bone mass that occurs as part of the natural process of aging and in menopausal women.           The aim of this study is to evaluate the levels of interleukin-35 in menopausal women with osteoporosis, that may be used as an early predicted marker of osteoblastic and osteoclastic activity in osteoporosis patients in relation with other diagnostic parameters.           Fasting blood samples were obtained from forty Iraqi menopausal women with mean age of (61.06±6.59)years who were newly diagnosed of osteoporosis by physicians at Baghdad Teaching Hospital as patients group(G1). In addition to , twenty two healthy women were included in the study as a control group(G2) with mean age(60.75±6.35). Serum samples were used for determination of Rheumatoid Factor (RF), Alkaline Phosphatase(ALP), Calcium(Ca+2), Phosphate(PO4-3) and Interleukin-35(IL-35),while blood sample was used for determination of Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR).             The results revealed a highly significant increase in IL-35 level in patients group(G1) compared to the control group(G2) while there are no significant differences in ALP, Ca+2 and PO4-3 levels between G1 and G2. The correlation between serum levels of IL-35 and  ALP ,Ca+2 and PO4-3 in menopausal osteoporosis patients was calculated; A significant positive correlation between IL-35 and ALP was found (r=0.277,P<0.05), while there was no significant correlation between IL-35 and each of Ca+2 and PO4-3 levels  (r=0.191,P>0.05),(r=0.124,P>0.05) respectively.           The conclusion obtained from this study that IL-35 may be used as an additional biomarker in predicting osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

Experimental Study of Pulsed Electrical Discharge in Cylindrically-Tipped of Plasma Switch
...Show More Authors

In this research pulse high voltage circuit was used including resistance,
inductance and capacitor to achieve an experiment of cylindrically-tipped of plasma
switch .The charging voltage of up to 9kV using Rogowski coil and current-shunt
resistance (CVR) used to measure pulsed electrical discharge (PED). The current in
both self-triggering and third-electrode triggering modes. The pulsed current peaks
4kA and the duration of circuit pulses were recorded between 0.1μs and 0.3μs. The
experimental results has shown clearly the inductance effect in the circuit parts in
under damped oscillation regarding the value of circuit parts in addition to the
distance of the spark gap cylindrically-tipped electrodes during th

Infectious bloody diarrhea in children 2 month – 5years, Descriptive hospital Based Study
...Show More Authors

Background: Dysentery is an important cause of morbidity and mortality associated with diarrhea. About 10% of all diarrheal episodes in children less than 5 years are dysenteric, but these cause about 15% of all deaths attributed to diarrhea.
Objective : To demonstrate the most common pathogens causing bloody diarrhea in children between 2 months and 5 years old, to describe some of the associated factors accompanying bloody diarrhea and to highlight the most important clinical features.
Patients and methods: A descriptive study of 82 children, between the age of 2 months to 5 years with bloody diarrhea, who were admitted to the Children Welfare Teaching Hospital/ Medical City/Baghdad during the period betw

Bulk binding approach for PMIPv6 protocol to reduce handoff latency in IoT
...Show More Authors

<p>Mobility management protocols are very essential in the new research area of Internet of Things (IoT) as the static attributes of nodes are no longer dominant in the current environment. Proxy MIPv6 (PMIPv6) protocol is a network-based mobility management protocol, where the mobility process is relied on the network entities, named, Mobile Access Gateways (MAGs) and Local Mobility Anchor (LMA). PMIPv6 is considered as the most suitable mobility protocol for WSN as it relieves the sensor nodes from participating in the mobility signaling. However, in PMIPv6, a separate signaling is required for each mobile node (MN) registration, which may increase the network signaling overhead and lead to increase the total handoff latency

Etiological factors of cholestasis ininfancy andearly childhood in Children Welfare Teaching Hospital
...Show More Authors

A

Background: Neonatal cholestasis is defined as prolonged elevation of the serum level of conjugated
bilirubin beyond the first 14 days of life. There are many causes of neonatal cholestasis which must be  identified because early intervention may result in a better outcome , such as surgical intervention in biliary atresia within two months from birth , or effective dietary management in metabolic disorders like  galactosemia.
Objective:To determine the causes of early childhood cholestasis in children attending the Children Welfare
Teaching Hospital in Baghdad and to stu

Background :Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a low-grade B-lineage lymphoid malignancy. Both  Ki-67 which is a large nuclear protein associated with cell proliferation and Bcl-2 which is an anti-apoptotic protein which is associated with dysregulation of the intrinsic apoptotic pathway , were thoroughly investigated in many cancer patients particularly in hemopoietic malignancies .

Patients, materials and methods: This retrospective study was conducted from November 2009 to May 2010 , on fifty formaline fixed paraffin embedded blocks of CLL cases retrieved from Medical City Teaching Hospital ; their age range was 39-75 years along with twenty control cases with benign r

The Effect of Dynamic Loading on Stresses Induced in Charnley Hip Prosthesis
...Show More Authors

This study produces an image of theoretical and experimental case of high loading stumbling condition for hip prosthesis. Model had been studied namely Charnley. This model was modeled with finite element method by using ANSYS software, the effect of changing the design parameters (head diameter, neck length, neck ratio, stem length) on Charnley design, for stumbling case as impact load where the load reach to (8.7* body weight) for impact duration of 0.005sec.An experimental rig had been constructed to test the hip model, this rig consist of a wood box with a smooth sliding shaft where a load of 1 pound is dropped from three heights.
The strain produced by this impact is measured by using rosette strain gauge connected to Wheatstone

Anomaly in the earth magnetic field at north provinces of Najaf city
...Show More Authors

This paper investigated in the numerical simulation model to calculate the Earth magnetic field components at north provinces of Najaf city (Longitude 44.316 o -44.3592o E and Latitude 32.0508o - 32.0256o N). The components of the Earth magnetic field (total intensity (F), horizontal intensity (H), declination (D), inclination (I), the north component(X), the east component(Y), and Down component(Z)) were found by using spherical harmonic world magnetic model (WMM2010). A great deal of anomaly has been discovered in all components of the Earth magnetic field at the selected region (Long. 44.345o-44.335o E, Lat.32.042o-32.032o N) using Kriging method.

Assessment of Slopes Stability For Conglomerate In Tikrit City -Salahaddine Governorate- Iraq
...Show More Authors

This research represents outcrops of rocks at Cliffs of Tigris river ( Terraces ), most are Conglomerate, Sandstone, Siltstone and Clay stone. The research covers several aspects ; it includes a collection of field information from unstable rock slopes at (6) stations representing all the rock failure types that happened or likely to happen . In each station rock slopes are completely surveyed ; also the rocks are described in an engineering way and a complete discontinuity survey is carried out according to Anon (1972,1977) and their relationship with the rock failure is established. The field study shows that rock failures include toppling (mostly insecondary type ), rock fall. Point load test shows t
