Около 150 лет назад на литературном небосклоне Европы вспыхнула яркая звезда. Стихи чужеземного поэта, о которых прежде на Западе никто не знал, кроме редких специалистов, преодолев толщу многих веков, заговорили на чужом языке, засверкали среди чуждой им культуры. Первый английский переводчик Омара Хайяма Эдвард Фитцджеральд в одночасье стал знаменитым. Слава Омара Хайяма поставила имя переводчика его рубаи в один ряд со светилами английской и мировой литературы. Издание переводов рубаи Омара Хайяма перевернуло европейскую и мировую культуру. Оно вызвало огромный интерес не только к творчеству Омара Хайяма, но и других поэтов и мыслителей из стран Востока. Переведенные Э. Фитцджеральдом рубаи Омара Хайяма оказали огромное влияние на развитие европейской поэзии, особенно английской, которая пыталась освободиться от строгих норм классики и викторианской эпохи. Основная причина огромной популярности рубаи заключается в их уникальности: рубаи захватывали даже тех читателей, которых ранее ничего не связывало с этим жанром поэзии. На длительное время слава и популярность Омара Хайяма затмила творчество даже самого Шекспира.
The present paper discusses one of the most important Russian linguistic features of Arabic origin Russian lexes denoting some religious worship or some political and social positions like Qadi, Wally, Sultan, Alam, Ruler, Caliph, Amir, Fakih, Mufti, Sharif, Ayatollah, Sheikh.. etc. A lexical analysis of the two of the most efficient and most used words of Arabic origin Russian lexes that are “Caliph and Sheikh” is considered in the present study. The lexicographic analysis of these words makes it possible to identify controversial issues related to their etymology and semantic development.
