Seismic and Velocity Study of Luhais Oil Field Using Velocity Model

In this study, a qualitative seismic velocity interpretation is made up through using 2D-seismic reflection data on Luhais oil field in southern of Iraq which is situated at about 105 Km to the east from the Basra city. Luhais oil field was chosen to study the type and nature of the distribution of the seismic velocities of Nahr Umr and Zubair Formations in order to show its explorational importance, where these formations contain abundant quantities of hydrocarbons. Picking of the tops of Nahr Umr and Zubair was carried out from the synthetic seismogram which is calculated from sonic-logs and check shot of well Lu-2. Velocity model was obtained via using an implementation of Petrel program version, 2013 and was corrected according to tops well that drilled in the study area. Average velocity slices (vertically and horizontally) and maps are carried out from the velocity model.

Radiological Effects Assessment in East Baghdad Oil Field, Southern Area

Radiological assessment for the East Baghdad oilfield-southern part was conducted in the current study. 10 samples (scale, soil, sludge, water, and oil) from the different stages of oil production were collected. 232Th, 226Ra, and 40K in the samples were analyzed with 40% efficiency for Gamma spectrometry. system based on HPGe. The findings indicated that the examined sites exhibit comparatively lower levels of NORM contamination, in contrast to other global oilfields. Nevertheless, certain areas, particularly those within separation stages, demonstrate relatively elevated NORM concentrations exceeding the global average in soil and sludge. The maximum value of 226Ra, 232Th, was found in sludge sample the findings indicated that ove

Optimizing Water Injection Performance by Using Sector Modeling of the Mishrif Formation in West Qurna-1 Oil Field, Southern Iraq

The regular job of a reservoir engineer is to put a development plan to increase hydrocarbon production as possible and within economic and technical considerations. The development strategy for the giant reservoir is a complex and challenging task through the decision-making analysis process. Due to the limited surface water treatment facility, the reservoir management team focuses on minimizing water cut as low as possible by check the flow of formation and injected water movement through the Mishrif reservoir. In this research, a representative sector was used to make the review of water injection configuration, which is considered an efficient tool to make study in a particular area of the entire field when compared with the ful

Radiological hazard Assessment Due to Natural Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) in Oil and Gas Production Industry –East Baghdad Oil Field

Concentration of NORM then radiological hazard indices were investigated and assessed in different stages of oil and gas production industry that belongs to East Baghdad Oil Field. Sixteen samples of different types of materials were collected representing oil and gas production from first stage to final stage. The samples are prepared then sent to Radiation Protection Center (RPC) / Ministry of Environment for radioactivity analysis using gamma ray spectrometry system based on HPGe. The results show that max value of Ra-226 is 252.4 Bq/kg in sediment sample collected from the final stage of water treatment before it is transferred to disposal well and min value is 1.2 Bq/kg in formation water. The max. activity of Th-232 is 79.4Bq/kg al

Optimization of Gas Lifting Design in Mishrif Formation of Halfaya Oil Field

The optimization of artificial gas lift techniques plays a crucial role in the advancement of oil field development. This study focuses on investigating the impact of gas lift design and optimization on production outcomes within the Mishrif formation of the Halfaya oil field. A comprehensive production network nodal analysis model was formulated using a PIPESIM Optimizer-based Genetic Algorithm and meticulously calibrated utilizing field-collected data from a network comprising seven wells. This well group encompasses three directional wells currently employing gas lift and four naturally producing vertical wells. To augment productivity and optimize network performance, a novel gas lift design strategy was proposed. The optimization of

The legal effect of Licensing contracts in the field of oil investment

Iraq is currently the third largest oil reserves in the world after Saudi Arabia and Iran, which is estimated at (115) billion barrels, in addition to the gas reserves of (119) trillion cubic meters so foreign oil companies have been competing for contracts to participate in production and technical service for years to sign the cost of operations The high productivity, which is based on the payment of the term, which leads to raising the cost of production per barrel, which comes mainly from the employment of foreign workers with high salaries and the provision of local services of high standard and purchase of commodity and consulting services worth hundreds of millions of dollars. And the presence of maneuvering and manipulation by fo

Calculation of Pressure Loss of Two Drilling Muds in Noor Oil Field

In this work, calculation of pressure losses in circulating system for two drilling muds is evaluated in Noor oil field. Two types of drilling muds that were used for drilling section 12 1/4" and 8 3/4" which are Salt saturated mud and Ferro Chrome Lignosulfonate-Chrome Lignite mud. These calculations are based on field data that were gathered from the drilling site of well Noor-15, which are included, rheological data, flow data and specification of drill string. Based on the obtained results, the best rheological model that fit their data is the Herschel-Bulkley model according to correlation coefficient value for their two drilling mud. Also, the difference between the calculated pressure lo

Study of the nuclear structure of halo nuclei 23O and 24F using the two-body model

The nuclear structure included the matter, proton and neutron densities of the ground state, the nuclear root-mean-square (rms) radii and elastic form factors of one neutron 23O and 24F halo nuclei have been studied by the two body model of  within the harmonic oscillator (HO) and Woods-Saxon (WS) radial wave functions. The calculated results show that the two body model within the HO and WS radial wave functions succeed in reproducing neutron halo in these exotic nuclei. Moreover, the Glauber model at high energy has been used to calculated the rms radii and reaction cross section of these nuclei.

Use of Attributes on 3D Seismic Data for Studying Mishrif Formation in East Abu-Amoud Field, South-Eastern Iraq

The seismic method depends on the nature of the reflected waves from the interfaces between layers, which in turn depends on the density and velocity of the layer, and this is called acoustic impedance. The seismic sections of the East Abu-Amoud field that is located in Missan Province, south-eastern Iraq, were studied and interpreted for updating the structural picture of the major Mishrif Formation for the reservoir in the field. The Mishrif Formation is rich in petroleum in this area, with an area covering about 820 km2. The horizon was calibrated and defined on the seismic section with well logs data (well tops, check shot, sonic logs, and density logs) in the interp

Geological Model of Khasib Reservoir- Central Area/East Baghdad Field

The Geological modeling has been constructed by using Petrel E&P software to incorporate data, for improved Three-dimensional models of porosity model, water saturation, permeability estimated from core data, well log interpretation, and fault analysis modeling.

Three-dimensional geological models attributed with physical properties constructed from primary geological data. The reservoir contains a huge hydrocarbon accumulation, a unique geological model characterization with faults, high heterogeneity, and a very complex field in nature.

The results of this study show that the Three-dimensional geological model of Khasib reservoir, to build the reservoir model starting with evaluation of reservoir to interpretation o

Microfacies analysis and sequence stratigraphy of Oligocene formations within Bai Hassan oil field, Northern Iraq

Bai Hassan Oil field is considered one of the important north Iraq oil fields. The giant oil field of Bai-Hassan is located near Kirkuk City in North Iraq. The field consists of two domes (in SE – NW direction) Kithka Dome and Dauod Dome separated by a narrow saddle called Shashal saddle.

The current study is focused on microfacies analysis to interpret the stratigraphic sequence of the Palani Formation (early – lower Oligocene age), Baba, Bajawan and Tarjil Formations (middle Oligocene age).

The Bajawan Formation consists basically of five microfacies easily recognizable throughout the thin section. These microfacies are Lime Mudstone Microfacies, Miliolid Packestone Microfacies, Miliolid Grainstone Microfacie
