Image Segmentation Using Superpixel Based Split and Merge Method

A super pixel can be defined as a group of pixels, which have similar characteristics, which can be very helpful for image segmentation. It is generally color based segmentation as well as other features like texture, statistics…etc .There are many algorithms available to segment super pixels like Simple Linear Iterative Clustering (SLIC) super pixels and Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Application with Noise (DBSCAN). SLIC algorithm essentially relay on choosing N random or regular seeds points covering the used image for segmentation. In this paper Split and Merge algorithm was used instead to overcome determination the seed point's location and numbers as well as other used parameters. The overall results were better from the SLIC method depending on single threshold, which control the segments number needed (like 0.2) to accomplish the task.

Abstract<p><bold>Objective</bold>—To determine the effect of head conformation (brachycephalic, mesaticephalic, and dolichocephalic) on olfactory bulb angle and orientation in dogs by use of in vivo MRI.</p><p><bold>Animals</bold>—40 client-owned dogs undergoing MRI for diagnosis of conditions that did not affect skull conformation or olfactory bulb anatomy.</p><p><bold>Procedures</bold>—For each dog, 2 head conformation indices were calculated. Comparison between analytical solution and experimental results for reinforced loose sand

Presents here in the results of comparison between the theoretical equation stated by Huang and Menq and laboratory model tests used to study the bearing capacity of square footing on geogrid-reinforced loose sand by performing model tests. The effects of several parameters were studied in order to study the general behavior of improving the soil by using the geogrid. These parameters include depth of first layer of reinforcement, vertical spacing of reinforcement layers, number of reinforcement layers and types of reinforcement layers The results show that the theoretical equation can be used to estimate the bearing capacity of loose sand.

In this research, a novel thin film Si-GO10 and nanopowders Si-GO30 of silica-graphene oxide (GO) composite were prepared via the sol–gel method and deposited on glass substrates using spray pyrolysis. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results showed a relatively strong peak in the graphite layer that corresponds to the (002) plane. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) images showed that SiO2 nanoparticles were randomly distributed on the surface of GO plates, and the particle size in these nanopowders was below 50 nm. The effects of Mo content on the microstructure, chemical bonding state, and optical properties of the prepared films were investigated by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy, and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry.
