3D seismic reflection study for subsurface structural picture of Dujaila Oil Field, South of Iraq
...Show More Authors

This research represents a 3D seismic structural study for 602.62 Km2 of Dujaila
Oil Field which is located 55 Km Northwest of Mysan province and 20 Km Southwest
of Ali-AlSharki region within unstable Mesopotamian basin.
Synthetic traces are prepared by using available data of two wells (Du-1, Du-2), in
order to define and pick the reflectors. Two reflectors are picked that represent the top
and bottom of Mishrif Formation, in addition to five units within this Formation are
picked, they named Units 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Time maps for the top and bottom of Mishrif reflectors are drawn to get the
structural picture, these maps show general dip of layers toward NE, and thus, there
are two enclosure domes in the middle of Dujaila Oil Field where two wells (Du-1,
Du-2) are found.

Microfacies Evaluation of Mauddud Formation in Ratawi Field, South Iraq
...Show More Authors

This paper includes studying the microfacies evalution of Mauddud Formaion in
four wells(Rt-2, Rt-5, Rt17 and Rt-19). Seventy-seven(77) sampels were collected
of above mentioned wells. Based on fossil content of the samples under study, four
main microfacies were identified: packstone , wakestone , grainstone and lime
mudstone microfacies ,which deposited in shallow open marine and restricted
marine environments. Petrographic examination of thin section indicated that
diagenesis vary in intensity from one site to another, such as dissolution,
cementation, compaction, dolomitization and micritization, which led to the
improvement and deterioration of porosity. The dominant pore types are vuggy,
interparticle and

The Improved Sand characterization of Mafe Field of Niger Delta by integrated well logs information and 3D seismic data
...Show More Authors

Well log rock physics and seismic facies analysis was carried out with a view to enhancing reservoir sand characterization of Mafe Field of Niger Delta. Lithofacies were identified using suites of well logs and correlated across the block. Rock properties were estimated from wireline logs using empirical methods. Vp-porosity crossplot was used to characterize the delineated sandstone reservoirs by comparing observed clusters and trends with various rock physics models. Seismic attribute analysis was employed to detect lateral changes in lithology across the field. Reservoir A is a relatively clean sand, with low average volume of shale of 0.4, average thickness of 55m, good average porosity of 0.

Structural Reservoir Characterization of Akkas Gas Field, Western Iraq: Implications for Hydrocarbon Recovery
...Show More Authors

Akkas Field is a structural trap with a sandstone reservoir that contains proven gas condensate. The field is a faulted anticline that consists of the Ordovician Khabour Formation. The objective of this research is to use structural reservoir characterization for hydrocarbon recovery. The stratigraphic sequence of the Silurian and older strata was subjected to an uplift that developed a gentle NW-SE trending anticline. The uplifting and folding events developed micro-fractures represented by tension cracks.  These microfractures, whether they are outer arc or release fractures, are parallel to the hinge line of the anticline and perpendicular to the bedding planes. The brittle sandstone laye

Bekhme formation, Dernir Dagh well -1 has been divided into two facies units using core
sample slides and depending on sedimentary structures and diagenetic processes .The facies
reflect the environment of the foreslope. This work proves the absence of Bekhme formation
in Dernir Dagh
Well- 1 as a tongue as reported by the Oil Exploration Company. Some species and genera of
bentonic foraminifera were identified. The age of Bekhme formation was estimated
depending on the recognized index fossils to be lower Maastrichtian.

RESERVOIR MODELING OF MISHRIF FORMATION IN MAJNOON OIL FIELD, SOUTHERN IRAQ
...Show More Authors

The Middle Cenomanian-Early Turonian Mishrif Formation includes important carbonate reservoirs in Iraq and some other surrounding countries due to their high reservoir quality and wide geological extension. The 2D models of this study for facies, effective porosity and water saturation indicate the vertical and lateral heterogeneity of the Mishrif Formation reservoir properties in the Majnoon oil field. Construction of 2D reservoir model of the Mishrif Formation to explain the distribution of facies and petrophysical properties (effective porosity and water saturation) by using RockWorks software. The increase of effective porosity is attributed to the presence of shoal facies. The high water saturation is attributed to the existence of rest

Reservoir units of Mishrif Formation in Majnoon Oil field, Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

The reservoir units of Mishrif Formation in Majnoon oil field were studied by using available wireline logs (gamma ray, porosity and resistivity) and facies that derived from core and cutting samples for three wells including Mj-1, Mj-15, and Mj-20. The reservoir properties were determined and interpreted by using IP software. The results showed that unit D have the best reservoir properties due to high effective porosity, low water saturation and very low volume of shale. Furthermore, a large part of this unit was deposited in shoal environment. The other reservoir units are then graded in reservoir properties including units B, A, F & E respectively, except unit C, which is considered as a cap unit, because it consists of restricte
