Effect of chelating agents on removal of 137Cs from contaminated soil

In the present research, the chemical washing method has been selected using three chelating agents: citric acid, acetic acid and Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid (EDTA) to remove 137Cs from two different contaminated soil samples were classified as fine and coarse grained. The factors that affecting removal efficiency such as type of soil, mixing ratio and molarity have been investigated. The results revealed that no correlation relation was found between removal efficiency and the studied factors. The results also showed that conventional chemical washing method was not effective in removing 137Cs and that there are further studies still need to achieve this objective.

The Judge’s Oversight Function on Unreasonableness in Disciplinary Actions : A Comparative Study

The Administrative agency enjoys certain privileges when issuing disciplinary actions on a public servant. As the only entity conferred with the authority to issue disciplinary action to actualize certain aims, like establishment of, or amendment or repealing of certain legal provisions. Public service is regarded as the most widespread sector due to the employer-employee working relationship between the administrative agency and the public servant. The aim of disciplinary action is to serve deterrent to the employee from committing similar offence in the future and guaranteeing of smooth running of the organization and effective delivery of work. Therefore, the administrative agency must commit to achieving this aim, without being outra

Quantifying Suicidal Ideation on Social Media using Machine Learning: A Critical Review

Suicidal ideation is one of the severe mental health issues and a serious social problem faced by our society. This problem has been usually dealt with through the psychological point of view, using clinical face to face settings. There are various risk factors associated with suicides, including social isolation, anxiety, depression, etc., that decrease the threshold for suicide. The COVID-19 pandemic further increases social isolation, posing a great threat to the human population. Posting suicidal thoughts on social media is gaining much attention due to the social stigma associated with the mental health. Online Social Networks (OSN) are increasingly used to express the suicidal thoughts. Recently, a top Indian actor industry took th

Stresses and pore water pressure induced by machine foundation on saturated sand

In this study, the response and behavior of machine foundations resting on dry and saturated sand was investigated experimentally. In order to investigate the response of soil and footing to steady state dynamic loading, a physical model was manufactured. The manufactured physical model could be used to simulate steady state harmonic load at different operating frequencies. Total of (84) physical models were performed. The parameters that were taken into considerations include loading frequency, size of footing and different soil conditions. The footing parameters were related to the size of the rectangular footing and depth of embedment. Two sizes of rectangular steel model footing were used (100 200 12.5 mm) and (200 400 5.0 mm).

Real-Time SLAM Mobile Robot and Navigation Based on Cloud-Based Implementation

This study investigates the feasibility of a mobile robot navigating and discovering its location in unknown environments, followed by the creation of maps of these navigated environments for future use. First, a real mobile robot named TurtleBot3 Burger was used to achieve the simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technique for a complex environment with 12 obstacles of different sizes based on the Rviz library, which is built on the robot operating system (ROS) booted in Linux. It is possible to control the robot and perform this process remotely by using an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instance service. Then, the map to the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) cloud was uploaded. This provides a database

Biometric Identification System Based on Contactless Palm-Vein Using Residual Attention Network

Palm vein recognition technology is a one of the most effective biometric technologies for personal identification. Palm acquisition techniques are either contact-based or contactless-based. The contactless-based palm vein system is considered more accurate and efficient when used in modern applications, but it may suffer from problems like pose variations and the delay in the matching process. This paper proposes a contactless-based identification system for palm vein that involves two main steps; First, the central region of the palm is cropped using fast extract region of interest algorithm, then the features are extracted and classified using altered structure of Residual Attention Network, which is a developed version of convolution

Consumer Subjective Values and their Reflection on Fashion Design: وسن خليل إبراهيم

This paper deals with the subjective reflections of consumer values on fashion design. The   consumer self is determined by the consumer's idea of himself, according to the intellectual, spiritual and social values, and these values take their intellectual reflection in the form of material values that the consumer finds in fashion design. These values are based on considerations between what is intellectual represented by the values of the consumer, and what is material determined by the fashion design, which also proceed from values that are visible or implied in costume design, such as the function, beauty and symbol. The   consumer self gets its material image represented in the

ON-Line MRI Image Selection and Tumor Classification using Artificial Neural Network

When soft tissue planning is important, usually, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique of selection. In this work, we show a modern method for automated diagnosis depending on a magnetic resonance images classification of the MRI. The presented technique has two main stages; features extraction and classification. We obtained the features corresponding to MRI images implementing Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT), inverse and forward, and textural properties, like rotation invariant texture features based on Gabor filtering, and evaluate the meaning of every

Fuzzy Convergence Sequence and Fuzzy Compact Operators on Standard Fuzzy Normed Spaces

The main purpose of this work is to introduce some types of fuzzy convergence sequences of operators defined on a standard fuzzy normed space (SFN-spaces) and investigate some properties and relationships between these concepts. Firstly, the definition of weak fuzzy convergence sequence in terms of fuzzy bounded linear functional is given. Then the notions of weakly and strongly fuzzy convergence sequences of operators  are introduced and essential theorems related to these concepts are proved. In particular, if ( ) is a strongly fuzzy convergent sequence with a limit  where linear operator from complete standard fuzzy normed space  into a standard fuzzy normed space  then  belongs to the set of all fuzzy bounded linear operators
