Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) Trace Gas Sensing using Modulated CO2 Laser Beam

Photonic Crystal Fiber Interferometers (PCFIs) are widely used for sensing applications. This work presents the fabrication and the characterization of a relative humidity sensor based on a polymer-coated photonic crystal fiber that operates in a Mach- Zehnder Interferometer (MZI) transmission mode. The fabrication of the sensor involved splicing a short (1 cm) length of Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) between two single-mode fibers (SMF). It was then coated with a layer of agarose solution. Experimental results showed that a high humidity sensitivity of 29.37 pm/%RH was achieved within a measurement range of 27–95%RH. The sensor also showed good repeatability, small size, measurement accuracy and wide humidity range. The RH sensitivity of the sensor has a significant dependence on the thickness of the coating and the sensor with the highest sensitivity showed a linear response for RH change in the range of 27-95% RH and a fast response time of 0.8 sec for an RH change from 50% to 90%.

Estimation Hazard of Lung Cancer Due to Radiate Radon Gas in Diyala Governorate Schools

In this research, the concentration of radon gas has been calculated in the classrooms of schools in Diyala Governorate by using the nuclear track detector (CR-39), which was one of the organic solid-state nuclear detectors (SSNTDs). After calculating the radon gas concentration, the lung cancer cases were calculated. The results showed that the lowest value was found in (Alshumue) school (4.753) people. In contrast, the highest value was found in (Habhib) school (20.421). The average values of lung cancer cases in Diyala governorate were equal to (9.319) per person. The ferrite samples were checked by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopes (FE-SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray analyzer (EDX). Enhancement the Sensitivity of Zinc Sulfide Nanostructure Against NO2 Toxic Gas by Loading Graphene

Nanocrystal-ZnS-loaded graphene was synthesized by a facile co-precipitation route. The Graphene was affected on the characterization of ZnS which has been investigated. XRD results reveal that ZnS has a cubic system while the hexagonal structure has been observed by loading graphene during preparation ZnS. D.c-conductivity proves that ZnS and ZnS/Gr have semiconductor behavior. The sensing properties of ZnS/Gr against NO2 gas were investigated as a function of operating temperature and time under optimal condition. The sensitivity, response time and recovery time were calculated with different operating temperatures (100, 150, 200)oC.
