Genetic study of Salmonella spp. Producting Betalatimase (ESBLs)

Ten isolates were collected from different clinical sources from laboratory in medicine century . These isolates were belonging to the genus Salmonella depending on morphological and biochemical tests . The antibiotic scussptibility tests against 10 antibiotics were examined , and it was found that the 60% isolates have multiple resistant to antibiotic ,(70%) of isolates were resistant to ampicillin,(50%) were resistant to augmentin ,(40%) were resistant to ceftriaxone ,(20%) were resistant to cefotaxime and (10%) were resistant to ciprofloxacin and tetracycline while all isolates showed sensitivity to piperacillin, imipenem, amikacin and erythromycin .The ability of Salmonela isolates to produce ?-lactamase enzymes were tested using iodometric method , and the results showed that all isolates produced this enzyme.The ability of these isolates to produce Extended-Spectrum ?-lactamase (ESBLs)were also determined by double disc synergy test , only five isolates produced these enzyme. Agarose gel electrophoresis showed that Salmonella isolates ?-lactamase producer have two small plasmid bands . Transformation experiments revealed that these plasmids were capable to transform E. coli MM294, an observation which indicates the ability of these plasmids to show their expression in more than one host.

Induction of antioxidant enzymes in wheat (Triticum spp.) grown under salt stress

A pot culture experiment was conducted at the greenhouse of soil and water resources department in College of Agriculture, University of Baghdad in Abo-Ghraib at season 2009-2010 to investigate the effects of using foliar application of some macro and micronutrients in induce antioxidant enzymes in wheat grown under salt stress . Doar85 planted under three levels of salt stress, and three combinations of foliar application were used from nutrients (K+ Ca) at 3000 and 1500 mg.L-1 respectively, and (Fe + Zn + Mn) at 30, 20, and 10 mg.L-1 respectively , and ( K+ Ca) + (Fe+ Zn + Mn). Detection of Salmonella In Some Red and White Frozen Meat Obtained From Local Market.

Background: Salmonella spp. are one of the most frequently reported causes of bacterial foodborne outbreak in the world.
Objective: This study has been conducted to detect salmonella as a major public health problem worldwide.
Methods: A total of 12 samples including 8 white meat (chicken) and 4 red meat (beef) samples were collected randomly from each sample; 25gr was separated and treated with 225ml of buffered peptone water, incubated at 37C°and 42C° for 24 hours. Samples were streaked on selective enteric agar.
Result: Totally 4 out of 8 chicken meat and one out of 4 red meat samples were contaminated with Salmonella spp.

The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum fungicidal concentration(MFC) of extracted oil of lemon grass and thyme against Candida spp. and Bacteria Spp. Isolated from children with oral thrush

120 samples were collected from children (ages between new born and 10 years) who infected with oral thrush. The results revealed that the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Fungicidal Concentration (MFC) of extracted oil of lemon grass against C.albicans, C.tropicalis, C.keyfr, C.glabrata and C.guilliermondii were 1.25,1.25,1.25,2.5 and 2.5µl/ml and 2.5, 2.5, 2.5, 5 and 5 µl /ml respectively. while the (MIC) and (MFC) for the extraction oil of thyme against C.albicans, C.tropicalis, C.keyfr, C.glabrata and C.guilliermondii were 0.6, 0.6, 1.25, 1.25, and 1.25µl/ml and 1.25, 1.25, 2.5, 2.5, and 2.5µl/ml respectively . Genetic Algorithm based Clustering for Intrusion Detection

The Optimum Conditions for Pleurotin Production by Pleurotus spp. Local Isolates

The study includ selection of six species of the fungi related to genus Pleurotus were evaluated for their ability to produce of Pleurotin, one of them, Pleurotus ostreatus (P.11) was isolated and identified in the present study. Pleurotin was detected by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The maximum absorption of Pleurotin was 1.6 nm at 250 nm. Pleurotin was purified with two methods using chloroform and ethyl acetate, the results showed the ethyl acetate was more efficient in pleurotin production resulting in 14.6 μg/ml compared to 9.8 μg/ml with chloroform.
