Cysteine-cupped CdSe/CdS quantum dots as an opticalbiosensor for early skin cancer detection
...Show More Authors

This study represents an optical biosensor for early skin cancer detection using cysteine-cupped CdSe/CdS Quantum Dots (QDs). The study optimizes QD synthesis, surface, optical functionalization, and bioconjugation to enhance specificity and sensitivity for early skin cancer cell detection. The research provides insights into QD interactions with skin cancer biomarkers, demonstrating high-contrast, precise cellular imaging. Cysteine-capped CdSe/CdS absorption spectra reveal characteristic peaks for undamaged DNA, while spectral shifts indicate structural changes in skin-cancer-damaged DNA. Additionally, fluorescence spectra show sharp peaks for undamaged DNA and notable shifts and intensity variations when interacting with skin cancer. This change in the optical properties of the deformed DNA is considered a tool for early detection of skin cancer. ELISA test results showed that the best incubation period for recording absorbance intensity with a spectrophotometer is 24 h.

Impact of Aggregate Gradation and Filler Type on Marshall Properties of Asphalt Concrete
...Show More Authors

As asphalt concrete wearing course (ACWC) is the top layer in the pavement structure, the material should be able to sustain stresses caused by direct traffic loading. The objective of this study is to evaluate the influence of aggregate gradation and mineral filler type on Marshall Properties.  A detailed laboratory study is carried out by preparing asphalt mixtures specimens using locally available materials including asphalt binder (40-50) penetration grade, two types of aggregate gradation representing SCRB and ROAD NOTE 31 specifications and two types of  mineral filler including limestone dust and coal fly ash. Four types of mixtures were prepared and tested. The first type included SCRB specification and

Structural and Infrared Spectroscopy of Polyvinylpyrrolidone/Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes Nanocomposite
...Show More Authors

In this work, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)/ Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanocomposites were prepared with two concentrations of MWCNTs by casting method. Morphological, structural characteristics and electrical properties were investigated. The state of MWCNTs dispersion in a PVP matrix was indicated by Field Effect-Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) which showed a uniform dispersion of MWCNTs within the PVP matrix. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) indicate strong bonding of carbonyl groups of PVP composite chains with MWCNTs. Fourier transfer infrared (FTIR) studies shows characteristics of various stretching and bending vibration bands, as well as shifts in some band locations and intensity changes in others. Hall effect was studied

Role of Glycine-to-Nitrate Ratio in Physical and Magnetic Properties of Zn-Ferrite Powder
...Show More Authors

We report  the influence of different glycine-to-nitrate ratios on the physical and magnetic properties for synthesized zinc-ferrite by  microwave-assisted combustion route. Phase impurity and surface morphology investigated with XRD analysis and field emission- scanning electron microscopy, indicated that  spinel structure  were  formed.Average particles size increased  with the decrease of glycine to nitrate ratio. Magnetic measurement  results indicated that  high values of saturation magnetization  were produced with low  glycine/nitrate ratio. Optical properties of  the investigated ferrites exhibited photo absorption from UV to visible region with

Petrophysical Properties and Reservoir Assessment of Mishrif Formation in Eridu oil field, Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

This study is achieved in the local area of the Eridu oil field, where the Mishrif Formation is considered the main productive reservoir. The Mishrif Formation was deposited during the Cretaceous period in the secondary sedimentary cycle (Cenomanian-Early Turonian as a part of the Wasia Group, a carbonate succession widespread throughout the Arabian Plate.

The Mishrif Formation already have been evaluated in terms of depositional environments and their diagenetic processes. Here, it will test the previous conclusions with petrophysical properties delineated by using well logging. The results show there is a fully matching with two reservoir units (MA and MB). Dissolution and primary porosity are responsible for f

The Effect of Silica Sio2 on the Dielectric and Physical Properties of Mn –Ni Ferrite
...Show More Authors

The effect of SiO 2 ) Silica) on the dielectric and physical properties of Mnx-Ni1 -xFe2O4 ،، X=0.5 is studies. The samples are prepared by the conventional manufacturing
method. We found that the physical and dielectric properties of Mn-Ni ferrite change
considerably with the substituent samples .the variation of dielectric constant as a function of
frequency of ferrite system decrease with frequency increases and increase with the increase
the concentration of SiO 2 . It was found that the increase of SiO 2 concentration of all our
samples produce an increase in mass density and decrease with porosities

Dispersion in a Gas Filled Hollow Core Photonic Crystal Fiber
...Show More Authors

Hollow core photonic bandgap fibers provide a new geometry for the realization and enhancement of many nonlinear optical effects. Such fibers offer novel guidance and dispersion properties that provide an advantage over conventional fibers for various applications. Dispersion, which expresses the variation with wavelength of the guided-mode group velocity, is one of the most important properties of optical fibers. Photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) offer much larger flexibility than conventional fibers with respect to tailoring of the dispersion curve. This is partly due to the large refractive-index contrast available in the silica/air microstructures, and partly due to the possibility of making complex refractive-index structure over the fibe

Investigation of the New Room Temperature Ionic Liquid of Al(NO3)3.9H2O with Urea CO(NH2)2
...Show More Authors

Mixing aluminum nitrate nonahydrate with urea produced room temperatures clear colorless ionic liquid with lowest freezing temperature at (1: 1.2) mole ratio respectively. Freezing point phase diagram was determined and density, viscosity and conductivity were measured at room temperature. It showed physical properties similar to other ionic liquids. FT-IR,UV-Vis, 1H NMR and 13C NMR were used to study the interaction between its species where - CO ??? Al- bond was suggested and basic ion [Al(NO3)4]? and acidic ions [Al(NO3)2. xU]+ were proposed. Water molecule believed to interact with both ions. Redox potential was determined to be about 2 Volt from – 0.6 to + 1.4 Volt with thermal stability up to 326 ?.

Synthesis, stability, and thermophysical properties of aqueous colloidal dispersions of multi-walled carbon nanotubes treated with beta-alanine
...Show More Authors

In the present study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with outside diameters of< 8 nm and 20−30 nm were covalently functionalized with β-Alanine using a novel synthesis procedure. The functionalization process was proved successful using Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, and TEM. Utilizing the two-step method with ultrasonication, the MWCNTs treated with β-Alanine (Ala-MWCNTs) with weight concentrations of 0.025%, 0.05%, 0.075%, and 0.1% were dispersed in distilled water to prepare water-based nanofluids. The aqueous colloidal dispersions of pristine MWCNTs were unstable. While for Ala-MWCNTs and after> 50 days from preparation, higher colloidal stability was obtained up to relative concentration of 0.955 and 0.939 for the 0.075-wt% samp
