The mean age of AS patients was (35.0 ± 9.8) years. When the patients and control subjects were divided into different age groups (>40, 30-40, <30 years), the differences were not significantin terms of disease prevalence. The results also showed that the percentage of male patients is higher than that of females. There was no significant difference (P?0.05) between patients and controls in the distribution of males and females. Most of the patients had the disease for a period of 5 years or higher, with a disease severity of ? 2.1 and functional disability degree of I, II. The resultsshoweddifferent patterns of distribution for the three tested cytokines. A significant increase in the level of TNF-?, anon-significantincrease in the level of CXCL-8, and a significant decrease in the level of IL-10 were observed in the sera of patients with AS compared with the control. The patients also demonstrated significant decreases in the serum ALT and AST enzyme levels, hemoglobin (Hb) level, white blood cells (WBC) count, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) (P?0.05).The percentage of HLA-B27-positive Iraqi patients was lower than that of the HLA-B27-negative patients. Some of these patterns were also exposed to changes related to some determinants in patients, which included age, sex, disease duration, disease severity, functional disability, and HLA-B27 positivity, along with association with clinical subtypes of AS.The area under the curve was determined for the parameters of ESR, IL-10, TNF-? and CXCL-8.The most significant factor was found to beESR, followed by IL-10, and then TNF-?, with the presence of significant differences, while there was no diagnostic significance for CXCL-8 ,which showed no significant difference (p?0.05).
Many pathophysiological processes can affect the pharmacokinetic properties of drugs in people with diabetes. The present study was deigned to evaluate the influence of diabetes mellitus (DM) on the pharmacokinetic parameters of metronidazole administered as single oral dose. Twelve healthy volunteers and twelve diabetic patients were enrolled in the present study. On day 1, a single oral dose of metronidazole 500 mg was administered orally to all participants at 9:00 am after a 10-hour fasting. Over the following 48 hours, blood samples were taken at frequent intervals and serum metronidazole concentrations were measured by a high-performance liquid chromatography method for assessment of pharmacokinetics of metronid

autoimmune disease, thirty patients with Multiple Sclerosis of ages (22-55) years
have been investigated and compared with 25 healthy individuals. All the studied
groups were carried out to measure anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies IgA IgG
by ELISA test, anti-reticulin antibodies IgA and IgG, and anti-endomysial
antibodies IgA and IgG by IFAT. There was a significant elevation in the
concentration of anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies IgA and IgG compared to
control groups (P≤0.05), there was 4(13.33%) positive results for anti-reticulin
antibodies IgA and IgG , 3(10%) positive results for anti-endomysial antibodies

Soluble platelet selectin, one of the cell adhesion molecules, is elevated in many inflammatory conditions including preeclampsia.
Objective: To investigate if soluble platelet-selectin levels can be used as a marker for adverse outcomes in pregnancy complicated with sever preeclampsia
Patients and methods:This study involved 115 pregnant women in their third trimester of pregnancy; divided into Group A: involves 25 pregnant women with preeclampsia complicated by intrauterine growth restriction.Group B: involves 35 pregnant women with preeclampsia without intraute
Study aimed to determination of chitotriosidase-1 levels in Iraqi diabetic and diabetic patients with thyroid disorder. Also, study aimed to found relation correlation for chitotriosidase-1 with FSG, T3, T4 and TSH. Ninety subjects were including in this study. First group consisted of (30) healthy individuals who have no history of any thyroid disorders or diabetes mellitus as control group. Second group (G2) (n=30) patients with diabetic and hyperthyroidism as association disease, and third group (G3) (n=30) include patients with diabetic and hypothyroidism as association disease. Serum used in (FSG, T3, T4, TSH, and Chitotriosidase-1) determination. Results showed a significant elevation in patients’ groups (G2, G3) comparing t

Objectives:- to investigate the relationship between alph-1 antitrypsin, leptein, adiponectein in serum of an obese population to find new markers for treating obesity and related disease.
Patients and methods:-This study had included thirty patients with obese (12 male and 18 female) with age ranged between 30-45 years and thirty apparently subjects matched for age and weight have been studied, attending the out patients consulta

Oxidative stress imbalance is the equilibrium between pro-oxidant\antioxidant statuses in cellular system, which results in damaging the cells. Antioxidant is a chemical that delays the start or slows the rate of lipid oxidation reaction and it play a very important role in the body defense system against reactive oxygen species. The aims of this study were to recorded the oro-facial manifestations in beta thalassemic patients and assess the oxidative stress marker malondialdehyde in serum and salivs and their role in the pathogenesis of beta thalassemia and ev

The study involved the detection of serum anti-H. pylori IgG and IgA antibody of and some serum biomarkers ;CEA and CA19-9 in patients with gastrointestinal diseases. Fifty eight serum samples were collected from 25 males and 33 females .Peripheral venous blood was collected from each patient and sera obtained by centrifugation. Serum anti-H. pylori IgG and IgA ,serum CEA and CA19-9 were evaluated by enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assays (ELISA).Forty eight serum samples were positive for IgG (82.7% ) divided int

Show MoreBackground: According to several animal and human studies, Vitamin D appears to play a substantial role in the development of diabetic nephropathy, However, the possibility of vitamin D's Reno protective impact and influence on the reversal of already-existing renal damage remains speculative. Vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency are ubiquitous worldwide and have been linked to a variety of pathophysiological conditions, including diabetes, allergies, autoimmune illnesses, pregnancy difficulties, and, more recently, worse COVID-19 clinical outcomes. From a translational perspective, the goal of this review is to look into the potential function of vitamin D in the development of diabetic kidney diseases
