Summary

I pursued higher education at the College of Sciences, Mustansiriyah University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1995. This foundational education ignited my passion for organic chemistry, prompting me to further specialize in the field. In 1998, I completed a Master of Science in Organic Chemistry, equipping me with advanced knowledge and research skills that would prove invaluable in my later career. Further fueled by a desire to delve deeper into the complexities of chemical processes, I pursued a Doctorate in Biochemistry, which I attained in 2005, again from Mustansiriyah University. Since 2002, I have been a dedicated academic at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad. Over the years, I have contributed significantly to the field of biochemistry through both teaching and research, influencing a generation of students and advancing scientific understanding within the discipline. I continue to engage in scholarly activities, striving to innovate and inspire in the ever-evolving landscape of the sciences.

Qualifications

PhD in biochemistry, Master in organic chemistry.

Responsibility

 Department coordinator (2011-2014), College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad.  Head, Laboratory Quality Unit (2023), College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad.  College Representative (2024) at the University of Baghdad on Toxic and Hazardous Substances.

Research Interests

In the rapidly evolving field of clinical biochemistry, my research interests gravitate towards the intricate mechanisms underlying lipid metabolism disorders, particularly in relation to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and metabolic syndrome. These interrelated conditions represent significant public health concerns globally, characterized by complex biochemical and physiological disturbances that pose challenges for effective diagnosis, treatment, and management. Lipid metabolism disorders play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of T2DM, as altered lipid profiles are often evident in affected individuals. My primary focus lies in elucidating the biochemical pathways involved in dyslipidemia and their contributions to insulin resistance. Understanding these pathways is crucial for identifying potential biomarkers that may aid in the early detection of T2DM, as well as for developing targeted therapeutic strategies aimed at ameliorating lipid abnormalities. Furthermore, my research will extend to exploring the link between metabolic syndrome and lipid disruptions. Metabolic syndrome encapsulates a range of metabolic risk factors, including visceral obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and impaired glucose tolerance. Investigating how lipid metabolism intersects with these risk factors

The Distribution of ABO blood groups among type 2 Diabetes mellitus patients with or without Chronic Microvascular Complications
...Show More Authors

The ABO blood group system is highly polymorphic, with more than 20 distinct sub-groups; study findings are usually related to ABO phenotype, but rarely to the ABO genotype and animal models are unsatisfactory because their antigen glycosylation structure is different from humans. Both the ABO and Rh blood group systems have been associated with a number of diseases, but this is more likely related to the presence or absence of these tissue antigens throughout the body and not directly or primarily related to their presence on RBCs. A total of fifty-two 52 patients without complication of DMII, two hundred sixteen 216 patients with complication of DMII and seventy-one 71 person as healthy control were included in the study. Cutoff Point Measurement of the waist circumference for the diagnosis of Metabolic Syndrome in Iraqi university students
...Show More Authors

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a collection of connected cardiovascular risk factors that characterizes the complicated illness. The waist circumference cutoff point fluctuation has so far defined Mets. Objective: This study aimed to determine the cutoff point for WC in healthy Iraqi adults. Methods: This cross-sectional survey establishes the standard value for WC among 300 healthy university students in Wasit city, Iraq. They are aged between 18-25 years. The receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve was used WC to predict the presence of two or more risk factors for MetS, as defined by IDF. Results: The cutoff level yielding maximum sensitivity and specificity for predicting the presence of multiple risk factors was

Insulin Resistance in Association with Metabolic Syndrome in Wasit University Students in Iraq
...Show More Authors

In Iraq 1.4 million of people have diabetes, the prevalence of T2DM was ranged (8.5%—13.9%), and the cluster of metabolic abnormalities has long been identified as the risk factors for type 2 diabetes and is now commonly described as metabolic syndrome/MetS. Insulin resistance takes a key role in the process of the MetS and has even been hypothesized as its underlying cause. Clinical and epidemiologic studies also indicate that obesity and life style habit might be correlated with IR. This study examined the relationship between IR and MetS in a sample of young, healthy university students in Iraq. It discovered that the severity of IR is positively correlated with the clustering of MetS risk factors in Iraqi students, suggesting
