Teaching in the Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Baghdad, within the specialty of environmental science. My research is in environmental pollutants and water bodies, and I am interested in climate change.
I have skills in focusing on toxicological studies of pollutants and their transport through the food chain
I work on several committees in the department, including the head of the biosafety committee, the sobriety committees, the competition committees for postgraduate studies, the research plans committees for postgraduate students, and many other committees.
He received the Science Day Award and many books of thanks and appreciation from the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, university presidents, and deans of colleges.
I have more than seventy research papers published in local and international journals
I study several scientific subjects for primary studies, safety and biosecurity, biodiversity, pollution, fundimental of ecology, and a research project. and for postgraduate studies, periodicals, aquatic ecology and chemical ecology
I study several scientific subjects for primary studies, safety and biosecurity, biodiversity, pollution, fundimental of ecology, and a research project.
I supervised 10 doctoral students and 18 master’s students in various specializations within the environmental sciences field
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of Tharthar Arm on the composition and diversity of Rotifera in Tigris River. Six sampling sites were selected, two on Tharthar Arm and four along the Tigris River, one before the confluence as a control site and the others downstream of the confluence. Seventy-seven species of Rotifera were identified in Tigris, whereas, 60 in the arm. The results showed that low density of Rotifera in Tharthr Arm decreased the density in Tigris from 239812.4 upstream of the confluence to 223315.5 at immediate downstream of the confluence. It also declined the mean values of richness, evenness and Shannon diversity indices from 5.19, 0.69 and 2.14 bit/Ind., before the confluence to 3.97, 0.73 a
... Show MoreFactor and cluster analysis, two multivariate statistical approaches, have been used to analyze temporal and spatial variations and pollutants sources effecting the water quality of Tigris River from the north to the south of Baghdad city. From October 2021 to September 2022, 15 water quality parameters (electrical conductivity (EC), pH, water temperature (WT), turbidity (Tur), total hardness (TH), biochemical Ooxygen Ddemand (BOD), dissolved oxygen (DO), Mg+, Ca+, SO4, dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), total chlorine (TC), Cr, and Al) were tested at five monitoring sites (Balad, Al-Ghrai’at, Al-Shuhada'a Bridge, Al-Za’franiya, and Jisr Diyala), along the study area of the river. Results revealed that the
... Show MoreThe present study is considered the first on this sector of the Tigris River after 2003. It is designed for two aims, the first is to demonstrate the seasonal variations in physicochemical parameters of Tharthar-Tigris Canal and Tigris River; the second is to explain the possible effects of canal on some environmental properties in the Tigris River. Water samples were being collected monthly. Six sampling sites were selected, two on Tharthar Canal and four along the Tigris River, one before the confluence as a control site and the others downstream the confluence with the canal. For a period from January to December 2020, nineteen physicochemical parameters were investigated including air and water temperature, turbidity, electrical cond
