In spite of the high rate of morbidity and mortality heart failure (HF) is common, and none of the medications are now entirely available for HF treatment. In addition to many environmental influences and clinical diseases, genetic factors may also contribute to the progression and development of HF. In the current study, samples of blood were collected from 150 heart failure patients and 130 healthy controls. We evaluated the association of four single nucleotide polymorphisms (snps) of Toll-like receptors (TLR6 and TLR5) with (HF) susceptibility in the Iraqi population. In this work, (SNP) called Toll-like receptor 5 (rs5744168, rs2072493) and Toll-like receptor 6 (rs1039559, rs5743810) were employed. (PCR-RFLP) for snps

The main issue with this problem is that the solution is unstable and sensitive to small contamination of noise in the input data. The Crank-Nicolson finite difference method (FDM) is utilized to solve the direct problem, whilst the inverse problem is viewed as a nonlinear optimization problem. The latter problem is solved numerically using the routine optimization toolbox lsqnonlin from MATLAB. Consequently, the Tikhonov regularization method is used in order to gain stable solutions. The results were compared with their exact solution and tested via
... Show MoreThis paper presents a numerical solution to the inverse problem consisting of recovering time-dependent thermal conductivity and heat source coefficients in the one-dimensional parabolic heat equation. This mathematical formulation ensures that the inverse problem has a unique solution. However, the problem is still ill-posed since small errors in the input data lead to a drastic amount of errors in the output coefficients. The finite difference method with the Crank-Nicolson scheme is adopted as a direct solver of the problem in a fixed domain. The inverse problem is solved sub

The continuous increases in the size of current telecommunication infrastructures have led to the many challenges that existing algorithms face in underlying optimization. The unrealistic assumptions and low efficiency of the traditional algorithms make them unable to solve large real-life problems at reasonable times.
The use of approximate optimization techniques, such as adaptive metaheuristic algorithms, has become more prevalent in a diverse research area. In this paper, we proposed the use of a self-adaptive differential evolution (jDE) algorithm to solve the radio network planning (RNP) problem in the context of the upcoming generation 5G. The experimental results prove the jDE with best vecto

Six sampling sites were selected, two on Tharthar Arm and four along the Tigris River, one before the confluence as a control site and the others downstream of the confluence. Seventy-seven species of Rotifera were identified in Tigris, whereas, 60 in the arm. The results showed that low density of Rotifera in Tharthr Arm decreased the density in Tigris from 239812.4 upstream of the confluence to 223315.5 at immediate downstream of the confluence. It also declined the mean values of richness, evenness and Shannon diversity indices from 5.19, 0.69 and 2.14 bit/Ind., before the confluence to 3.97, 0.73 a

Radio telescopes, in general, offer a wide range of applications in radio astronomy, which are usually used to detect the neutral hydrogen emission line at a wavelength of 21 cm. One of the key applications of BURT is to observe the Milky Way galaxy and to determine its rotation curve. However, performing such observations requires accurate determination of the appropriate observing time as well as the coordinates. This paper focuses on how the observing time and coordinates are calculated correctly and accurately. The horizontal coordinate that corresponds to the galactic coor

In recent years, there have been many computational models developed to study the genetic alterations of different pathways in the evolutionary process of cancer. However, most of the methods are knowledge-based enrichment analyses and inflexible to analyze user-defined pathways or gene sets. In this paper, we develop a nonparametric and data-driven approach to testing for the dynamic changes of pathways over the cancer progression. Our method is based on an expansion and refinement of the pathway bei
