Age and growth of Varicorhinus damascinus (Val.) in Tigris river at Salahuldin province have been investigated. Monthly samples were taken during the period from September 1999 to August 2000, using small-meshed gill nets. The age data showed that there were six age groups and the dominant age groups were (III – IV) for both sexes. The results of the present study revealed that the increment in length of V. damascinus at the sites of study showed a tendency to decrease with the increase in age, after the third year of life in both sexes. Many clinical isolates of proteus spp. (30 isolates of P
mirabilis and 30 isolates of P. vulgaris) from patients with urinary
tract infections (UTIs) were examined for their ability to produce
proteolytic enzymes and their ability to form swarming growth. Most
(90%) of P. mirabilis and 60% of P. vulgaris isolates secreta
proteolytic enzymes. A strong correlation was found between the
ability of a strain to secreted proteases and it's ability to form
swarming growth. Non- swarming isolates invariably appeared to be
non- proteolytic. However, some isolates (12 isolates of P. vagaries)
were non- proteolytic even when they formed swarming growth

Urban growth of cities is connected with three related problems, the first one, is the deterioration of the center, which is a mark for historical origin. CdTe nanorods were prepared by using aqueous chemical synthesis. The influences of reaction time (1-3 hours) on the optical and structural properties were studied. The UV-visible absorption spectrum reflects a wide absorption range in the visible spectrum. The energy gap calculations show decrease in the energy gap with increasing reaction time. The SEM images show that the CdTe appears as flower of nanorods-like.
