Desulphurization of Simulated Oil Using SAPO-11 with CNT's as Adsorbent: A Kinetic Study
...Show More Authors

In this study, sulfur was removed from imitation oil using oxidative desulfurization process. Silicoaluminophosphate (SAPO-11) was prepared using the hydrothermal method with a concentration of carbon nanotubes (CNT) of 0% and 7.5% at 190 °C crystallization temperature. The final molar composition of the as-prepared SAPO-11 was Al2O3: 0.93P2O5: 0.414SiO2. 4% MO/SAPO-11 was prepared using impregnation methods. The produced SAPO-11 was described using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms). It was found that the addition of CNT increased the crystallinity of SAPO-11. The results showed that the surface area of SAPO-11 containing 7.5% CNT was 179.54 m2/g, and the pore volume was 0.317 cm3/g. However, the surface area of SAPO-11 containing 0% CNT was 125.311 m2/g, and pore volume was 0.275 cm3/g, while nanoparticles with an average particle diameter of 24.8 nm were obtained. Then, the prepared SAPO-11 was used in the oxidative desulfurization process. The oxidative desulfurization was studied using several factors affecting desulfurization efficiency, such as time (40, 60, 80, 100, and 120) min, amount of MO/SAPO-11 (0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, and 0.7) g/100 ml of simulated oil (100 ppm of dibenzothiophene), the amount of hydrogen peroxide (4ml) oxidizer/100 ml of simulated oil, and the temperature ranges from (40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 °C). The results showed that an increase in MO/SAPO-11 led to an increase in desulfurization. The best removal percentage for sulfur content was 92.79%, obtained at 70 °C and 0.6 g of MO/SAPO-11 containing 7.5% CNT, and the removal was 82.34% at 0% CNT and the same other conditions. While the equilibrium was achieved after 100 min. The results revealed that Freundlich's model described the adsorption of sulfur compounds better than Langmuir's, where the R2 of the Freundlich model was 0.9979 and the R2 of the Langmuir model was 0.9554.

A Spotlight on the Experience of E-learning as a Learning Method for the Undergraduate Pediatric Nursing Students in Iraq during the COVID-19 Pandemic
...Show More Authors

The emergence of COVID-19 has resulted in an unprecedented escalation in different aspects of human activities, including medical education. Students and educators across academic institutions have confronted various challenges in following the guidelines of protection against the disease on one hand and accomplishing learning curricula on the other hand. In this short view, we presented our experience in implementing e-learning to the undergraduate nursing students during the present COVID-19 pandemic emphasizing the learning content, barriers, and feedback of students and educators. We hope that this view will trigger the preparedness of nursing faculties in Iraq to deal with this new modality of learning and improve it should t

The The Optimum Reservoir Performance of Nahr Umr/Ratawi Oil Field
...Show More Authors

Reservoir study has been developed in order to get a full interesting of the Nahr Umr formation in Ratawi oil field. Oil in place has been calculated for Nahr Umr which was 2981.37 MM BBL. Several runs have been performed to get matching between measured and calculated of oil production data and well test pressure. In order to get the optimum performance of Nahr Umr many strategies have been proposed in this study where vertical and horizontal wells were involved in addition to different production rates. The reservoir was first assumed to be developed with vertical wells only using production rate of (80000–125000) STB/day. The reservoir is also proposed to produce using horizontal wells besides vertical wells with pr

Purification and activation of the Iraqi bentonite for edible oil Production
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Samples of Iraqi bentonitic sediments, representing local montmorillonite brought from Traifawi region near the Syrian border. Mineralogical the samples were characterized as low grade of Ca-smectite, particle size, chemical analysis, XRD, and BET surface area analyses of the samples were carried out to examine the structure of bentonite before and after acid activation. The goal is to prepare a bleaching earth for edible oil production. Iraqi Bentonite was beneficiated and activated by series of physical and chemical steps, using 4N & 6N concentration of hydrochloric acid and at a temperature of 70-80 ° C. Surface area and pore volume of the samples were determined to assess the bleaching power</p> ... Show More

Stress-Dependent Petrophysical Properties of High Heterogeneous Carbonate Tight Oil Reservoirs
...Show More Authors

As a reservoir is depleted due to production, pore pressure decreases leading to increased effective stress which causes a reduction in permeability, porosity, and possible pore collapse or compaction. Permeability is a key factor in tight reservoir development; therefore, understanding the loss of permeability in these reservoirs due to depletion is vital for effective reservoir management. The paper presents a case history on a tight carbonate reservoir in Iraq which demonstrates the behavior of rock permeability and porosity as a function of increasing effective stress simulating a depleting mode over given production time. The experimental results show unique models for the decline of permeability and porosity as function effective str

Extraction and Modelling of Oil from Eucalyptus camadulensis by Organic Solvent
...Show More Authors

This work was conducted to study the extraction of eucalyptus oil from natural plants (Eucalyptus camadulensis leaves) by organic solvents. the effects of the main operating parameters were studied; type of solvent (n-hexane and ethanol), time to reach equilibrium, the temperature (45°C to 65°C) for n-hexane and (45°C to 75°C) for ethanol, solvent to solid ratio (5:1 to 8:1 (v/w)), agitation speed (0 to 900 rpm) and the particle size (0.5 to 2.5 cm) of fresh leaves to find the best processing conditions for the achieving maximum oil yield. The concentration of eucalyptus oil in solvent was measured by using UV-spectrophotometer. The results (for n-hexane) showed that the agitation speed of 900 rpm, temperature 65°C with solvent to soli
