The large protein clumps in dairy effluent make it harder for microbes to break down the waste, making traditional biological treatment methods less effective. This research generated an extracellular protease from Pseudomonas aeruginosa, partially purified it, and utilized it as an enzymatic pretreatment to improve substrate accessibility for biological processes. The purification method, which included ammonium sulfate precipitation and dialysis, raised the specific activity from 1.21 to 20.26 U mg −1 . This meant that the active enzyme fraction had been made stronger. Size-exclusion high-performance liquid chromatography (SEC-HPLC) was used to evaluate molecular changes in protein-rich wastewater. Following enzymatic treatment, chromatographic profiles showed a big change from early-eluting high-molecular-weight protein fractions to late-eluting low-molecular-weight peptides. This was clear proof of proteolytic cleavage. This structural transformation significantly altered on the physical and chemical properties of organic nitrogen, but it didn’t change the amount of organic matter. Biodegradability studies showed that samples that had been treated with enzymes used more oxygen in the first stage of decomposition. The high biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) levels did not mean that pollution was getting worse instead, they meant that microbial oxidation was happening faster because bacteria could get to soluble substrates more easily. The BOD/COD ratio showed that the speed of biodegradation was getting better. Enzymatic hydrolysis turned slowly biodegradable particulate COD into soluble parts that break down quickly. A mechanistic link exists between protein fragmentation and improved biological treatment effectiveness when enzyme purification, molecular-scale chromatographic analysis, and biodegradation performance evaluation are utilized simultaneously. The findings demonstrate that protease-based pretreatment is a viable and energy-efficient approach for mitigating hydrolysis issues in activated sludge systems. This could be a good way to deal with dairy waste that is high in protein.
This investigation deals with the use of orange peel (OP) waste as adsorbent for removal of nitrate (NO3) from simulated wastewater. Orange peel prepared in two conditions dried at 60C° (OPD) and burning at 500 °C (OPB). The effect of pH: 2-10, contact time: 30- 180 min, sorbent weight: 0.5- 3.0 g were considered. The optimal pH value for NO3 adsorption was found to be 2.0 for both adsorbents. The equilibrium data were analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. Freundlich model was found to fit the equilibrium data very well with high-correlation coefficient (R2). The adsorption kinetics was found to follow pseudo-second-order rate kinetic model, with a good correlation (R2

Electrocoagulation (EC), electrooxidation (EO), electroflotation (EF), electrodialysis (ED), and electro-Fenton (EFN) processes have received considerable attention. The type of action (individual or hybrid) for each electrochemical procedure was evaluated, and statistical analysis was performed to compare them as a new manner of reviewing cited papers providing a massive amount of information efficiently to the readers. Individual or hybrid operation progress of the electrochemical techniques is critical issues. Their design, operation, and maintenance costs vary depending o

Show MoreBeta thalassemia major (BTM) is a genetic disorder that has been linked to an increased risk of contracting blood-borne viral infections, primarily due to the frequent blood transfusions required to manage the condition. One such virus that can be transmitted through blood is the Human Parvovirus B19 (B19V). The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency and molecular detection of B19V. This study included 60 blood donors as controls and 120 BTM patients. B19V was identified by serology, which measured B19-IgG and B19-IgM antibodies. Nested Polymerase Chain Reaction (nPCR) was employed to target the VP1/VP2 structural proteins. The results showed that B19V seropositivity represents 27.5% (33 out of 120) in BTM patients, and

Conventional typing methods were performed by biochemical tests, and antimicrobial susceptibility test. Molecular typing performed by analysis plasmid DNA beside using the Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD-PCR). For the latter, two universal primers that have selected for the high discriminatory power were used for RAPD analysis. All isolates were belong one biotype according to the differention by their ability to decarboxylat lysine, 29(100%) were lysine (+). All the isolates were susceptible to the Antibiotics used. However, all the strains free of plasmids. RAPD was capable of grouping the strai

Delayed in identification of invasive fungal infections (IFIs), will lead to delayed treatment and results in high mortality in those populations. The study aimed to assess the frequency of invasive fungal infection in kidney transplant recipients by conventional and molecular methods. This study included 100 kidney transplant recipients (KTR) (75 males, and 25 females), collected from the Centre of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation in the Medical City of Baghdad. Blood samples were collected during the period from June 2018 to April 2019. Twent

Methods: In this study, formazan compounds (III–XIV) were produced by combining Schiff base compounds (I), (II) with diazonium salts resulting from reactions of different aromatic amines with sodium nitrate in the presence of Con.HCl at 0–5°C. When isonicotinic acid hydrazide reacts with (N,N-dimethylbenzaldehyde, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde) in the presence glacial acetic acid as a solvent Schiff base compounds are created. Results: The prepared compounds were identified by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, then the antioxidant activity of the derivatives and molecular docking were studied. D
