Predominant Mechanisms in the Treatment of Wastewater Due to Interaction of Benzaldehyde and Iron Slag Byproduct
...Show More Authors

Iron slag is a byproduct generated in huge quantities from recycled remnants of iron and steel factories; therefore, the possibility of using this waste in the removal of benzaldehyde from contaminated water offers an excellent topic in sustainability field. Results reveal that the removal efficiency was equal to 85% for the interaction of slag and water contaminated with benzaldehyde at the best operational conditions of 0.3 g/100 mL, 6, 180 min, and 250 rpm for the sorbent dosage, initial pH, agitation time, and speed, respectively with 300 mg/L initial concentration. The maximum uptake capacity of iron slag was 118.25 mg/g which was calculated by the Langmuir model. Physical sorption may be the major mechanism for the removal of

Association of SCARB1 Gene Expression with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Progression in a Sample of Iraqi Patients
...Show More Authors

The present research design examines the relationship between SCARB1 gene expression and the progression of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in Iraqi patients. The variations in gene expression between patients with CML and healthy controls were investigated. The gender and age correlations with CML patients were included, as was the association of gene expression folding of the SCARB1 gene with clinical data (WBC, RBC, hemoglobin, platelets, and BCR-ABL gene). The results displayed a significant difference in the mean gene expression level (∆Ct) of the CML group when compared to the matching ∆Ct values in the healthy control group. The gene expression folding of the SCARB1 gene indicates considerable changes in expression, wh

Performance Evaluation of Chestnut Nano Particles on Tensile, Impact, Vickers Hardness of Polyester/Glass Fiber Composite
...Show More Authors

In this study, an industrial source) E-Glass fiber) and a natural source (chestnut filler) were combined to improve the properties of polyesters. Hand-layup technique was applied in this work. Polyester (UPE) were reinforced with E-glass fibers, then reinforced with nano chestnut particles. All composites were prepared with (10% wt.) of E-glass for all prepared sheet and this ratio applied for Nano chestnut composite to preparing nano hybrid composites, Nano chestnut particles were used to reinforce E-glass/UPE composites with weight ratio (3%, 6% and 9% wt.). The evaluated mechanical performances for E-glass/NCSP polyester composite were tensile strength, impact strength and hardness. The higher ultimate tensile strength, Y

Petrophysical and Statistical Analysis of Main Pay of the Zubair Formation in South Rumaila Oil Field
...Show More Authors

The Zubair Formation is one of the major reservoirs of high production in the Rumaila oilfield, southern Iraq. The petrophysical properties analysis of the Upper Sand Member (Main Pay) of the Zubair Formation was conducted. The study includes results analysis of four wells distributed along the South Rumaila oilfield. Using a set of open well-logs, the main pay was divided into three main pay (AB, DJ and LN) units separated by two insulating shale units (C and K). The unit DJ was subdivided into three secondary reservoir units: D, F, H and the LN unit, which is split into L, M, and N. The research also includes the statistical analysis of the petrophysical properties, the calculation of the heterogeneity of the reservoir, and th

Study of Efficacy Adsorption of Methyl Green by Attapulgite and Modified Attapulgite Clay from Aqueous Solution
...Show More Authors

This paper includes the modification of the attapulgite  by precipitation of iron and aluminum compounds . Attapulgite (Atta) and modified attapulgite (Atta-m) clays are characterized by many  techniques ( FTIR , XRD ,SEM  with EDX ) .The  attapulgite clay before and after modification were used as the adsorbents for adsorption of methyl green (MG) . The results Indicate ,that the percentage of removal (MG) at equilibrium by using (Atta) and (Atta-m) clay were reached to  94% and 97% respectively. Indicating that the clay modification process was in addition to a relative improvement in the adsorption potential of the clay after modification.

The Costs of Environmental Failure and The Impact of The Green Value Chain in Reducing Them
...Show More Authors

The research aims to apply the activities of the green value chain as one of the modern administrative techniques that economic units resort to develop solutions to the pollution problems that occur due to the activity of economic units and their products that may cause damage to the environment as well as the waste of natural resources and to identify the production of environmentally friendly products and reduce the costs of environmental failure of both types Internal and external that may be borne by economic units such as taxes, fines and compensation due to non- observance of environmental requirements and the preservation of human health and protection of the environment. To achieve the goal of the research, the researchers re

The effect of background argon gas pressure on parameters of plasma produced by Dc- glow discharge
...Show More Authors

Non-thermal plasmas have become popular as plasma technology has advanced in various fields, including waste management, aerospace technology, and medicinal applications. They can be used to replace combustion fuels in stationary hall motors and need little effort to keep running for longer periods of time. To improve overall system performance, non-reactive gases such as )Xe, Ar, and Kr) are utilized in pure or mixed form to generate plasma. Since DC glow discharge is a fundamental topic of importance, these gases have been researched. The paper concentrates on 2-D modeling and simulation. DC glow-discharge tubes are utilized with argon gas to create plasma and learn about its properties. The magnitude of t

Toxicology of Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus, Botanical and Synthetic Pesticides on Mortality Rate of Crocidolomia binotalis (Zeller)
...Show More Authors

Crocidolomia binotalis (Cb) (Zeller) is one of the main pests of cabbage which is difficult for farmers to control in the Ijen Crater in Indonesia. The demand for cabbage in Indonesia is increasing every year, so intensification efforts are continuously being made. Farmers intensively use synthetic pesticides as the primary control of Cb. The purpose of this study is to examine several control agents that can be used as an alternative to synthetic pesticides. Then, it provides recommendations to Ijen Crater farmers to adapt in reducing the use of synthetic pesticides. The biopesticide used was based on the Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus strains of Spodoptera litura (SlNPV) and Helicoverpa armigera (HaNPV), botanical pesticides, and

Computational Study of the Flow of Newtonian Fluid Through A Straight Channel and Lid-Driven Cavity
...Show More Authors

This article aims to introducenumerical study of two different incompressible Newtonian fluid flows. The first type of flow is through the straight channel, while the second flow is enclosed within a square cavity and the fluid is moved by the upper plate at a specific velocity. Numerically, a Taylor-Galerkin\ pressure-correction finite element method (TGPCFEM) is chosen to address the relevant governing equations. The Naiver-Stoke partial differential equations are usually used to describe the activity of fluids. These equations consist of the continuity equation (conservation of mass) and the time-dependent conservation of momentum, which are preserved in Cartesian coordinates. In this study, the effect of Reynolds number (
