The effect of background argon gas pressure on parameters of plasma produced by Dc- glow discharge
...Show More Authors

Non-thermal plasmas have become popular as plasma technology has advanced in various fields, including waste management, aerospace technology, and medicinal applications. They can be used to replace combustion fuels in stationary hall motors and need little effort to keep running for longer periods of time. To improve overall system performance, non-reactive gases such as )Xe, Ar, and Kr) are utilized in pure or mixed form to generate plasma. Since DC glow discharge is a fundamental topic of importance, these gases have been researched. The paper concentrates on 2-D modeling and simulation. DC glow-discharge tubes are utilized with argon gas to create plasma and learn about its properties. The magnitude of the electron density, increases with rising pressure, whilst the rest of the parameters gradually decrease with increasing pressure

Investigation in the Effect of Applied Voltage and Working Pressure on Some Plasma Parameters in the Positive Column of Dc Glow Discharge
...Show More Authors

Comsol multiphysics software is established to make a simulation that is comparable with experimental device. by utilizing comsol, the positive column domain of direct-current glow discharge with argon is considered for both of different applied voltage and working gas pressure. The calculations are exhibited by using a precise collision cross sections and Townsend coefficients for the argon. The impacts of voltage and pressure on the Debye length, number of particles in Debye sphere and plasma frequency are calculated and graphically delineated. With this regard to the dependence of plasma parameters on the applied voltage and pressure, some of them are found to be compatible with the experimental

DC Glow Discharge Plasma Characteristics in Ar/O2 Gas Mixture
...Show More Authors

In this article, the effects of the O2 ratio  on the electrical characteristics, including the I-V characteristic curve, Panchen’s curve, and I-P curve, were tested in a sample of O2/Ar gaseous mixture . The sample was produced by plasma-based DC magnetron sputtering with niobium metal as a target material. The inter-electrode spacing value was 4 cm. Plasma diagnosis via the Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) method was used to achieve Te and Ne mixture values of 20 %, 30 %, 50%, and 70% in the Ar/O2 system. The results showed that the discharge is operating in the abnormal glow region and the discharge current was decreased by increasing O2 percentage. In addition, the experimenta

Influence of Discharge Pressure on the Plasma Parameter in a Planar Dc-Sputtering Discharge of Argon
...Show More Authors

Abstract- Plasma parameters in a planar dc-sputtering discharge in argon were measured by cylindrical electrostatic probe (Langmuir probe).Electron density, electron temperature, floating potential, and space potential were monitored as a function of working discharge pressure. Electrostatic probe and supporting circuit were described and used to plot the current – voltage characteristics. Plasma properties were inferred from the current-voltage characteristics of a single probe positioned at the inter-cathode space. Typical values are in the range of (10-16 -10-17) m-3 and (2.93 – 5.3) eV for the electron density and the electron temperature respectively.

The effect of background vacuum pressure on the length of gas discharge plasma by using Aluminum electrodes
...Show More Authors

Length of plasma generated by dc gas discharge under different vacuum pressures was studied experimentally. The cylindrical discharge tube of length 2m was evacuated under vacuum pressure range (0.1-0.5) mbar at constant external working dc voltage 1500V. It was found that the plasma length (L) increased exponentially with increasing of background vacuum air pressure. Empirical equation has been obtained between plasma length and gas pressure by using Logistic model of curve fitting. As vacuum pressure increases the plasma length increases due to collisions, ionizations, and diffusions of electrons and ions.

Spectroscopic Study of Plasma Parameters Produced by Pin-Plate DC Discharge Technique
...Show More Authors

In this work, plasma parameters such as electron density (ne), electron temperature (Te), Debye length (λD), plasma frequency (fPlasma), and Debye number (ND) for Cu plasma produced by Pin-Plate DC discharge were studied. Spectroscopic technique was used to analyze and determine spectral emission lines. The value of the electron density for Cu was in the range (1.5–3.5)×1018cm-3 and for the electron temperature was in the range ( 1.31 – 1.61)eV. Finally, plasma parameters of Cu were caculated through plasma produced by Pin-Plate DC discharge using different voltages (600-900) V.

Magnetic Field Effect on the Characteristics of Large-Volume Glow Discharge in Argon at Low Pressure
...Show More Authors

The magnetic field effect on the current-voltage characteristic curves of glow discharge in argon at low pressures has been experimentally investigated. The electrical discharge was ignited in a stainless steel tapered chamber of a nominal volume of 0.5m3 immersed inside a water-cooled coil capable of delivering a magnetic field of strength B of up to 0.42T. Three water-cooled electrodes were inserted into the chamber up to a point where their tips were 20cm away from the surface of the central column of the chamber. An enhancement of the electric field configuration within the region of the electrode assembly was performed by threading one of the electrodes with stainless circular discs(80mm and 140mm in diameter) in various forms(attac

Influence of Glow and Afterglow Times on the Discharge Current of Argon at Low Pressure
...Show More Authors

An experimental investigation of the variation of argon discharge current with a glow and afterglow time intervals of a square discharge voltage was carried out at low pressure (6-11 mbar). The discharge was created between two circular metal electrodes of diameter (7.5 cm), separated horizontally by a distance (10 cm) at the two ends of a Pyrex cylindrical tube. A composite of two Gaussian functions has been suggested to fit and explain the variation graphs clearly. It is shown that the necessary times of glow and afterglow needed to attain a maximum discharge current are (70 us) and (60 us), respectively. The discharge current is observed to drop to the lowest value when the two times are serially longer than (85 us) and (72 u

Effect of Argon and oxygen pressure on Zn magnetron plasma produced by RF power supply
...Show More Authors

In this work, the plasma parameters (electron temperature and
electron density) were determined by optical emission spectroscopy
(OES) produced by the RF magnetron Zn plasma produced by
oxygen and argon at different working pressure. The spectrum was
recorded by spectrometer supplied with CCD camera, computer and
NIST standard of neutral and ionic lines of Zn, argon and oxygen.
The effects of pressure on plasma parameters were studied and a
comparison between the two gasses was made.
