The role of strategic planning in addressing Iraqi youth migration
...Show More Authors
Purpose

This study examines the role of strategic planning in reducing youth migration in Iraq by promoting sustainable development. It highlights how comprehensive strategies can address economic, political, and environmental drivers of migration, offering practical alternatives for a stable future for Iraqi youth.

Design/methodology/approach

A descriptive–analytical qualitative approach was used, combining a literature review with a structured workshop of 100 political science students. Data from focused group discussions were thematically coded to explore youth perceptions of migration and the role of strategic planning.

Findings

Results indicate that economic diversification, green economy promotion, sustainable employment, education reform, and political stability can reduce migration. Coherent policies, cross-sector collaboration, and innovative models like Masdar City demonstrate sustainable development and technological innovation.

Research limitations/implications

This study has some limitations, including a small sample of 100 students from the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad and reliance on qualitative data, which may be subject to bias. Nevertheless, the findings provide useful insights into the drivers of youth migration in Iraq and offer practical guidance for policymakers and institutions. Future research could include larger samples and additional regions to strengthen the results.

Practical implications

The finding of this study have several practical implications for addressing youth migration in Iraq. First, the fragile security condition and ongoing conflicts indicate the need for targeted programs that ensure the safety and engagement of young people in affected regions. Second, the high rates of unemployment and limited economic opportunities highlight the importance of developing sustainable employment initiatives, particularly in sectors such as renewable energy, smart agriculture and green technologies, to retain young talent. Third, environmental challenges, including climate change and resource scarcity, call for programs that support climate-resilient livelihoods for youth. Fourth, weak governmental policies and the absence of a comprehensive legal framework for migration suggest the necessity of implementing clear, actionable policies that connect migration management with social and economic development objectives. Finally, the ongoing brain drain emphasizes the importance of strengthening educational and vocational training programs, improving public services and promoting good governance to enhance institutional trust and reduce incentives for migration. These measures collectively provide actionable guidance for policymakers and institutions seeking to retain youth, reduce brain drain and promote sustainable development in Iraq.

Originality/value

The study addresses a contemporary issue by applying Bryson's strategic planning model as an analytical framework to mitigate Iraqi youth migration, integrating the Sustainable Development Goals and green economy initiatives. This innovative approach provides a novel, policy-oriented perspective and actionable insights for policymakers seeking sustainable and effective solutions.

Hypothyroidism is a frequent disorder in the general population, especially among women, is defined as adeficiency of thyroid activity that results from insufficient production or action of thyroid hormones leading to a totaldecrease of metabolic. Human leukocyte antigen is the most polymorphic genetic system in man. Genes of this regioninfluence susceptibility to certain diseases. Objectives: The purpose of the present study is to investigate the role of HLA-DRB1 genotyping in hypothyroidpatients with and without periodontitis. Sixty hypothyroid patients 30 of patients were with periodontitis and 30without periodontitis compare with 30 healthy subjects as control enrolled in this study. Background: The materials and techniques of orthodontic bonding systems remain a pivotal concern in orthodontic research. This issue is further complicated by orthodontists' preferences. To assess the effect of knowledge and practice on the attitudes of orthodontists towards bonding materials and techniques. Methods: A cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted using Google Forms. The questionnaire comprised 17 multiple-choice questions that targeted orthodontists' awareness, knowledge, and attitude towards bonding materials. It was distributed via email or social networking platforms to specialist Iraqi orthodontists. Results: A total of 176 participants responded with nearly equal representation between the sexes. Th

The Potential Role of Reactive Oxygen Species Produced by Low-Density Neutrophils in Periodontitis
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Objective Neutrophils own an arsenal of dischargeable chemicals that enable them to handle bacterial challenges, manipulating innate immune response and actual participation in acquired immunity. The reactive oxygen species (ROS) are one of the most important chemicals that neutrophils discharge to eradicate pathogens. Despite their beneficial role, the ROS were strongly correlated to periodontal tissue destruction. Lowdensity neutrophils (LDN) have been recognized for producing enhanced quantities of ROS. However, the potential role of ROS produced by LDN in periodontitis is unknown. The aim of the study was to investigate the impact of ROS produced by LDN in periodontal diseases.

Role of Gamma Camera Components in Radiological Diagnosis
...Show More Authors

The gamma camera, along with SPECT and PET scanners, is one of the main imaging technologies in nuclear medicine. A collimator is typically constructed from tungsten to provide high absorption of gamma photon energies. It has a hole or holes for imaging. Gamma rays from a radioactive source within the body are emitted in all directions, while the photons required constructing an image travel through the hole. A scintillator is the most common material used to convert the high energy of gamma radiation into a lowenergy optical photon. These detectors are one of the primary secrets to radio-diagnosis in nuclear medicine. The photomultiplier tube (PMT) is a versatile device with extraordinarily highly sensitivity and response. A typical photom
