Metabolomics unleashed: transforming disease diagnosis and treatment with molecular insights
...Show More Authors

Introduction: Metabolism is a vital technique in the field of medical research. It offers an insight into the etiopathogenesis of diseases and the formulation of personalized treatment regimens. Biochemical and metabolic alterations require innovative therapeutic approaches in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Trace elements, like copper and zinc, may help treat PCOS due to their relation to metabolism. Objective: The aim of this work was to explore the metabolic impact of copper and zinc supplementation in women with PCOS using state-of-the-art metabolomics technologies. Methods: This study included fifty PCOS patients and fifty healthy subjects. High-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) was used for the metabolic analysis of the participants before and after obtained standard copper and zinc exposure, extracted from the blood samples of the analysis. Results: Compared with the control group, significant metabolic changes were noted post-supplementation in the PCOS patients. Fasting glucose was lower (85.2 mg/ dL to 79.1 mg/dL, p < 0.05), suggesting enhanced glucose metabolism. Higher lactate (12.5 µmol/L to 15.3 µmol/L, p < 0.05) indicated a higher energy utilization. Studies show increased levels of leucine (85.7 µg/mL to 92.3 µg/mL, p < 0.01) and palmitic acid (120.6 µg/mL to 136.2 µg/mL, p < 0.001) that mirrored alterations in amino acid and lipid metabolism. Glutamine (85.7 µg/mL vs. 78.9 µg/mL, p < 0.05) and creatinine (1.2 mg/dL vs. 0.9 mg/dL, p < 0.01) were elevated, while choline (45.8 µmol/L vs. 52.4 µmol/L, p < 0.001) decreased, highlighting supplementation's metabolic impact. Conclusion: Metabolomics showed that zinc and copper supplements could be used therapeutically to adjust PCOS-related metabolic pathways. These effects highlight the significance of metabolomics in precision medicine by allowing the introduction of customized therapeutic techniques catered to unique metabolic profiles for advanced sickness manipulation and therapeutic consequences. Hyperpigmentation is the increase in the natural color of the skin. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Q-Switched Nd:YAG (1064 & 532 nm) Laser in treatment of skin hyper pigmentation. This study was done in the research clinic of Institute of laser for postgraduate Studies/University of Baghdad from October 2008 to the end of January 2009. After clinical assessment of skin hyperpigmentation color, twenty six patients were divided according to their lesions. Eight Patients with freckles, seven patients with melasma, four patients with tattoo. Cases with tattoo, were subdivided into amateur tattoos two, professional tattoos one, and one traumatic tattoo. Four Patients with post inflammatory hyperpigment

A trial treatment of Hydatidosis in white mice by Immunization and Chemicals
...Show More Authors

The present study was conducted as atrial to treat secondary hydatidosis in white mice of species Mus musculus. (Balb/c strain), experimentally infected with secondary hydatid cysts of sheep origin. The immunization process was carried by using CF/PS antigen which consist hydatid cyst fluid (CF) antigen, and protoscolices (PS) antigen mixed together and by using two concentrations 7.5, 15 mg/ml. Then derivatives of Benzimidazole, Mebendazole (M) and drugs Albendazole (A) were used 10 and 40 μm/gm body weight respectively. The mixture of drugs was used one week after challenged dose. Criteria taken into consideration to define the activity of the immunization and chemotherapy in this study were reduction in the numeral of cysts, the coeffic

Treatment of Waste Paper Using Ultrasound and Sodium Hydroxide for Bioethanol Production
...Show More Authors

Bioethanol produced from lignocellulose feedstock is a renewable substitute to declining fossil fuels. Pretreatment using ultrasound assisted alkaline was investigated to enhance the enzyme digestibility of waste paper. The pretreatment was conducted over a wide range of conditions including waste paper concentrations of 1-5%, reaction time of 10-30 min and temperatures of 30-70°C. The optimum conditions were 4 % substrate loading with 25 min treatment time at 60°C where maximum reducing sugar obtained was 1.89 g/L. Hydrolysis process was conducted with a crude cellulolytic enzymes produced by Cellulomonas uda (PTCC 1259).The maximum amount of sugar released and hydrolysis efficiency were 20.92 g/L and 78.4 %, respectively. Sugars
