Optimization of Infill Drilling in Whicher Range Field in Australia
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Now that most of the conventional reservoirs are being depleted at a rapid pace, the focus is on unconventional reservoirs like tight gas reservoirs. Due to the heterogeneous nature and low permeability of unconventional reservoirs, they require a huge number of wells to hit all the isolated hydrocarbon zones. Infill drilling is one of the most common and effective methods of increasing the recovery, by reducing the well spacing and increasing the sweep efficiency. However, the problem with drilling such a large number of wells is the determination of the optimum location for each well that ensures minimum interference between wells, and accelerates the recovery from the field. Detailed 3-D numerical reservoir modelling is the most trusted method to determine the optimum locations of the infill wells, but it is time consuming and expensive. Therefore, the industry is on the lookout for methods that are fast and effective. Over the last few decades, researcher have come up with techniques like moving window, rapid inversion, Infill Well Locator Calculator (IWLC) etc. for infill drilling optimization of tight resources.

In this paper reservoir simulation modelling was combined with the Moving Window Method (MWM) to develop an optimum infill-drilling plan for Whicher Range (WR) Tight-gas Field in Western Australia. The accuracy and effectiveness of developed optimum plan are justified through comparative studies using standard reservoir simulation model; which demonstrates that the proposed plan effectively predicts the optimum number of wells including the production rate of each wells similar to that obtained from standard reservoir simulation studies. It is also inferred that reservoir simulation combined with MWM requires less data and much simpler as well as faster compared to standard reservoir simulation for optimizing an infill drilling plan for alike of Whicher Range tight gas field.

Improved Melting of Latent Heat Storage Using Fin Arrays with Non-Uniform Dimensions and Distinct Patterns
...Show More Authors

Employing phase-change materials (PCM) is considered a very efficient and cost-effective option for addressing the mismatch between the energy supply and the demand. The high storage density, little temperature degradation, and ease of material processing register the PCM as a key candidate for the thermal energy storage system. However, the sluggish response rates during their melting and solidification processes limit their applications and consequently require the inclusion of heat transfer enhancers. This research aims to investigate the potential enhancement of circular fins on intensifying the PCM thermal response in a vertical triple-tube casing. Fin arrays of non-uniform dimensions and distinct distribution patterns were des

Teachers’ Perspectives on the Challenges of Incorporating AI Chatbots into Writing Instruction for Arab EFL Learners
...Show More Authors

The current paper examines the Arab EFL teacher view on the application of AI-based chatbots as a method of aiding writing instruction. It explores pedagogy, didactic difficulties and ethics. The overall aim is to clarify the perception that teachers have of AI chatbots as a useful tool in the writing process and to find out to what degree these perceptions are reflected in instructional decision-making and classroom behaviors. A quantitative study was conducted using a structured questionnaire that was given to forty Arab EFL teachers, using a sequential explanatory mixed-method design. To elaborate and contextualize the survey results, qualitative enquiry was implemented through semi-structured interviews with twelve teachers. Fin

Synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of new cyclic oxazepine derivatives as potential antibacterial and antifungal agents

In this study, Bis(4,4’-diaminophenoxy)ethane (compound C1) was synthesized via the reaction of p-hydroxyaniline with 1,2-dibromoethane. Schiff bases (compounds C2–C4) were subsequently obtained by condensing compound C1 with various aromatic aldehydes. These intermediates were further reacted with different anhydrides – namely phthalic anhydride and maleic anhydride – in order to yield the final derivatives (compounds C5–C10). All obtained compounds were characterized by using infrared spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance, as well as through an assessment of their physical properties. Antimicrobial evaluation was conducted on some of the generated compounds using two bacterial strains (Escherichia coli and Staphyloc

Isolation and Characterization of Antibacterial Substances Produced by Bacteria Isolated from the Dead Sea Region, Jordan
...Show More Authors

The increasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens necessitates the discovery of novel antibacterial agents. In this study, culturable soil bacteria from the Dead Sea region (Jordan) were isolated and the antibacterial activity of their extracellular metabolites were evaluated. Twenty-one isolates were screened using a perpendicular-streak primary assay; three stable producers (GH-15, GH-20, GH-21) were prioritized. Cell-free supernatants were extracted with n-hexane and ethyl acetate, tested using agar well diffusion, and profiled using thin-layer chromatography (TLC) coupled with bioautography (GH-15). Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were determined by broth microdi
