Back ground: Knowledge about the causes of death in children is important to evaluate health system progress and provide what is needed for an efficient design of health care delivery system. Objective: To find out the main causes of death in children under 5years & evaluate the effects of different variables like: age, gender, body weight, residency, and months of year for the causes of death. Patient& Method: This is a retrospective study which was carried out in order to find out the main causes of death among admitted children younger than 5 year in Sulaymani Pediatrics Teaching Hospital for the period of 5 years from of January 1st 2001 to December 31st 2005 included. The total numbers of admitted cases was 137,739 out of which 1455 had died. We obtained the information from case files of the deceased patients. Results: The incidence of death among admitted patients was (1.06%), the rate was higher in male gender (59.3%), while in female it was (40.7 %), with a P-value of <0.05 which is significant statistically with male to female ratio 1.48:1. Deaths were mainly in neonates (61.8 % of all age groups in the study) with a p-value of <0.05. Death was mainly in those with body weights <2.5kg, which accounts for (42.1%). The main cause of death in neonate was prematurity (54.7%) while diarrhea and Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) were main causes during infancy (57.4%, 15.9%) respectively. Seasonal variation of died cases showed that were two peaks of death, one in June and another in November with a p-value of <0.05. The percentage of death in the rural and urban area were (64.5%, 35.5 %) respectively, with a p-value of <0.05 which is also significant. Conclusion: This study has revealed that prematurity was the main cause of death among neonate while diarrhea and acute respiratory diseases were the main causes of death during infancy. Malignancy was the least common cause of death. Deaths were mainly in neonates. There was a significant association between deaths and gender, body weight, residency& the months of the year. Key words: mortality rate, death cause, children under five.
This paper presents a robust algorithm for the assessment of risk priority for medical equipment based on the calculation of static and dynamic risk factors and Kohnen Self Organization Maps (SOM). Four risk parameters have been calculated for 345 medical devices in two general hospitals in Baghdad. Static risk factor components (equipment function and physical risk) and dynamics risk components (maintenance requirements and risk points) have been calculated. These risk components are used as an input to the unsupervised Kohonen self organization maps. The accuracy of the network was found to be equal to 98% for the proposed system. We conclude that the proposed model gives fast and accurate assessment for risk priority and it works as p

A cross-sectional study was carried out between September 2019 and April 2020 using an online survey. Pharmacists from eight different hospitals in Malaysia were involved in the study. The survey link was sent to all pharmacists of the included hospitals via email. Data were analysed using SPSS version 25.
A total of 226 pharmacists participated in this study, and their average age was 28 years old. About 82 % of the participants reported that they did not have any previous re

The resulting compounds were characterized by two spectroscopic analyses; (Fourier- transform infrared) FT-IR and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (¹H-NMR). In addition, the in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities were tested against some human pathogen

Global health organization facing difficulties in establishing an effective ASD diagnostic system that facilitates precise analysis and early autism prediction. It is a scientific issue that necessitates resolution. This research presents an approach for the early prediction of children with ASD utilizing significant variables through machine learning (ML) methods. Three stages comprise the suggested technique. First, a 1250-case ASD dataset was identified and preprocessed. Five extremely effective traits with high Pearson c
The study aimed to identify the perceptions of social studies teachers in the Governorate of Muscat about the importance of employing the skills of the twenty-first century in teaching. The study employed a qualitative approach. The two researchers used an analytical approach based on the Grounded Theory, the data was gathered through semi-structured interviews with (15) male and female teachers. The results indicated that social studies teachers relate the twenty-first-century skills more to improving students’ achievement level in the subject, while they see that these skills have less influence in developing students’ communication skills and cooperation with their peers. In light of the results of the study, the two researchers r

Materials and methods: The sample included dental casts of some dental students and orthodontic patients; their age was (18-25) years and having three groups normal, crowding, and spacing dentition groups. The sample was equally divided to three groups normal, crowding, and spacing dentition groups, each group contained 50 maxillary and 50 mandibular casts that were further subdivided by gender; all the stone casts were measured by highly sensitive digital vernier. Results and Conclusions: Non-significant side difference was found in both dental arches in the three studied groups. Males had higher mesiodis
