Vitamin D3 Deficiency is a risk Factor for the Low Ferritin in Iraqi Alzheimer's type-2- Diabetic Patients
...Show More Authors

Alzheimer's disease and Type-2- Diabetes Mellitus are prevalent chronic diseases linked by likely a bi-directional relationship, this relationship is partially understood. the aim of the present study is highlighting the biochemical relationship between the two complicated diseases in the term of biochemical parameters vitamin D3, Calcium, Ferritin and iron. Thirty (30) patients suffers from both Alzheimer's and type-2-diabetes participated in the present study, the study design involved two groups : the patients group included Alzheimer's type-2-diabetic patients with the age ranged between (48-55) years and termed as (G) , this group compared with healthy subjects as a control group ( C ) which composed of thirty subjects matched in age with the patients. The biochemical parameters: HbA1c, FBS, vitamin D3, Calcium, Ferritin and Iron were determined in sera of the patients and control groups. It has been reported that the levels of HbA1c, FBS were highly significant increased while the levels of vitamin D3, calcium, ferritin and iron were highly significant decreased in sera of Alzheimer's type 2- diabetic patients compared with the healthy subjects. The present study is the first in Iraq reporting that vitamin D3 deficiency is regarded as a risk factor to the low level of ferritin in Iraqi Alzheimer’s type-2- diabetic patients. Additionally, the biochemical parameters (vitamin D3, Calcium, Ferritin and iron) collectively submit a supportive finding to the bi-directional relationship between Alzheimer's disease and type -2- diabetes m

Postprandial Hyperglycemia as a Significant Risk Factor for Coronary Heart Disease
...Show More Authors

Background: The highest concentrations of
blood glucose during the day are usually found
postprandialy. Postprandial hyperglycemia (PPH)
is likely to promote or aggravate fasting
hyperglycemia. Evidence in recent years suggests
that PPH may play an important role in functional
& structural disturbances in different body organs
particularly the cardiovascular system.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of (PPH) as a
risk factor for coronary Heart disease in Type 2
diabetic patients.
Methods: Sixty-three type2 diabetic patients
were included in this study. All have controlled
fasting blood glucose, with HbA1c correlation.
They were all followed for five months period
(from May to October 2008)

Serum ferritin level and B12 in a sample of Iraqi re-current aphthous stomatitis patients
...Show More Authors

Background: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common oral mucosal disorders with a prevalence of 50-66%. The prevalence of hematinic deficiencies including ferritin and vitamin B12 deficiencies and their role in the prophylaxis and development of RAS is not well known. Many studies have demonstrated a high prevalence of hematinic deficiencies in patients with RAS. This study aimed to compare the serum level of ferritin and vitamin B12 in patients with recurrent aphthous ulcers and healthy controls. Subjects, Materials and Methods: The data were collected from patients who needed blood analysis to exclude anemia from November 2020 to May 2021. The study was approved by the institutional ethics committee. After recordi

Peer Support for Type 2 Diabetes Management in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs): A Scoping Review
...Show More Authors

Background: Although there is evidence of peer support in high-income countries, the use of peer support as an intervention for cardiometabolic disease management, including type 2 diabetes (T2DM), in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), is unclear. Methods: A scoping review methodology was used to search the databases MEDLINE, Embase, Emcare, PsycINFO, LILACS, CDSR, and CENTRAL. Results: Twenty-eight studies were included in this scoping review. Of these, 67% were developed in Asia, 22% in Africa, and 11% in the Americas. The definition of peer support varied; however, peer support offered a social and emotional dimension to help individuals cope with negative emotions and barriers while promoting disease management. Background: In advanced diabetes mellitus, serum levels of the most hormones are altered due to several interplaying mechanisms. Objective: To assess the relation of serum leptin and lipid profile in type 2 diabetic nephropathy. Patients and Method: Serum leptin levels and its relation to lipid profile were estimated in 62 patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy attending the National Diabetes Center in Al- Mustansiriya University, and (26) healthy individuals considered as control group. The diabetic patients were classified into three groups, (24) pathients with normoalbuminuria (21) patients with microalbuminuria and (17) patients with macroalbuminuria. Fasting plasma glucose, serum creatinine, Hb A1c %, lipid profile (Total c
