New Mixed Ligand Complexes; Synthesis, Spectral Analysis and Biological Activity

The formation, structural characterization of mixed ligand complexes of Co II, Zn II, Cd II and Hg II metal ions with the Schiff base ligand (Z)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-N'-(4-hydroxybenzylidene) benzohydrazide and 8-hydroxyquinolineare reported. Ligand and complexes were characterized by analytical and spectroscopic analyses including; FTIR, electronic and 1H, 13C-NMR spectroscopy, microanalysis, chloride content, thermal analysis, magnetic susceptibility and conductance. Physico-chemical techniques indicated the formation of complexes with fourcoordinated arrangement in the solid and solution state. Biological activity of the prepared ligand and their mixed complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activity against four bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtitles (G+)), Enterobacter and Escherichia coli (G-)). Biological data showed that complexes become potentially more active against these tested bacteria compared with the free ligands

Study of Spectral and thermal properties of Selenium Diatomic Halides by Semi-empirical Treatment

The spectroscopic properties, potential energy curve, dipole moments, total charge density, Electrostatic potential as well as the thermodynamic properties of selenium diatomic halides have been studied using code Mopac.7.21 and hyperchem, semi-empirical molecular orbital of MNDO-method (modified neglected of differential overlap) of parameterization PM3 involving quantum mechanical semi-empirical Hamiltonian. The relevant molecular parameters like interatomic distance, bond angle, dihedral angle and net charge were also calculated.

Detection and prediction of Sitophilus oryzae infestations in triticale via visible and near-infrared spectral signatures

Triticale is a hybrid of wheat and rye grown for use as animal feed. In Florida, due to its soft coat, triticale is highly vulnerable to Sitophilus oryzae L. (rice weevil) and there is interest in development of methods to detect early-instar larvae so that infestations can be targeted before they become economically damaging. The objective of this study was to develop prediction models of the infestation degree for triticale seed infested with rice weevils of different growth stages. Spectral signatures were tested as a method to detect rice weevils in triticale seed. Groups of seeds at 11 different levels (degrees) of infestation, 0–62%, were obtained by combining different ratios of infested and uninfested seeds. A spectrophotometer wa

Spectral and Linear Optical Characterization of Rhodamine B and Fluorescein Sodium Organic Laser Dyes Mixture Solutions

Spectral and linear optical properties for a mixture of Rhodamine B (RB) and Fluorescein Sodium (Na Fl) organic laser dyes were determined at different concentrations 10-3, 10-4 M in ethanol solvent at room temperature. The intensity of absorption range is towards longer wavelengths (red shift). The quantum efficiency diminished while the radiative and fluorescence life time increased when increment concentration, organic laser dyes have a spectrum within the range 540-500 nm. Results demonstrate that a mixture of laser dyes are effective optical materials when contrasted with individual laser dyes. It can be utilized as resonator in cavity lasers.

Comparison hybrid techniques-based mixed transform using compression and quality metrics

Image quality plays a vital role in improving and assessing image compression performance. Image compression represents big image data to a new image with a smaller size suitable for storage and transmission. This paper aims to evaluate the implementation of the hybrid techniques-based tensor product mixed transform. Compression and quality metrics such as compression-ratio (CR), rate-distortion (RD), peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), and Structural Content (SC) are utilized for evaluating the hybrid techniques. Then, a comparison between techniques is achieved according to these metrics to estimate the best technique. The main contribution is to improve the hybrid techniques. The proposed hybrid techniques are consisting of discrete wavel

Mixed Transforms Generated by Tensor Product and Applied in Data Processing

Finding orthogonal matrices in different sizes is very complex and important because it can be used in different applications like image processing and communications (eg CDMA and OFDM). In this paper we introduce a new method to find orthogonal matrices by using tensor products between two or more orthogonal matrices of real and imaginary numbers with applying it in images and communication signals processing. The output matrices will be orthogonal matrices too and the processing by our new method is very easy compared to other classical methods those use basic proofs. The results are normal and acceptable in communication signals and images but it needs more research works.

Synthesis and Characterization of Some New Quinoline-2-one, Schiff bases, Pyrazole and Pyrazoline Compounds Derived From Hydrazide Containing Isoxazoline or Pyrimidine Cycles

The work involves synthesis of new quinolin-2-one Schiff bases (XIII)a,b and (XIV)a,b, pyrazoles (XI)a,b and pyrazolines (XII)a,b derivatives containing isoxazoline or pyrimidine cycle starting with chalcones. 3-Aminoacetophenone was reacted with 4-bromobenzaldehyde or 4-N,N-dimethyl aminobenzaldehyde in basic medium to give chalcones (I)a,b by Claisen-Schemidt reaction. These chalcons were reacted with hydroxylamine hydrochloride or with thiourea in basic medium to form isoxazolines (II)a,b or pyrimidine-2-thion (III)a,b ,respectively. Also the pyrimidine-2-thiones (III)a,b and isoxazolines (II)a,b reacted with 4-or 3-substituted benzaldehyde and coumarin to form Schiff bases (IV)a-f (V)a-f and quinoline derivatives (VII)a-d(VIII)a-d, re

Synthesis and Characterization of New Polymers Bearing Tetrazole and Triazole Moieties with Studying their Corrosion Protection of Stainless Steel Surface in Hydrochloric Acid

A series of polymers containing1,2,4-triazole  and tetrazole groups in their main chains were synthesized through several steps. Poly(acryloyl hydrazide) was first prepared and then subjected to a hydrazide reaction with phenyl isothiocyanate to give a 1,2,4-triazole ring (2). This polymer was introduced into a reaction with chloro acetylchloride to yield polymer (3), which was refluxed with sodium azide to give polymer (4). Polymer (5) was synthesized by the reaction of polymer (4) with  acrylonitrile in the presence of NH4Cl as a catalyst. Finally, polymer (6) was synthesized by the electrochemical polymerization of polymer (5) using  316L stainless steel as an anti-corrosion coating. Polymer-coated and uncoat
