In this paper we proposed the method of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) determination of some essential trace elements in medicinal herbs and vitamin-mineral complexes at the level of 10⁰-10¹ mg/ml. To increase sensitivity and selectivity of the determination we simple and effective approach based on the extraction of metal ions from aqueous solutions with chemically modified polyurethane foam sorbents followed by direct XRF analysis. The aim of this study was to assess the frequency of hyperprolactinemia in women with SLE and to evaluate its correlation with disease flares. Serum prolactin levels were measured in 62 women with SLE and 50 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. A new spectrophotometric method for the determination of allopurinol drug was investigated. The proposed method was based on the reaction of the intended drug with catechol and Fe(II) to form a blue soluble complex which was measured at λmax 580 nm. A graph of absorbance versus concentration shown that Beer’s law was obeyed over the concentration range of 2–10 μg ml–1 with molar absorptivity of 9.4 x 103 l mol–1 cm–1 and Sandell sensitivity of 1.4 x 10–2 μg cm–2. Methods.Prospective studyof(140 ) adult patientstheir main chief complaint were nasal obstruction , presented to Otolaryngology department at Aljumhory Teaching Hospital in Mosul , from the period (september 2010 to september 2011) ,their age ranged from (21 to 53) years . They were investigated clinically, radiologicaly ,and nasal endoscopic examination was carried out (rigid and fibro-optic ) . Adenoidectomy was performed for those with adenoid hypertrophy and sent for histopathological study .
