Delignification of Date Palm Fronds using Modified Organosolv Technique

Abstract

In this study, modified organic solvent (organosolv) method was applied to remove high lignin content in the date palm fronds (type Al-Zahdi) which was taken from the Iraqi gardens. In modified organosolv, lignocellulosic material is fractionated into its constituents (lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose). In this process, solvent (organic)-water is brought into contact with the lignocellulosic biomass at high temperature, using stainless steel reactor (digester). Therefor; most of hemicellulose will remove from the biomass, while the solid residue (mainly cellulose) can be used in various industrial fields. Three variables were studied in this process: temperature, ratio of ethano

Temporal Video Segmentation Using Optical Flow Estimation

Shot boundary detection is the process of segmenting a video into basic units known as shots by discovering transition frames between shots. Researches have been conducted to accurately detect the shot boundaries. However, the acceleration of the shot detection process with higher accuracy needs improvement. A new method was introduced in this paper to find out the boundaries of abrupt shots in the video with high accuracy and lower computational cost. The proposed method consists of two stages. First, projection features were used to distinguish non boundary transitions and candidate transitions that may contain abrupt boundary. Only candidate transitions were conserved for next stage. Thus, the speed of shot detection was improved by r

Intrusion Detection System Using Data Stream Classification

Secure data communication across networks is always threatened with intrusion and abuse. Network Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is a valuable tool for in-depth defense of computer networks. Most research and applications in the field of intrusion detection systems was built based on analysing the several datasets that contain the attacks types using the classification of batch learning machine. The present study presents the intrusion detection system based on Data Stream Classification. Several data stream algorithms were applied on CICIDS2017 datasets which contain several new types of attacks. The results were evaluated to choose the best algorithm that satisfies high accuracy and low computation time.

Comparative Permeability Estimation Method and Identification of Rock Types using Cluster Analysis from Well Logs and Core Analysis Data in Tertiary Carbonate Reservoir-Khabaz Oil Field

Characterization of the heterogonous reservoir is complex representation and evaluation of petrophysical properties and application of the relationships between porosity-permeability within the framework of hydraulic flow units is used to estimate permeability in un-cored wells. Techniques of flow unit or hydraulic flow unit (HFU) divided the reservoir into zones laterally and vertically which can be managed and control fluid flow within flow unit and considerably is entirely different with other flow units through reservoir. Each flow unit can be distinguished by applying the relationships of flow zone indicator (FZI) method. Supporting the relationship between porosity and permeability by using flow zone indictor is ca

Evaluate the Rate of Pollution in Soil using Simulink Environment

In this paper we design a Simulink model which can be evaluate the concentration of Copper, Lead, Zinc, Cadmium, Cobalt, Nickel, Crum and Iron. So, this model would be a method to determine the contamination levels of these metals with the potential for this contamination sources with their impact. The aim of using Simulink environment is to solve differential equations individually and as given data in parallel with analytical mathematics trends. In general, mathematical models of the spread heavy metals in soil are modeled and solve to predict the behavior of the system under different conditions.

Linear Regression Model Using Bayesian Approach for Iraqi Unemployment Rate

In this paper we used frequentist and Bayesian approaches for the linear regression model to predict future observations for unemployment rates in Iraq. Parameters are estimated using the ordinary least squares method and for the Bayesian approach using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. Calculations are done using the R program. The analysis showed that the linear regression model using the Bayesian approach is better and can be used as an alternative to the frequentist approach. Two criteria, the root mean square error (RMSE) and the median absolute deviation (MAD) were used to compare the performance of the estimates. The results obtained showed that the unemployment rates will continue to increase in the next two decade

Thematic Maps for the Variation of Bearing Capacity of Soil Using SPTs and MATLAB

The current study involves placing 135 boreholes drilled to a depth of 10 m below the existing ground level. Three standard penetration tests (SPT) are performed at depths of 1.5, 6, and 9.5 m for each borehole. To produce thematic maps with coordinates and depths for the bearing capacity variation of the soil, a numerical analysis was conducted using MATLAB software. Despite several-order interpolation polynomials being used to estimate the bearing capacity of soil, the first-order polynomial was the best among the other trials due to its simplicity and fast calculations. Additionally, the root mean squared error (RMSE) was almost the same for the all of the tried models. The results of the study can be summarized by the production
