A New Method for Detecting Cerebral Tissues Abnormality in Magnetic Resonance Images
...Show More Authors

We propose a new method for detecting the abnormality in cerebral tissues present within Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI). Present classifier is comprised of cerebral tissue extraction, image division into angular and distance span vectors, acquirement of four features for each portion and classification to ascertain the abnormality location. The threshold value and region of interest are discerned using operator input and Otsu algorithm. Novel brain slices image division is introduced via angular and distance span vectors of sizes 24˚ with 15 pixels. Rotation invariance of the angular span vector is determined. An automatic image categorization into normal and abnormal brain tissues is performed using Support Vector Machine (SVM). Standard Deviation, Mean, Energy and Entropy are extorted using the histogram approach for each merger space. These features are found to be higher in occurrence in the tumor region than the non-tumor one. MRI scans of the five brains with 60 slices from each are utilized for testing the proposed method’s authenticity. These brain images (230 slices as normal and 70 abnormal) are accessed from the Internet Brain Segmentation Repository (IBSR) dataset. 60% images for training and 40% for testing phase are used. Average classification accuracy as much as 98.02% (training) and 98.19% (testing) are achieved.

A New Approach for Designing Multi Information Management System Using XML Technology
...Show More Authors

XML is being incorporated into the foundation of E-business data applications. This paper addresses the problem of the freeform information that stored in any organization and how XML with using this new approach will make the operation of the search very efficient and time consuming. This paper introduces new solution and methodology that has been developed to capture and manage such unstructured freeform information (multi information) depending on the use of XML schema technologies, neural network idea and object oriented relational database, in order to provide a practical solution for efficiently management multi freeform information system.

A NEW HOST RECORD FOR TOMATO LEAF MINER TUTA ABSOLUTA (MEYRICK, 1917) IN BAGHDAD PROVINCE, IRAQ
...Show More Authors

In 2010, the tomato leaf miner Tuta absoluta (Meyrick, 1917) was reported for the first time in Iraq. The larvae can feed on all parts of tomato plants and can damage all the growth stages. The main host plant is tomato, Lycopersicon esculentum, but it can also attack other plants in Solanaceae family. In this study it was found attacking alfalfa plants, Medicago sativa in Baghdad Province. This finding reveals that alfalfa also serves as a host plant for T. absoluta in Iraq.

A New Chromogenic Reagent for Determination of Copper (II) in Water Samples Using Flow injection-Technique.
...Show More Authors

A new flow injection spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of copper ion Cu(II) in water samples (tap water and river water). The proposed method based on the formation of red complex [Cu(L)2(NO3)2] which has a maximum absorption at λmax=490 nm. Linear range for Cu (II) was from 5-70μg/mL with detection limit 2.55μg/mL. The effect of physical and chemical parameters were evaluated .The proposed method was applied successfully for determination of copper (II) in the tap and river water. [Cu(L)2(NO3)2] complex was prepared in a (2:1) mole ratio as ( reagent: copper (II)).The analytical reagent formed by reaction of thymol with 4-aminoantipyrine at room temperature. The metal complex was characterized by IR, UV-Visi

Milk Thistle Leaves Aqueous Extract as a New Corrosion Inhibitor for Aluminum Alloys in Alkaline Medium
...Show More Authors

The aqueous extract of milk thistle (Silybum marianum) leaves as a green corrosion inhibitor for AA7051 aluminum alloy in sodium hydroxide solution was investigated at a range of temperatures. Potentiodynamic polarization findings exhibit a mixed–type inhibitor with directly increased inhibition efficiency with the concentration of inhibitor. The adsorption of the inhibitor on aluminum alloy obeys Langmuir isotherm and the kinetic as well as thermodynamic parameters were measured and discussed.

Powell-Eyring Fluid Peristaltic Transfer in an Asymmetric Channel and A Porous Medium under the Influence of A Rotation and an Inclined Magnetic Field
...Show More Authors

In this article, we investigate the peristaltic flow of a Powell-Eyring fluid flowing in an asymmetrical channel with an inclining magnetic field through a porous medium, and we focus on the impact that varying rotation has on this flow. Long wavelength and low Reynolds number are assumed, where the perturbation approach is used to solve the nonlinear governing equations in the Cartesian coordinate system to produce series solutions. Distributions of velocity and pressure gradients are expressed mathematically. The effect of these parameters is discussed and illustrated graphically through the set of figures. To get these numerical results, we used the math program MATHEMATICA.
